  • ِAl to Eilah = Alilah .. not as u said ( ALLAH ) .. and Eilah mean ( god رب ) not ALLAH .. there is big different between Eilah and ALLAH .. even its similar in pronunciation . thanx any way .

  • @MadameAhlouche Here it is. /watch?v=jJBhpL0LKzE

  • @xinsomniaticxx. Oh okay, It makes sense to me what she was saying! Thank you

  • Hi Maha! What about "walla". I was at an arab restaurant and said shukran to the waitress after I paid al hisab. She responded with "Walla! Anta tatakelam al3rabiya?" We had a short dialouge which i understood all of except when she kept saying "walla". I feel like it means maybe "oh god or, o my god"... you speak arabic! Is this right? Am I wrong?

    Thanks you!

  • @mcizzle01 Wallah means "I swear" literally "I swear by Allah". Arabs use it a lot in dialogue, even when they speak English. xD

  • Is "inshallah" more of an arabic idiom, or a religious phrase? That is, if I am an unbeliever, would I use it as well? (Like I would say "oh my God" or even "thank God" in English, even if I am an atheist.)

  • @fab006

YES, it's a part of Arabic idiom

So,it's not related to religion.coz meaning isn't taken literally as Maha said

Thus, it can be used worldwide even with unbelievers...hope you got it

  • Hi, i'm from South East Asia. I have many Arab Christian friends (Lebanese). They always used these words (xxxxAlllah) during their conversation. At first i feel weird bcoz we are non arab speake here thought all these words used only by muslims without realizing Its normal for arab native speaker used these word regardless what religion they are bcoz that is their language. Only i'm sad when some non native arab speaker, either muslim or non muslim make it as political thingy..

  • Maha what is the link for the song yalla yalla so i know if i have the right one

  • dear Maha I just wanna say that I love your videos soooo much :)

  • amazing >>> I'm lovin your way to teach Maha >3

  • MashAllah is used in Serbian too,as ''mašala'' or '''машала''.

  • maha:O i thought u a muslim u know all this bout islam and u r nt?????? u r a kind person hopefuly u'll b a muslim someday thanks anyway

  • I usually say: Thank God. Just to let God know that I am grateful and include God in my life.

Actually ma sha Allah is what I say the most.

  • im perisan and we use all these too

what you mean is like to prevent someone from being jinxed, the same reason we knock on wood, or wear the blue eye ( at least all persians have it around their house, or on necklaces.etc)

  • hey don't mess up with allah's name allah is 1 of those 99 names of allah the almighty allah doesn't mean god

god in arabic is rabb or elaah

    for example

your name is maha if someone asked you to say your name in english you'll definitely say my name is maha

  • Another enjoyable lesson. I love how you can't stop singing the song.

  • A handsome son lol

  • iam indonesian. the indonesian people often call the name of God with Ellah or Ya Ellah

  • Amazing video thank u

  • You are a muslim, one recognizes that early, when seeing, that you describe the jews and the christians as also worshipping "the same god", which is in essence rather a muslim thing. The question remains, which attributes this "allah" has, has he the christian, the jewish or the muslim ones? So the common use of language in arab countries for this word doesn't make any argument, if it's the same god concept they worship or just the same word.

You imply that heavily ("the one and only god").

  • @MardasMan Who is Muslim? Maha is a Christian.

  • i don't know why i'm watching at 4 am this since i'm arabic!!!!

but good job Maha!!! i like the way you teach :D

  • masha allah means something like thanks to god? or is it something like realy?

  • @zimbarujane Ma Sha Allah means if or what God is willing :)

It's also a way of saying 'hopefully'

  • @MiraH102 Thats "Inshaa Allah", it means if god wills, however Ma Sha Allah means what God wanted.

  • Interesting

  • We got the Spanish word "Ojalá" from Arabic, which means "I wish". It comes from لو شاء الله (law sha'a Allah) "If God willed it."

  • @lvilla2962 i didnt know this! i speak spanish.

  • habibi ya allah!! i love that song too

  • great maha

  • Mashallah! .you also sing nice!

