This is a pet snake, snakes are picky eaters. They aren't going to eat kibble n bits and many snakes refuse to eat dead creatures for that matter. Snakes require the entire body of a live rat in order to complete their nutritional diet (the fur, meat, bones, organs).

Also it's called curiosity. I remember a decade ago all the boys in middle school were heavily interested in the biology teachers snake when it was fed a live mouse.

Oh, and to your question. Yes, in the wild they are rather vulnerable, but usually not from other predators. It is very common for the prey to kill the snake instead of the other way around. This is one of many reasons that it's a bad idea to feed a pet snake live prey. Ball pythons (like the one in this vid) don't have the problem of other predators as they actually raid underground rodent nests, driving out all it's tenants but one...it eats that one.
