There is a big difference between good defence and hitting dirty with an elbow. It's ok to use elbow for blocking technique like stop, modified leverage guard, blocking and parrying and this position helps also to do sholder roll or drop back. So protecting against right swings, hooks and uppercuts and keeping another one from inside fighting is a good technique. Like just because you can accidentally hit groin with uppercut doesn't make it a dirty trick. :)

Well the reason that being was because Hatton was being very dirty in that fight. Hatton was trying to clinch Mayweather and head butt him, well Mayweather responded by putting his elbows out so that way Hatton could headbutt himself right into Floyd's elbow.

If you look at the first Castillo fight you'll see that after the ref Draculich warned Floyd about pushing off with his elbow and took that away from Floyd that Castillo was bombing away at Floyd and won the fight in the eyes of many, including myself. He's a very sneaky fighter and he is dirty.
I know Mayweather is one dirty mofo. But what I'm seeing in this video aint really why I think he fights dirty. His elbows are bigtime weapons in his arsenal but its mostly for defensive purposes. I seen him go for a lead right hand a bunch of times and immediately stick his elbows out in front of his opponent to muffle their countershots. He even uses his elbows to push off of his opponent (mostly around the chest and neck area) as soon as he lands a lead powershot in order to not get hit back.

yea, but that's like saying reggie miller invented the jump shot, or tim hardaway revolutionized the crossover because they did it so well..
they didn't really invent anything. but what they did do, along with mayweather, is take techniques and styles that already existed, and perfected them.
mayweather hasn't revolutionized shoulder rolling, or left hooks, or counter punching, etc.. he's just taken all those elements and worked on them so much that he's perfected that style of boxing.

Well the reason that being was because Hatton was being very dirty in that fight. Hatton was trying to clinch Mayweather and head butt him, well Mayweather responded by putting his elbows out so that way Hatton could headbutt himself right into Floyd's elbow.
It's just fighting dirty with dirty.

If you look at the first Castillo fight you'll see that after the ref Draculich warned Floyd about pushing off with his elbow and took that away from Floyd that Castillo was bombing away at Floyd and won the fight in the eyes of many, including myself. He's a very sneaky fighter and he is dirty.

I know Mayweather is one dirty mofo. But what I'm seeing in this video aint really why I think he fights dirty. His elbows are bigtime weapons in his arsenal but its mostly for defensive purposes. I seen him go for a lead right hand a bunch of times and immediately stick his elbows out in front of his opponent to muffle their countershots. He even uses his elbows to push off of his opponent (mostly around the chest and neck area) as soon as he lands a lead powershot in order to not get hit back.

This video is all Facts, I've been boxing for 3 years and nothing can prepare U for a dirty fighter. Most of the things N this video the Ref doesnt even notice or cant stop from happening. Most boxers use any technique clean or dirty 2 win. Its more of a mental game, Fighting dirty frustrates your opponent. Especially when U look 2 the Ref for help. Great Video...
