What was he doing, getting into the excavator bakwards, did he jump to get in backwards? How did he snag it on his pant leg let alone left pants pocket. That lever is so far back that I dont believe the story! What a liar. Thats Bull Sh*t.
There is always a chance of something happening THAT IS WHY you never stand right next to something being lifted like that. There isnt anything wrong unloading the truck like that if you know how to hook up the chains right.. And give me a break about his pants catching his safety and pulling it down with his standing right there..
it might be the excuse the 360 op gave but are you seriously believing that he snagged the lock out on his way into the cab then his pocket snagged a lever?
in my experience most trucks that deliver barrier walls usally send a barrier lifter and i have used excavators many times to lift barriers but never with chains like that
its easy for a safety officer to say this and that , they are sitting on a perch, and dont know the reality of the situation, like the cost to the employer, who does not care about the safety of the employee at all.in some circumstances
I call BS on the "Pant Leg & Pocket" Theory. Gimme a break! The operator jumped back in & released the saftey interlock as he slid by to save 3 seconds then bumped the joystick as he tried to hit the seat while entering the machine to quickly/unsafely.
@onekeypianoplayer Companies will pay far less in hospital costs and insurance costs if workers start injuring and killling themselves far less than they are doing now. The savings in medical and insurance costs will pay for the fancy stuff. Either way is expensive, but the fancy way costs much less lives and limbs.
Never mind the total bullshit story the op gave...what was the driver doing standing where the op can't see his hand signals.