  • there's only one Allah (SWT)

  • i cant understand why people care if Maha is Muslim or Christian?? I mean seriously, what difference would it make for the one asking???She is an Arab teaching Arabic on youtube, her religious beliefs are her OWN business.

  • What are Hayak Allah , Barak Allah Feek and Jazak Allah ?

  • heyyyyyyy were you fom your arabic right

  • " Inshalla I bought a car" doesn't make any sense.

  • Masha'Allah means As God has willed -- this phrase is used when admiring or praising something or someone, in recognition that all good things come from God and are blessings from Him.

  • LOL!!!! "Inshallah I will have a son!" Typical Arabic phrase!

  • geezz ur sooo smart!

  • so i randomly came across your channel today and have been watching your videos for the last 2 or 3hrs! i love languages and comparing them so i couldn't help but get hooked on your channel! keep up the awesome work! :D

    shalom wasalaam!

  • Yes but Allah is the Muslim God and not the God of the Bible. Totally different.

  • @mismestera go preach somewhere else

  • @mismestera arabic speaking christians use Allah as the word for god. Its a language thing. Allah is not the ''mustlim god'' its the arabic WORD for god.

  • @entershikarisim

    no shit?

  • @entershikarisim i had this same conversation on youtube with some guy because he was saying that he was Christian and his name was Satancreatedallah. all he could do was tell me I was wrong even after I gave him proof.

  • @entershikarisim God in arabic is "رب"

  • @entershikarisim

    Not really

The arabic Word for god is ilaah Not Allah

Allah is the one god worshiped by Muslims but the word is used in a non formal manner by Christians as well

The information presented by Maha this time is inaccurate, but everyone makes a mistake onetime or another so its ok =)

  • @entershikarisim Allah is the god of the muslims. It is not just a word for god in arabic.

  • @Leona2051 Anybody who is arabic speaking regardless of religion uses the term "Allah" for God, not just muslims.

  • @Leona2051 your brain will not understand it , take your ignorancy and go back to mc donalds that all what you know and stop talking about things u dont know

  • @entershikarisim The arabic word for god is ilaha اله

  • @mismestera No you're wrong. Allah means God in arabic. Since Christian arabs obviously speak arabic, they say God in their own language, thus Allah. Even Jewish people that are native arabic speakers (like some Moroccan friends of mine who are jewish) say Allah, Alhamdulillah etc etc.

  • @mismestera

you are wrong the word Allah was used in the pre Islamic Arabic as well. I am Arab and muslim.

  • You forgot Al Hamdulillah

  • 5:30 its

  • what bout al hamdulilah!

  • Dear Maha please don't mind me asking are you a Muslim or a Chrisitan????

  • @cshrocks101

    cant you hear ???

she's christian a LOT of Arabs are christians specially in the Levant( Syria . Lebanon , Palestine , Jordan )

  • What about Alhamdullilah??

  • hi, maha! great video! i just think you are so funny sometimes. this made me smile today! :))

im taking arabic in college, inshallah i will be fluent one day.

ana ureed an athhabu ila falasteeeeen. lol :)

  • Salam Maha: MashAllah you are brilliant in languages , but my only Dua to AllAh Subhana wa tuAllah to give you Right Emaan , since you understand arabic, InshAllah you will understand the real meaning of Surah Akhlas start with " kul ho walaho ahad Allah husamad lamyalid walam yulid" Ameen

  • yallah,.... shukran c:

  • black eyes means in arabic aen alhasood or al hasad

    عين الحسود او الحسد

  • Many thanks for this helpful video =)

  • You forgot the meaning we here up north in Scandinavia have given the word yalla. Here it simply means "bullshit" or "horseshit" or "nonsense" if you will. It is used as the english use "yaketiyak" and "yadayada". Probably we heard you arabs use it often and adopted it and gave it a new meaning.

  • Did you say Allah Al'abd? it sounded like that.. I know it a al'ab ... is it supposed to be pronounced as Al'ABD as you said? or did I hear you wrong?

    please clear my doubt.

