  • This guy is a flippen good rider. He is not doing equitation, he doing show jumping. His position is absolutely fine, in fact its pretty freakin great. He gives the perfect amount of release according the the height of the jump, and he keeps the horses going forward at a good pace. Cudos to him man.

  • I actually think this guy has a freaking SOLID leg, especially for these types of jumps.

  • Just by the way, I do not mean to say that eq riders don't know what they are doing. There are many very talented eq trainers/riders, but unfortunately it's the ones who DON'T know what they are doing are the ones who spout off about other riders. That said, I event, so I know the terrifying things some eventers do. I think I would have used a bit more of an auto release, but I am not nearly experienced enough to say HE.should.

  • No, doesn't look like an eq rider to me. Know what he looks like? A man who KNOWS what he is doing. Young, talented horses can have a lot of scope, and he is a 'real' trainer riding in an appropriate, more 'defensive style. He has an incredible, fluid, solid center of balance, & his release is appropriate, as kirstinkey said. Many 'eq' riders who throw their torsos over jumps wouldn't be able to get their bodies back in time & would end up taking a soil sample. His horses are having NO trouble.

  • Beautiful horse.

  • 2 point?

  • wow that black horse is beautiful, what breed?

  • That dog is very funny and cute and they can drive very well !

  • i love the black horse so much she is a blast to ride

  • This rider is releasing: he's just using a crest release. He's using an auto release. This is used by very controlled & well-schooled riders over larger fences to keep their hotter, stronger horses in balance. The reason young riders are taught crest releases is to save their horses' mouths while learning to jump, and because most of those horses don't have the athleticism or reactive attitude that top sporthorses do. This ride was great, very balanced a calm. Kudos!

  • @hidenseeker424 so if have a hot horse (in jumping only) I should let him jump higher? I'm not really that good but i wanta get back in to jumping, Its been for ever sence i jumped so even tho i use to be good im not that good any more. He use to be a jumper soo he's pretty good with the consept of jumping but he trys to take off soo i walk him up to it and sometimes he still over jumps...

  • @1233Maya No, definitely don't jump higher than you & your horse feel comfortable doing. My suggestion would be to go back to the basics: make sure your horse is focused and has his excess energy burned off before you jump. Do groundwork, poles, gymnastics, all to make him listen well to your aids and burn off nervous energy. You may need to work him for nearly an hour before jumping, if he's still not coming back how you want. Horses over-jump because they're nervous, excited, or...

  • @1233Maya ...not listening, or a combination of the three. It's natural to want to hold him back, but you want him to be moving off of your leg rather than fighting your hands. And this should all be done with the supervision of a trainer, I can't do a whole lot of critique over the Internet! You can certainly PM me if you have more questions, good luck, hope this helped!

  • you make it look easy!!!! :)

  • This guy has such amazing positioning!

  • you can't tell this guy how to ride over the computer. if he can handle horses over that many jumps and then stay on the horse on a jump that high, that right there requires a shitload of energy and balance. yes, maybe he should shorten his stirrups, yes, maybe a bigger crest release would look nice but what he did obviously worked for him and the horse. no one got hurt, the pole stayed up. THATS ALL thats important atm--its only schooling, not the olympics!!!

  • you need to shorten up your stirrups

  • and obviously he is not a "crappy rider", he is having even contact in the mouth for the horses balance, and obviously the horse has positive effects to it.

  • The first horse is a beautiful jumper!

  • there isn't much 'wrong' with the rider, he's not a h/j equitation queen like a lot of the people are who thinks he rides 'poorly.' He rides eventing style, with contact but not hanging on the horse's mouth, great leg. The mouth is closed in every frame, the horse's head is not flipping up/out, and the head telescopes on landing. The gray is obviously a slightly rushy/rammy jumper, and the black appears young. I think that it's just a different style of riding than you may be used to seeing.

  • dont u know how 2 take the sound outta the original vid?

  • I've only been riding for 4 years but I have the knowledge and observation skills to know that, even though this horse looks happy and is jumping very nicely, the rider is using the horses mouth for balance. In the slow motion portions, you can see the rider pulling back.. The horse is probably hard mouthed which is why he doesn't react to this. I'm not saying I'm a better rider, as I am not and I honestly think it's a great horse, but I just don't agree with the training techniques.

