My last post wasn't sent in its entirety. (damn these smart phones) Let me finish by saying if this particular owner rescued the dogs in the video, and all that ear mutilation was done by previous owners, then I certainly applaud him for opening his heart & home. No question.
Nice healthy looking dogs. Too bad someone completely mutilated all their ears by doing such shitty cropping. My Pits (all rescues) have beautiful and correctly formed natural ears which, IMO, is the only way they should be.

it seems to have become a big sport to look at videos on utube and get hyper critical , look for the positives a little . these dogs are well trained and well mannered , way beyond the norm for most dogs I see . The other big sport is telling others what they can do with their own dogs . keep training - be a pack leader and your dogs will love you . The weak submissive owners are the ones that produce dogs that bite kids in the face .

@dogtrainerthe I never said I agreed with cropping, it's pointless and so is the docking of the tail (unless the dog has an injury to the tail in which it would be beneficial to remove part of the tail to save the dog pain, which I'm not saying docking isn't painful I'm just saying a little bit of pain to save from a lot of pain in the future is worth it). But in a general sense, docking and cropping are highly unnecessary and actually takes away from the beauty of the dog.
@gnossticc learn the reason some breeds crop and dock. even if we don't use them for what they are breed for, doesn't mean we cant have a dog of these breeds meet the standards of the work they are breed for.

@godislove181 its cruel when people do it themselves yes, but also when people take them to a pro. its not just the physical cropping of the ears thats whats cruel about it, its the fact that you're disabling one of a dog's major senses - its hearing. cropping removes an important part of the ear that the dog can use to protect its fine hearing from abrasive sounds that could damage it. it also can result in an amplification of all sounds which is totally aggravating and stressful!

I just want to add my opinion, I don't think pit bulls have big floppy ears. I think they are perfectly fit to their heads, and add a lot of expression I wouldn't want to miss! I think its so cute when one is flipped inside out for a sec., but i can't help to flip it back over before he gets to it. I can tell a lot by my dogs ear position, i wouldn't want to do w/o those clues to his feelings and state of mind.
Tail cropping was done to avoid infection. Their tails are so thick that farmers and hunters had to deal with their dogs getting infected. Now, it's not really needed. Ear cropping was done to avoid ear infections. As an owner of a dog who had floppy ears I can say for a fact that dogs with floppy ears get ear infections very easily. I had to clean her ears more often than not because dirt, ear wax, etc. gets trapped in the ear on dogs with floppy ears. Again, it's not really needed any more.
@rosewolfamethyst actually the spaniards started ear cropping centuries ago on ther alanos and tail docking so when at war the alanos had less things for the humans to grab hold of to control them.

ear cropping was not started so they could hear better..apparently you know nothing about the breed. it was started because the ears are floppy and if they are cut during a pit fight with a bull there is blood everywhere! so they cut them off to avoid more than necessary pain! i dont agree with the cropping, but if someone else wants to do it, it is their choice. He's aware of the pain he inflicts, and why i might do that, barely ever, i'm just sayin, i have, and i know he feels that shit. he only play nibbles, but sometimes, he catches me the wrong way, and i have to express he needs to chill out. However, if you have a female dog, and don't plan to breed or spay her you won't be able to take her out into public when she is in heat.

A long time ago dog trainers would crop ears in order for the dog to hear better and be more alert. Mainly on guard and attack dogs like the Doberman, Neapolitan Mastiff, German Mastiff, and the Pit just to name a few. Dumbasses!

Not a fan of the ear croping... I have owned the breed for 16 years and unfortunately when my girls pass on I am not able to own any more because of BSL. this is the most misunderstood breed around. In north america there will be around 4 million dogs bits this year. Want to know how many are done by pitbulls? pick up a news paper. that is what sells. People are like trained seals. They wont research or think for themselves. let the politicians do it for them. BSL sucks!!!

Dude, my dogs still have all their ears lol. I don't crop or dock. I have one pit with a badly docked tail, that some other ignorant ass did while he was a pup. He's a rescue...actually they all are. Except one, there are 4 pits in my house, one goes with each person. My dog (the one registered to me) is a 70lb pit-lab mix who came to me on the verge of death and with a broken rib from where his former owner's boyfriend kicked him. I'm not arguing respect with someone who doesn't know what it is
@laica2003 i have a rescued female pit who came to me so thin she looked like a dobie. her ears were cropped too. now she is healthy, has gerat muscle tone and adores us. i do have to be careful when she is near me because she will hurt me with that tail sometimes lol. my male has his tail and ears all natural. he used to be dog aggressive but i have broken him of that through training and voice commands

@dogtrainerthe I never said I agreed with cropping, it's pointless and so is the docking of the tail (unless the dog has an injury to the tail in which it would be beneficial to remove part of the tail to save the dog pain, which I'm not saying docking isn't painful I'm just saying a little bit of pain to save from a lot of pain in the future is worth it). But in a general sense, docking and cropping are highly unnecessary and actually takes away from the beauty of the dog.

