  • there actally woodpigeons

  • @1065chris no, they are white wing doves

  • You did a good job. I wouldn't let the doves on the floor even if the parents would feed them. It's dangerous: cats especillay and other animals may eat them at night, unless you know where therir nest is and make sure the parents are feeding them.

    Again great job!

  • @LillyduLac I just found one that was sitting out in 95 degree weather about dead and would have died had i not of picked it up. When i got it was so thirsty that it drank water which they wont normally do. Its doing a lot better now but its really hungry and the pet stores closed right now.

  • Awwww I miss feeding my ducks and they would peck me for their food.

  • sometimes when they got real excited but they are too young to hurt you

  • Don't they peck your hands doing that?

  • how often did u use to feed your baby dove?

and how can u tell if its a boy or a girl!?

  • it depends on how young they are, at the beginning, i was feeding them every 45mins, then every hr, then every hr and a half, and so on. Keep an eye on their crop (its on the front of their chest, it enlarges after you feed em, like a hamsters cheek) to make sure it isnt empty, when it starts to look empty its time to feed. Its pretty much impossible to tell sex when they are babies, and still hard even when grown. The males and females do sometimes have slightly different markings

  • nice teaching Video !!!

  • what is that seeds

  • no, its a baby bird formula, a powder that is available at pet stores. You simply mix it w/ warm water so you have kinda a liquidy paste to feed em (consistency of their moms milk)

  • lol

i used to have to take care of one since it's mother left it.

now they're back to have more babies

  • what r u feeding them?

  • I am feeding them a baby bird formula, it comes in a powder, and you mix it with warm water, you can buy it at a pet store in the bird supplies. After a while, I started to mix in some seeds with it, to try to get them used to eating seeds.

  • Neat. I've got one of these guys sitting on my shoulder as I type this. Great tailed grackles kicked mine out of its nest.

I fed mine out of a small paper cup with a hole in the bottom of it.

  • this is a quick question im on my sisters account, my names Tahlia and well this morning we found a baby dove out the front and i was wondering what do you feed them!? we have been trying to figure out if you can actually keep them, its interesting

  • They eat a variety of seeds. You can google more for specific seeds they eat.

  • I found a baby dove in the middle of the street. He can't fly yet. I brought him home to my back yard, and I've tried putting seeds on the ground, but he's not eating them. I want to try hand feeding like you did in this video.

Is that just bird seed in your hand, or is there a special food you use?

He must be thirsty too, and I don't want him to dehydrate; How can I get him to drink water?

Thanks for the video and any help =)

  • i found a baby dove but i think their illegal to care for so i dont know wat i should do because if i raise them they will not no how to live in the wild and ill have to illegally keep them forever and i want to but still my parents would not like to get arrested for a minor

  • Cool..idk wat kind of doves those are but they definately sound like juvenile sumthings. I love birds myself...do u? Or did u just eant sumthing exciting to put on youtube?

  • I love all animals. Once I had to take care of these two doves, they became my babies. I watched what the other videos were of 'hand feeding' and I wanted to show how I did it b/c I had so much success, and it was much more fun and natural than feeding a dove by a eye dropper. There were still babies in this video, they hadn't even grown in all their feathers yet.

  • Do you know what kind of doves are those?

  • They are white wing doves

  • @lisacrome Ah! Like the Fleetwood Mac song!

  • wow that is amazing, how did u get them to do that?

    r they urs?

  • Well, we cut their tree down when they were still in the nest. This video is after having them for a week. They are still very young, I was trying to simulate a mother dove feeding them...got the tip reading online how to feed baby doves. They really like to eat like this, they always eat the most when I hand feed them.

  • you choped their tree down? why?

  • well, we didn't know they were up there to begin with. We chopped it down though, b/c it was shading our vegetable garden...but I am taken such good care of them. They are growing up great, and come back to visit every day.

  • Yes, they are kinda mine...I'm raising them outside though, so they are still wild free birds.

  • this is great.

a couple of pigeons nested in my balcony, and had eggs, now thier son is nesting in my balcony too.

i call them mine although they r wild as urs.

all the best to u and them.

please keep us posted on them.

  • We named them Duncan and Darla. Darla flew off and stayed gone for around 3 weeks, but has now started coming back to visit almost every day. Duncan has continued to come visit every day. Today, we even had a completely wild mourning dove come on our porch with Duncan. It let us pet it, and even sit on our hand for a while, totally amazing!