  • @memegme Someone that's been riding for only 4 years shouldn't tell someone that's been riding for 10+ years what to do. He is a very nice rider. He's not an EQ rider. He rides eventing style. I don't think he needs you correcting him. Plus do you see that dude in the middle of the ring. That's called an instructor. He'll tell the rider what he needs to do. Plus you've never ridden the horse. The horse may need a lot of contact. Horses jump hollow when the release isn't enough. He isn't hollow.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 Yeah I've only been riding for 4 years but I've picked up a lot along the way. I never said I knew more; I just said I didn't agree with the training and riding techniques. And I know what an instructor is; I have one myself. And honestly, this was more of a suggestion then telling someone what to or not to do. If people have a problem with it, that's their opinion. If people agree, great. It doesn't matter.

  • @memegme Every rider and trainer has a different technique to riding. Every horse is different and requires different amounts of leg, seat, & HAND pressure. My thoroughbred mare needs to have more contact than my dutch harness horse. You cannot say exactly how much pressure a horse needs especially if YOU HAVEN'T RIDDEN THAT HORSE. It may appear he's pulling on the horses mouth, but the horse shows NO discomfort. The horse could be incredibly speedy or really strong after landing.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 I know I get that. I've ridden a really nice horse that likes to go really fast and I realize how much pressure you need to keep them slow. But just a thought; wouldn't you release the head during the jump, and when you land then apply pressure again? That's just how it seems it should go..

  • @memegme Well during the gymnastic ^^^^ (which is what he's jumping. like the form of line or whatever) you don't have much time to adjust the reins after landing especially during the bounce strides. So you have to keep a consistent contact to keep the horse straight to make sure he jumps correctly. Now normally during a course when you have time after to adjust the reins, hands, seat etc. You would definetly want to release more. If the horse is speedy you'll want to use big half halts.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 Oh yeah.. I guess I just never thought of it that way. And I realize what you mean because he does have nice balance and form over the bigger jumps. I ride a mustang and we've done bounces many times, but I've never ridden a fast horse over gymnastic lines, just single jumps because we were switching horses one lesson. So I'm very sorry if I angered you or anyone else because I guess I just didn't realize, my mistake. Sorry!!

  • @memegme Well I mean I guess we're both kind of right. I mean I will say on some of the smaller fences he didn't release quite as much as he should have.

It's totally fine. I get angry easily anyway. I have to work on controlling myself too.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 An eye for an eye. And I'm right with you there. Sometimes it's just hard to say that you're wrong because like I have strong beliefs and I find it hard to believe that all objects fall at the same rate.. But I'm just weird haha soo it's all good.

  • thats a LOT of jumping for one horse trying to go over a 5 foot fence.

    Have you EVER been tired?

  • all i have to say is... RELEASE! slow motion was a bad idea on your part.

  • Seeing as this is a jumping video, I am going to be one of the few to critique the JUMPING. I don't know how old this horse is, how tall it is, or how long it's been jumping.

This horse has no scope and needs to tuck it's head in a bit more which has nothing to do with the rider.. It has fairly nice form over the fences and looks nice at regular speed for the most part, but when you slow it down, the hind legs need to be tucked in a little more over the smaller fences.

  • Where is this barn located?

  • anyone who is saying this man is not a good rider obviously has no idea what they are looking at. He is 100% in balance with both horses and because of that he has soft, independent hands. he is guiding them through the gymnastic, not pulling them. If he was pulling at all neither of the horses would be jumping as well as they are, and they clearly look happy and unhindered.

  • Ok anyone telling you (in person or these comments) that you're an amazing rider, obviously doens't ride themselves. Because this is terrible.

  • He's not yanking on the horses' mouths. Some horses like more contact, even though a jump, but it's very clear that he is following with his arms; he's not just holding the reins tight and his hands in one place. Also, there are many points, especially with the second horse, where the reins are loose during jumping and the horse lifting his head is not because the rider is pulling. He's a very good rider.

  • you are amazing! I dont get how people can diss your riding? your very balanced and your horse is focused and controlled! *Claps*

  • ease up on the reins a bit!! you have to release as the horse's neck lengthens over the jump, otherwise it puts them off balance and also it's just not nice to them!!! Seriously, it's great that you're trying, but know how to jump before you get on a horse that won't take crap, the one you're riding is really easy-going

  • you're a horrible rider! those horses were too amazing for you. they were literally dragging you over the jump when you were yanking on their mouths, they were just really well made horses. but i was flinching at your pulling! you were waiting at the wrong times and moving up at the wrong times.... learn to ride a bit more! the black one had springs and could go higher.... but please no, you yank. i mean, its not like i am better.... but still.

