  • Love it :P Reminds me of the music in Mafia, the computer game :P

  • Intresting...

  • in the contract, drawn for Django's concert in Holland before the war, Bianchi was included as a substitute for Django (in case Django's reputation was true and he wouldn't show up...

    how about THAT!

  • Very enjoyable! Marcel Bianchi was a chameleon guitarist with no real style of his own. Sometimes he played like Django, sometimes Charlie Christian but tended more towards light pop, even Musak for most of the time. Amazingly versatile but perhaps lacking in musical credibilty and authority as a result.

However, when he performed like this in the Django style, I think he could swing much more than Baro, Sarane or Matelo Ferret ever did.

  • Hi Teddy,

Thought I recognized you. I've visited your channel in the past. You pretty much hit it spot on with the info in your post. Just wondering, do you know of any other info out there about Marcel and this era? There's a recount quote from Stephen Grappelli that speaks briefly about the time he and Django met him from the book The History of Gypsy Jazz. But that is about all Ive found.

    Cheers
