I led hundreds of convoys in Iraq in 2005. The reason they are constantly on the Horn and bumping the cars is because if they stop, they might draw an ambush in heavy traffic. They are not trying to be assholes, they are trying to keep the civilians safe by staying on the move. Another point is, Iraqis are not very attentive drivers and are very aggressive drivers there are no traffic laws over there other than vary basic ones like "drive on the right" "Have 4 tires that hold air".
I would find this a bit more reasonable if they had a siren or something! *beep*beep*beep* does not seem to be getting the message across! But they really are dong a very good job and don't do any more damage than they have to. I agree they were driving a bit recklessly but to be honest, if you are a target in your vehicle and want to avoid IEDs, or in other words, death, by breaking a few tail lights that'd be just human.The driver also tried to be as evasive as he could, and so did his co-driver or other soldier by telling him on coming. I personally have no opinion on the US in Iraq as my knowledge is not enough to speak on, but I think its justified.