  • Excellent riding skills and beautiful, talented horse!!! :D

  • cute horse!!!

  • i love the guy at the ends face!!! XD

  • wow!!!

  • I love how he pom poms his tail after the jump and during. Kinda got a tight grip on the reins/mouth but very good! :)

  • it annoyed me greatly that it was the same jumps.. over.. and over.... anndddd ovvvveeerrrrr.. beautiful horses tho :)

  • u r pulling on the horses mouth

  • Dude's face at 1:22...priceless That horse is stunning though.(the grey)

  • wow, those horses are on springs! beautiful

  • Maybe the horse has a hard mouth from a past rider? But is it just me or does the black one look like something is up with his ankles whenever he steps down on them? I don't know if it's the quality of the video that makes things a bit blurry or what..

  • what kind of horse is the black one

  • okay obviously if the he was pulling on the horses mouth too much the horse either wouldnt jump or he would misbehave. the horse obviously doesnt mind it and maybe if he released more the horse would take off. i know horses like that.

    well done xx :)

  • That grey horse has a lovely jump and maintains his rhythm very nicely. =]

  • lol i love the old mans face when he jumps the last jump ahahaha had me rollling

:) nd dnt pull so puch on his mouth :P

  • I am in love with the Grey :D

  • [insert a "no offence"]

    [insert a highly offensive comment]

    [insert a ;)]

-sits back and waits for a heated discussion to start-

  • So I'm pretty sure I would kill for the first grey horse.....

Seriously though, give him a release. He quite obviously knows what hes doing and is damn good at it. He could do so much better with a better rider.

  • 1:21 Epic face... lol

  • @NaturalJumper1032 hahahahaha

  • wow those horses r amazing jumpers!!!!! i bet they wood be even better if they had a release!

  • lol at the guys face at 1:23 :D

  • @TheArgoguy i was like omg i have to comment about that but i'm like i bet some one already did lol and i was right.

  • Ushuaia was just stepping over them:')

  • Yeah well, my horse would have tried to go under ALL of those (:

  • that horse can fly, nice, amazing !!

  • @Dubin619 i notticed that aswell. his horses are amazing but not so much him. what kind of horses are they?

  • i laughed so hard @ 0.19

  • really beautiful and talented horses, you have a leg position that i envy.. but you pull on the horses faces too much, :s like with the gray at his highest, you should give him his head a lot more! and the black could do so much higher if you'd let him!

  • how can 9 people dislike ? The horses are nice, and the person who rides them loks like a verry good rider :)

  • LOL at 1:20! Anyway, that horse is such a nice jumper! :D

  • good man that horse is a very talented jumper. I would advise you to give the horse his/her head more1

  • LOL 1.20 (:

  • what's race?!!

  • Lovely horse.. makes it look easy! x]

  • omg this is the some from Spirit

  • those two horses are beautiful and Howards an amazing jumper

  • And he didn't even touch one pole.

My horse would have crashed in the first jump, knock all the poles and refuse the last jump, hehe.

  • just release a litle over the jumps beautiful horse

  • i know the guy doesnt give his hands enough but after reading those comments he is probably watching the videos thinking actually they have a point, he doesnt need everyone to say it!

  • thos horse could do so much better with a good rider

  • @PawzandClaws How the hell is that a bad rider?? Better than you could do I"m sure

  • no offence, but your' a crap rider... i kinda know its just the horse.... They are amazing.. the black one could go so much higher.. but you are pulling him way too much.. sorry just had to say that.. its not like i'm any better (:

  • @Dubin619 GTFO TROLL

  • @Dubin619 If he were a crappy rider his trainer wouldn't let him jump over 5ft.

  • @Dubin619 are you retarted? He is not a crap rider? Have you ever watched a real jumper/eventer who has constant contact with the bit for support, and I assure you he is pulling in the air so they horse will land on the right lead and have proper balane. Your an idiot, he is a great rider.