@godislove181 its cruel when people do it themselves yes, but also when people take them to a pro. its not just the physical cropping of the ears thats whats cruel about it, its the fact that you're disabling one of a dog's major senses - its hearing. cropping removes an important part of the ear that the dog can use to protect its fine hearing from abrasive sounds that could damage it. it also can result in an amplification of all sounds which is totally aggravating and stressful!

@luvvkesha lol first of all u just proved my point, people dock the ears because they want their dogs to look cooler/nicer or what ever you want to call it. the fact is there isnt NO POINT in doing, unless their being used for hunting, such as wild boar as some cultures still do. It may also be necessary for medical reasons. but when idiots like gangsters do it because it looks cooler then its stupid, the dog has no idea its ears are docked. and no its not cruel at all when done right.

I just want to add my opinion, I don't think pit bulls have big floppy ears. I think they are perfectly fit to their heads, and add a lot of expression I wouldn't want to miss! I think its so cute when one is flipped inside out for a sec., but i can't help to flip it back over before he gets to it. I can tell a lot by my dogs ear position, i wouldn't want to do w/o those clues to his feelings and state of mind.

Tail cropping was done to avoid infection. Their tails are so thick that farmers and hunters had to deal with their dogs getting infected. Now, it's not really needed. Ear cropping was done to avoid ear infections. As an owner of a dog who had floppy ears I can say for a fact that dogs with floppy ears get ear infections very easily. I had to clean her ears more often than not because dirt, ear wax, etc. gets trapped in the ear on dogs with floppy ears. Again, it's not really needed any more.

ear cropping was not started so they could hear better..apparently you know nothing about the breed. it was started because the ears are floppy and if they are cut during a pit fight with a bull there is blood everywhere! so they cut them off to avoid more than necessary pain! i dont agree with the cropping, but if someone else wants to do it, it is their choice. AND learn the breed before you say something stupid!!!!

However, if you have a female dog, and don't plan to breed or spay her you won't be able to take her out into public when she is in heat.
Sometimes it's better to spay/neuter your dogs.

A long time ago dog trainers would crop ears in order for the dog to hear better and be more alert. Not a fan of the ear croping... I have owned the breed for 16 years and unfortunately when my girls pass on I am not able to own any more because of BSL. this is the most misunderstood breed around. In north america there will be around 4 million dogs bits this year. Want to know how many are done by pitbulls? pick up a news paper. that is what sells. People are like trained seals. They wont research or think for themselves. let the politicians do it for them. BSL sucks!!!

@madmanmike69 it's sad that pitbulls get the brunt of all of that. more times than not it was actually another breed all together. i have read in the paper about a little boy getting attacked by a pitbull, but it was a picture of a yellow lab. i have known many pits and none of them would attack anybody, even if they came from a bad situation. what a lot of people don't know about them is they're also one of the most forgiving breeds known to man. yet they die because of what they are.

As i see it they are better of without the tips, if they have to fight to defend it will help them. I know people who take these kind of dogs to defend the house of wild dogs, not having ears is definitly an advantage whilst fighting.

Dude, my dogs still have all their ears lol. I don't crop or dock. I have one pit with a badly docked tail, that some other ignorant ass did while he was a pup. He's a rescue...actually they all are. Except one, there are 4 pits in my house, one goes with each person. My dog (the one registered to me) is a 70lb pit-lab mix who came to me on the verge of death and with a broken rib from where his former owner's boyfriend kicked him. I'm not arguing respect with someone who doesn't know what it is

@laica2003 i have a rescued female pit who came to me so thin she looked like a dobie. her ears were cropped too. now she is healthy, has gerat muscle tone and adores us. i do have to be careful when she is near me because she will hurt me with that tail sometimes lol. my male has his tail and ears all natural. he used to be dog aggressive but i have broken him of that through training and voice commands

@thehomefront wow, if you're going to say something, you should check to make sure it isn't ignorant first. Jeeze I swear if I heard someone ask me that in person about my pits, I'd ask them to pause, go in the house, put baby powder on my right hand, then bitch slap their ass.

@thehomefront ok in my profile is my female pit, clearly not inbred, and yes her ears are cropped but it was done before i rescued her. lol i watched your video and i had to laugh @ your comments about kicking and trying to make your dog human aggressive. keep treating the dog like that and you will be the human it is aggressive against. no need to own a dog you can't control and from what i have seen, your dog is in control. both of my pits listen to every command i give them
