@idiotkrati I used a phoenix trinocular scope with a photo port where I could simply plunk my camera. However you can always get an "F mount" and attach a camera to the eyepiece. That is if you are interested in "trying this at home"
I have just started my hobby of the compound light microscope, and I am very stuck on finding literature on making permanent slides can you help. I have subscribed.
Unfortunately, I don't have the capabilities to record viruses doing anything. (They're way too small) If you do a search, somebody on here might have the equipment for it.
I lost one of the comments. For that individual, this protozoa is a free living animal. Usually found in ponds around Virginia southward in the wild. They are unique in that they have both chloroplasts in which to photosynthisize, and they also eat bacteria.
if it eats bacteria its a protozoa surely? and having a nucleus would not under go binary fission but prophase metaphase and all that, im confused, does it have a nucleus?
Yes. Euglena is kind of unique because it contains chloroplasts as well. This means they also undergo photosynthesis and create their own food via light just like plants. You are correct that it is eukaryotic. It does have a nucleus, It is a single celled organism, so they do undergo binary fission for reproduction. Mitosis is usually associated with multi-cellular organisms. You poke around youtube a bit and you'll find more advanced stuff. Enjoy!
I swear the whole video I was just saying "JUST SEPARATE ALREADY" haha...

How do you get stuff like this on a slide?

I use a little plastic pipetter. An eyedropper works too. 1 or 2 drops is sufficient.

Everything's time lapsed. I like seeing it in real time, for context.