  • @jumpersaw hellooooooo, this comment was three months ago.. and look how many likes there are? there are loads of comments telling me how im wrong and they never got any likes.. i don't mean crap.. i just don't think he should be doing that level, its obvious these aren't grand pre horses, and i just think they need i little bit more release. jeez, don' get the police :/

  • @Dubin619 well obviously there are 17 other clueless people out there. But it's rude to go calling people out, who are obviously legit riders, and call them crap. People have feelings, and just because it's over the computer doesn't mean you can go calling them out, when they are obviously better than you and I both. And I'm sure you mean Grand Prix? And they very likely could be doing that level.

  • @Dubin619

how do u expect someone to take no offence to a RUDE comment.

he may not be perfect but he ISNT crap. Go bug someone else who care what you think.

  • @Dubin619 first of all, you even said you arent better... so you have no right to even comment like this. Second, when jumping this big, the horses are really high-strung. if you give them too much of a crest release they will just run away with you. now i think it is great that this guy has his horses jumping this big and has the BALLS to do it! Do you? because if you just sit here looking to talk smack about people to make yourself feel better and you cant do it.. thats sad.

  • Idk if you can.. but jus' sayin.. Now i never said anything about me being better than anyone so dont go off saying "well you cant" and "i doubt you can ride" cause i sure as hell know i cant jump this high. I ride a 14'2 hh pony... granted we do novice eventing... but 3ft does not compare to 5'3''. So i just want to let you know that "no offence" doesnt make offence go away.

  • The grey horse has an amazing jump, looks like its playing in slow motion! :)

  • i want this horse! you guys make that look so un effortful

  • i love the random dog in the middle. Great job!

  • nice quiet rider, very balanced =]

  • this horse is a saint!! you pulled on his mouth and didnt even release

  • amazing but could be even more better with a release on the grey horse.

  • this horse jumps amazingly

  • i <3 how the dog comes out randomly at 2:16

  • Stunning:):) great job!! beautiful horse:D

  • ***what breed is the grey horse? it is absolutely stunning :)

  • that is AWESOME!!! =)

  • its so nice to see someone who looks like they've actually trained their horse to jump instead of throwing up a 4ft fence and having there horse throw themselves over it. Anyone can jump a 4ft fence on its own on a straight line but it takes lots of training to get the horses to jump like that with such a nice shape

  • 1 word A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-!-!-!-!

  • I'm not sure if I should be one to judge as I haven't jumped that big...but shouldn't you try to release more? I mean you keep the horses really tight, you ride the line rigid and throw your but back, try giving more over the jump, relaxing your seat and back a bit and raising your but up and out after the horse's rear legs clear the jump, the more rein you give the easier it is for the horse, otherwise good job. :)

  • beautiful.

  • Gorgeous horses!! :O

  • The grey is amazing. Though with a bigger release, he would round up more because he would be able to use his neck more over the jump.

  • Woah, he could jump me!

  • that grey is stunning, i want him.

  • What breed is the black one?? Beautiful horses :)

  • Jolie ralentie !!!

  • wow! the highest I've ever jumped was 3foot with my 13.2hh pony! whoa!!! =D your sooooooo lucky, that horse is beautiful.

  • that horse is sooo amazing!

  • Ok, I understand! It was just a comment to help, but yes you are right. And as you know your horse better than me, was just to help

  • Attention, you not give your hand enough & sat down too fast in your saddle. But beautiful horse ;)

  • @xeugeniie no, if you are jumping that hight on a horse that wants to go forward, you have to keep a really good contact throughout the jump - still move with the horses head and all but you cant give 100% - my horse is like that, if you are jumping over 1.20 I have to give a little less and be really still else he gets to stretched out and he goes way to close to the jump and chips it. it doesnt look like a lot of movement, but you have to be reeeaaalllly still :D

  • They are gorgeous!!!!!!(: are any of them for sale?!

  • that horse is amazing and the person is such a great rider.

  • someone i know competes in this sort of jumping and he has a great horse but ive never seen any horse as good as this doing it o: x

  • someone i know competes in this sort of jumping and he has a great horse but ive never seen any horse as good as thin doing it o: x

  • someone i know competes in this sort of jumping and he has a great horse byt im never seen any horse as good as thin doing it o: x

  • The grey horse makes the course look like a piece of cake! annd the black horse is just goregus ;)

  • I LOOOOOOVE HIS CANTER!

