That was painful to watch, i got second hand embarrassment. I think they've tried to copy the UK version too much, from the titles, to the set, to the stig and the presenters and the boards. It's just... cringe worthy. They aren't Hammond, May and Clarkson so someone should tell them to stop trying to imitate them. It would probably be better if it stopped trying to be the British and was just more... Australian? It would feel more natural and not so forced.

Agreed the show is nothing like the carbon copy franchises that put me off watching TV altogether, but the concept of taking a format that works and selling it internationally is the same. Top Gear UK is the original and the best, but I still watch AusTG because it does seem to be getting better. Granted there will only be 8 episodes per season - most likely because they will run out of topic matter after that. I'm just defensive because I like to see Australia taking the stage for once.

as the episodes go on its not that bad.yes they do have identical sets, gimmicks and the Stig,but they will settle into their own soon,top gear UK was not popular from the very beginning. In fact it took most of the 1st season to get it right.And remember that these guys have never been on tv before,same as jeremy etc in their budding top gear days,So lay off.If they went too far from the original top gear theme then it would definitely flop.they'll stick with what works and grow it from there