  • allh akbeer

    aregato

  • Allah Akber

    im frim turkey

  • could you say that "allah" is directly from the hebrew

    אלוה?

  • Monotheism is worst idea humans ever invented. Apart from it being moronic it is the basis of all forms of dictatorship including secular dictatorship born out of monotheist mindset cultures. The Ancient Athenians were Polytheists and they invented DEMOCRACY then their polytheism was replaced with monotheism and there was NO DEMOCRACY for the next 3000 years. !! Pre Islam Egypt was an amazing accomplished society and the most openly sexual society ever. Islam came along

    and shut down the party.

  • @anarchosolar Islam is the hero

  • Islam differentiate between Rabb (the creator, the maintainer) and Ilaah (the one that being worshiped, the one that being obeyed its will).

One could accept Allah as his/her Rabb , but not necessarily he/she accept Allah as his/her Ilaah.

  • @soerism is that a new theory?

Because I guess it cannot be derived from any idea in Islam.

Most ideas in Islam are based on the one God. As for your differentiation, I wonder what can be its practicality?

  • Very well done video. I am familiar with many of the Arabic expressions. This is a good explanation of how these words came into being.

  • Comment removed

  • title of video is ironic isnt it? because its kind of a long video but doesnt yalla mean like fast? I don't know, anyway thanks it was insightful

  • الله يجزاك خير

  • uhm... the title of your video does not fit...

  • I don't think yalla is ya allah تختلف يالله يالاهي يللا كلمه مرادفه لــ هيا هيا

  • yallah yallah means hury up

  • Oh and also wallah/wallahi which is often times overused and abused in my opinion. ie saying it for everything even inappropriate things, or in sincerely :/

  • good job.........well done........

  • hey. nice to meet you. in your other video you said german was your fifth language. what other languages do you know?

there's another we use: god only knows!

  • what about the word "Wallah" ?

  • @SUhhlEENAh wallah is a swear word.

  • you said Allahu akbar an aded that Allah is the biggest ting on earth. but our belive as muslims is that Allah is closer to a human than his pulse. but with his knoledge Allah is not in the earth i belive muslims would say he is on or above his throne so we say Allahu akbar for Allah is the greatest (biggest) or Allah is greater (bigger) than evrything....

  • @shubeytar wow, take a look at your self. very shameful

  • شكرا جزيلا

G-d's last Prophet was Muhammad after Prophet Isa (Jesus) and Musa (Moses) (peace be upon them). If ye don't agree (submit to that) then to ye be your religion (Way) and to me be mine. Peace be with us.

I probably won't learn Arabic (no need, where I live), but I think You are doing a great job. Keep doing this! I can see, it gives You some fun too ;)

In Polish we also have a lot of similar expressions, to that you spoke of, in this vid.

    Ma'assalama!

  • Inshallah in english would be "god willing"

  • شوكران took me ages to find the letters on the keyboard!

  • I LOVE that song!!!!!

  • In Spanish there´s a word that is formed with the word Allah, this word is "ojalá",was formed in the past with the expression "oh! Allah".Ojalá means something like "let´s hope so",you say it when you wish that something good happens.

  • @MITHWORLD1

Actually "Ojalá" is cognate with Arabic "in sha' allah" or "inshallah" for short. In old Spanish the J was pronounced like English Sh, which is why you see that Portuguese pronounce it "Oxalá". This derived from Arabic "Law Sha' Allah," and both 'Law' and 'in' mean "if' in Arabic.

  • i was about to point that out, you beat me to it :)

  • @Irtidad .yes,oxalá is the other form but I hadn´t heard about law sha´Al´lah before,thank you!!

  • i love Yalla Yalla:)) i heard it from arab friends and i always use it when i'm speaking hungarian:))everybody likes it:))

  • Are you Muslim or Christian?

  • @DarkShadowAy

    Why is that important?

  • I can not believe that I am actually taking in an arabic language class from this video! Thank you for simplifying the pronunciation and the way to go about it in utterance. I rate this class topic 5 stars.

  • Hi Maha, great video :)

the expression "inshallah" originated in spanish the word "ojalá"

    bye and shukran!!