  • that horse makes everything look soooo easy

  • releases? All the riders at this barn seem to ride the same. Maybe more dressage and flat work for connection and roundness and earning the rides? Jumping big in a grid is "fun", sure, we all love it, but being in a shoot doesn't make a rider necessarily ready for a bit out gate. NO bascule on these horses, but trainers in barns need to keep their clients happy I suppose.

  • Ooh, I thought this was in Florida.

Maybe I'll visit sometime. I'm interested in some Hunter/Jumper Warmbloods.

  • i loved the grey horse! he looked so happy to be doing what he was doing (:

  • i cud jump that with my eyes closed

    anyway hopw is that 5ft3

  • this horse obviously loves to jump... :)

  • Man's face after the last jump...Priceless :D Good jumping too....I like how every two strides you took the next jump :)

  • hahha random dog!! =]

  • Nice, but i dont think thats 5ft

  • whats this footing???

  • I don't see where the 5'3" is nothin is dat heigh in this video really only bout 4'4"

  • <3 this song :D makes me wanna watch spirit and be with my horse

  • You are an AMAZING rider, you barely even move up there!! :) great job :D

  • The brown horse jumps well, the grey leaves his front legs behind a tad, but theyre lovely horses and @evookee definately a LOL at the guy in the striped shirt :)

  • soo gracfulll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats great and you cant say what he needs to if you cant even do that good come on. great ride

  • Actually that was brilliant riding. The horse does not need more of a release. And the reins are just fine. Dont know what you are talking about.

  • You can tell the horse loves jumping:)

  • YOU DONT GIVE THE HORSE ENOUGH REINS !!!!! I MEAN YOU SHOULD LEANGTHEN YOUR REIGNS !!!!!! BUT APART FROM THAT EXELENT RIDING AND THE OST BEAUTIFUL HORSE TOO!!!!!!! KEEP UP RIDING¬!

  • @Brigadierbingycarlux nah his reins are fine but he needs to release with his reins. He really should have learned that BEFORE jumping higher than like 3'6

  • I love the horse and the guy rides really well, Although i think he should follow with his hands a little better, don't throw the hands, just release a little

  • I WANT THAT HORSE!

  • people. honestly. stop going on at the guy. it was great riding. you dont know anything about the horse. maybe its strong? maybe it needs more contact? Both horses were jumping really well. He was folding enough over the jumps for what their size was. The vid's two years old anyway, what can you say thats going to alter time?

dont try and improve something that there's nothing wrong with.

  • need to loosen up on the rein a little horse will round a bit better

  • Hahahah I love how everyone becomes a horse expert on Youtube. There's clearly nothing wrong with these horses and if there is, (this video being over two years old) it's probably been sorted out by now.

I agree that he should have given the reins a bit more on the grey, but I'd rather see someone keeping decent rein contact instead of just throwing their hands at the horse's ears. :P

  • wwwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • you need to go forward over the jumps ur feet are but you'r not ..not helping the horse att all...also the dark bay horse needs to be checked over he doesnt look happy at all...

  • @rachelsbeauty No I don't think they to do that. If you go to forward at that height, you can put the horse off balance and you'll probably fall straight off it's neck...

  • is the black/dark bay a bit stiff in any way as he looks a bit hunched when jumping? excellent horses and obediaent:)

  • i think it is more american i am english and does not look like our jumping position i dont think

  • real horselovers sub me :D

  • He just soars over those jumps :D x ( the grey )

  • He just soars over those jumps :D x

  • you need to give a bit more with ur hands all u seem to be doing is gobbing the poor horses gorgous horses though

  • how long at you beeen riding?

  • ok...sry but i have to ask how are the poor horses are supposed to enjoy jumping if you aren't releasing and just pulling on their mouths over the whole jump????

  • @horsechic1212 he is releasing-he is just keeping light contact. if he were to give the horse a loose rein in such tight spaced lines, they would loose their distance and balance. if the jumps had been a little farther apart, he would have been able to release more.

  • u def. need to tuck ur arms in on the side of the horse over the jump...an example is SuperPonyRidur

  • he has no release and sits down over the jump, must hurt the horses mouth and back

  • Look at the guy in the striped shirt at 1:20-1:24 lol

  • @Evookee haha ikr his mouth was like :O

  • @Evookee

    LOL
