Apparently this isn't Flemish at all. It's Limburgish, a Dialect that is spoken in Eastern Flanders and south Eastern Netherlands.

The dialects in the area you mean are all very different from one another.. :) I'm from the city this was shot in, so I understand it, but one of my friends is from a city that's also in Limburg and she didn't understand a thing.. :) It pretty much goes : dutch, flemish, limburgish accent, sint-truidens dialect..

@Alexthegreatbelgian lol films aren't mean't to be watched a specific way. films are made to be enjoyed, thats the core point of a film. as for subtitles, its not hard to do something when you've spent all your life doing it and personally, i've watched a lot of subtitle stuff so its not so much of a hassle but most people dont and so its hard for them to enjoy it. to watch a film and pay attention to subtitles requires a lot more concentration making it less enjoyable to watch

I personally love foreign films. Yet it seems as people are immediately turned off by a movie because it’s not in English or because it’s not American. The place of origin of a film does not infringe it’s content, many people have to realize that the rest of the world exists and makes movies, and furthermore that not everyone in the world speaks English.

@DavidLeeEubank the place of origin can effect the film. for most people its the case of a language barrier and the annoyance they find of subtitles. i have to say, though i like a lot of foriegn films, typically japanese ones like battle royale and such, even i find subtitles a bit of a bother :/ i dont think people hate foreign films, just find them harder to get into

Unlike our french and german neighbours, who dub all of their foreign films and tv series, we belgians subtitle every single movie, often even our own belgian made movies (because the accents vary immensely from city to city and belgian film focuses heavily on accents). In fact most belgians can't stand it if something is dubbed, because it feels unnatural. We want to see a film as it was meant to see, in its own language.
