I met Michael back in 1996 at Hillside COGIC in California where I first was introduced to that Cali sound. I was so blown away I started playing piano more than drums. He is a very talanted and nice guy too he share chords, you still won't catch em though. I caught a few.
Please dont just say the CALI SOUND bra bra! All over the WEST are we getting down the same...Either way it is your oppinion and your right..MUCH LOVE!
YES SIR!!! He held it down...and when he opened up the drawbars at 1:57, I was shocked, I had not heard the organ played like this for a good lil minute!! Needless to say, bruh killed on this one.
This dude is extremely talented. and what most people dont understand about him is that he is one of the most humble cats i've ever met. us musicians could learn alot from him.
This song has gotten into my spirit, and I find myself wanting to hear it over and over again. Michael is definitely a monster. I also like Derrick Jackson's style of classical/gospel. I need more vids!
lol, Michael Bereal is the absolute truth. First came across him on Marvin Sapp's "Diary Of A Psalmist"...He murdered the organ on "There's Something About That Name"...
Kevin Bond and Michael Bereal are my go to cats for licks and vibe...Please post more!
yes sir!...I almost wrecked my car the first time I heard "there's something about that name"...I was like "WHO IN THE *swerve* WORLD IS *swerve* THIS CRUSHIN THIS ORGAN?!?!"
I agree...I'm waiting for someone to post the video of Marvin Sapp's "Worship Medley"....Kevin Bond starts it off and Mike Bereal finishes it off....they also play together on some of TD Jakes' stuff.
Bereal has the best organ solo on youtube because no one has yet matched his dynamics ( & He's anointed). If you need a gospel band build it around this cat. Of course K.Bond, J. White, E.Brown, & A.Lindsey are in the same class.(Just my Opinion)
I grew up on the east coast...lol BADNEWS 2^2down! Newport News VA all the way. I love in KY now though. Been following that style since K. Bond surfaced. K. Bond, C. Thompson, J. White, Mike B., Eddie Brown...feel me?
You know it, I played for a few churches in VA. Faith temple COGIC, Holy Tabernacle Church of Deliverance, Denbigh Baptist, Triumph Church of Deliverance! In between Ft Eustis, and downtown Newpuhnews (how you TRULY pronounce it) I was lovin it! I miss it for real forreal!
the only way that the song gets lost is if someone is on the organ or keyboard doesnt know what hes doing micheal bereal knows what hes doing on the kim burrell video he was backing her up and folling her she does the same thing with her singing and if you try to follow her and play straight you and her will clash because she knows how to sing different notes do runs that are outside of the standard way so mike was just following her the way your supposed to
Agreed, Michael Bereal is one of the best to ever do it. When a singer is staying true to the melody, no matter how abstract...the accompanying ideas are limitless.
Mike Bereal has got to be one of the hottest musicans in the west coast!

and the guy name bigthinka said that he cant play
huntguard40 4 years ago
never said that. The guy is an awesome player. I just don't appreciate the type of accompaniment he gave Kim Burrell on that other video.
But let it go brother. My point was that some COGIC players obscure the tune so much that the beauty of songs get's lost.
bigthinka 4 years ago
