I have had my acer 5930g for 3 years and I always get fraps to work every now and again but I think I found a permanent fix for xp users. I think win 7 upgrade / vista by default which I actually have but don't use as I prefer xp. Anyway go to realtek hd audio manager go to audio I/0 and tick ac 97 front panel support then press ok then you should hear hissing sound then untick it and I think this recognises the audio to work in xp if you have the right settings.
