Thanks for sharing your video with us. Your obviously an intelligent kid. Keep learning about reef keeping or whatever else interests you. The more you understand the better your corals or whatever else is depending on you for care will do. Good luck.
its a nice video ....and gotta say nice corals..............................i don't know i think got a problem of green hair algae in u'r tank......and i think that is bad for he inhabitants of the tank well check the thing.............. well i don't know i may be wrong.... but still
That's a big fuckin bristle worm man..if I even see a tiny one i completely stay away from that side of the tank lol..some good looking corals though man..and i'm not tryin to be a dick or anything, but your feeding seems to be a bit messy..do you ever get water quality issues from it?
That's a lot of food in the tank. You should feed your candy cane corals at night when their tentacles are out. When they are not out, the food will just fall off.
hey, thanks for puttin this video up, and how often do u feed the corals, and i have a frogspawn now too =) so do u think i could feed my torch coral and hammer coral the same way u fed ur frogspawn? ill probly get a syringe cus like animalmastermtd said its more precise, and how do u feed ur mushroom, i tried to feed mine last night but the mysis shrimp kept fallin off him =\
i feed my corals like every week and a half.and yeah you can feed them mysis. and my mushroom closes every time i put the food on him he closes up by himself. for a while he wouldn't eat. so i dont really know just give it some time haha.
I actually don't use a turkey baster. I use a syringe. It works 10 times better! It is more precise, easier to clean, and it is a lot smaller. You should try it sometime.
O yeah, I have a 125G tank! It should be set up in 2-3 months!
ok i will be sure to try it sometime. and thanks :).... wow thats a big step up from what you have now haha i cant wait to see it. and good i ordered everything yesterday like live rock light pump. i have a heater skimmer and canister filter o and i ordered sand yesterday. so im just waiting now and it should be up soon. and i have to paint the back of the tank black with that special paint. but its almost done!! thank god i dont want to wait any longer lol.
you dont have a sump for the 55? i suggest getting a 20g long and doing a sump, canister filters arnt that good for saltwater, you have to clean it almost every day because of salt creep and the media in the filter traps alot of salt lowering salinity//sg. im thinking though that you're going to ditch the filter media and just put live sand and live rock in it right? =P
no i was just going to clean it often. the only problems i have heard about are nitrates and thats cause people dont clean or change the filter media enough. but we will see how it goes haha if it doesnt work i have a duel hang
part two..........on back carbon floss filter that will work i just wanted something a little better. and allot of people that have 55 gallons say it isnt necessary to have a sump. they say it is pretty much just a storage place for the skimmer and that kind of stuff and i have a hang on back skimmer. i got 55 pounds of live rock witch removes nitrates. and 40 pounds of sand. so as long as i keep up with the work i should have a pretty good system going.
the bacteria living in/on the rocks helps break down/turn ammonias into NITRITES and NITRITES into nitrate but what aquarists use to remove nitrates from the water is your maco algae's in your refugium/sump and frequent water changes
yeah i heard about the macro and cheeto grass. but idk the forums keep saying that and a few sites did when i googled it. but yeah i also read the macro and water changes to haha
yeah. but live rock can actually be nitrate hazards. out of no where it can hold onto a bit of nitrate that can keep growing in quantity and be released out of nowhere and cause a giant nitrate spike. btw im digging the hair algae on the HOB filter =P
i haven't seen any in my tank. I'll feed the snails and crabs i have every other day. Just 1ml of water/brine shrimp mix not a lot. Just to make sure they are getting stuff. When i do the nassarius snails come out of nowhere lol. They hide in the sand bed. I haven't seen any bristle worms, thank god. I know their not a bad thing they're just ugly and id rather not have them in my tank.
yeah i hear ya haha they arent pretty. and im worried cause im pretty sure some are going to get into my 55 gallon and i really dont want that to happen lol.

rocks dont remove nitrates lol

well than how come every where i looked today it said the biological filtration from live rock will remove nitrates.
