  • @Illyria144 Generally a live performance should be better than a pre-recorded version.

Do you prefer listening to this version, or the studio version.

I think someone played with voice enhancement too much on the studio version, as he cant sing like the studio version live.

  • i dont like this song live

  • The backing singers are great. Bowie can not sing.

  • @mikev343 i think his 30+ year career would disagree with you...

  • Did Status Quo snort more cocaine than David |Bowie? No.

  • would i try

  • We need another British Invasion here in America

  • percussionist is a chap named Pedro Ottis Not sure of spelling of the surname though.

  • Would anyone know who is the percussionist of the band?

  • Both were the best. I couldn't seen it live. They broadcast ed deferred here in Mexico. But Bowie and Queen were absolutely the best of all.

  • thanks David Bowie to create music like this was always your fan, I went since I was child, you are great.

  • DAVID BOWIE IS SO EFING AMAZING!!!

  • What an awesome singer and performance. Cranked the bass on this one!

  • Looks like Pinkpop.

Bowie changed his name to "Bowie" anyone know why?

  • 2rainbowed,he changed his name to Bowie due to his fertile creativity, perhaps(?)Who cares! his music WAS, IS, and WILL BE heard til... til "...time falls wanking to the floor"

  • the REAL reason he changed his name to Bowie was to avoid confusion with Davey Jones of The Monkees

  • He was going round as Davie Jones, but changed it to Bowie after Jim Bowie the hero of the Alamo and his "Bowie" knife, to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees.

  • i love the way he sort of dances up to the microphone at 0.27

this is a great version also

  • @SeanARTYCronie He was a smooth dude! Still is...

  • I wish i was there..

  • Live Aid anyone?

Whoo! I have this on DVD. :D

David bowie is the father of my children. :)

at least, in my dreams. :/

  • bella performance,pezzo coinvolgente

  • I hate when levels are off at concerts, can barely hear the winds. And I hate when performers change the way they sing a song so much that it starts to suck, this is a borderling example.

  • it's hard when you say "hate". it's not really something that offends you

  • è il numero uno.

  • David Bowie was the best performer of Live Aid with Queen.

  • @lesassassins And Led Zep !!

  • @lesassassins

very true, I got through a lot of beer that day

  • absolute sahne

  • absolutely love this song ! ! ! !

  • This is one of the best live performances of this song by Bowie. Bowie = Quality.

  • The song style is a bit different and this must be later 80s because his voice is somewhat deeper.

  • espectacular.

    saludos from spain

  • Don't you just wanna grope his hair..?

  • That is some Bad ass hair.

  • Inguardabili ma bella canzone

  • amazing...... i cant stop watching it!

  • 1985, in july if I remember well, great show with bowie, queen, u2 having great performances

  • it might have been 85 coz i see the live aid banner, thats wen live aid was and also 2005

  • When was this? What year?

  • Live Aid 1985

  • In my opinion the best one is Scary Mosters. ;)

  • es una cancion muy bacana,

  • haha i think there might have been booze in

that thing he took a drink from.

    LOL

    hottieeeeeee

  • What's with the naked bongo playing dude...

  • Frickin killer ass performance. Gosh, we had it made back in the day....so blessed to have so much awesome music.

  • lol

have you noticed that sometimes he mixes the lyrics up in a different order sometimes??

    hahadorable

  • Can anyone recommend me a good album from David Bowie?

My english is not very well looking, I know.

  • Let's Dance!

  • hmm.

yound americans is a great album :D

    hehe

  • Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is the best in my opinion ;]

  • I love Diamond Dogs. Not for the popular songs but for Sweet Thing/Candidate, Rock N Roll With Me, We Are The Dead. "I'm glad that you're older than me,makes me feel important and free. Does that make you smile? Isn't that me?" "Is it nice in your snowstorm, freezing your brain. Do you think that your face looks the same?" The lyrics from that album and some of the dirty guitar parts are emotional. They leave an impression. That album made me start playing guitar 20 years ago.

  • The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust is great, and The Best Of Bowie will give you all his best songs from the 60's to 2001

  • who is the beautiful blonde singing back-up? I can't make out her name when Bowie introduces her before "Heroes" at this event..

  • I wish I knew. She's hot.

  • Her name is Tessa Niles. She's a very popular backup singer for British Performers especially Eric Clapton, Duran Duran etc.

  • Thanks, Paul. I knew there would be some person out there who had this tidbit of info.

From your note, I'm assuming she is still singing... is this correct?

  • I believe she is; even though it's been 22 years since Live Aid. She started her career in 1979. I think she recently went on tour with Duran Duran. Another bit of Bowie backup trivia: on the concert video the backup singers are brothers, Frank and George Simms. They were locally (NY) popular jazz singers in the late 70s and 80s!

  • I found some online photos of Tessa, as well as a few of her husband... who looks much like I do! So much that my son thought it was a pic of me as he looked over my shoulder. So... I'm thinkin'...if her husband would somehow "disappear"... I wonder if she'd notice if I took his place? Spent much time in the U.K, married a Brit, so I could get the accent down well... The tough part would be musical talent, given that I have none...

  • i didnt know he could pack a stadium like that!

  • Pack astadium...?

He is top 5 pop culture!

  • Bowie's performance at LiveAid was quite possibly the best of that evening.

  • Comment removed

  • If you are lucky enough to see Bowie in concert you never get just a rendition of the original recording, you can sit at home and listen to that. He always changes something. Check out Rebel Rebel & Life On Mars on his Reality tour... AWESOME!!!!

  • I like it this way.

  • This is my absolute favorite song in the world. And it would have been ten times better if Bowie would have sang this the original way.

  • Top form!

  • i love this song!! bowie is the best!!
