  • Watched the full film, impressive stuff. Thanks for posting!

  • @DJGahann Thanks

  • So cool to have found this. I presented a film festival called Reel2Reel in Glasgow and this film won an award. I believe it was for best documentary. That may be wrong but i think best film was a film about a guy playing russian roulette with a gun. I was on the judging panel although not being an expert, just the presenter, my input was minimal but everyone was in love with this. Not one person on the panel disliked it.

  • Thanks for the comment. The whole film can be viewed from link at top right.

Yes, it did indeed win that award for best documentary and also best overall film. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for voting for it. Hanging with Frank has also been chosen by Channel 4 for their website as an example of good filmmaking.

  • @davidgrahamscott i thought a movie about a guy playing russian roulette with a six shooter won best overall. maybe that was best drama. i cant remember. You deserved it though.

  • Tears, vomit, excrement, rage, silence. All these things surround such a moment. The very moment which may have sparked this video's moment to begin with...the curse which haunts the bloodline...the end of a sadness...the beginning of new ones...the spreading of the disease of murder, lies, and human betrayals.

  • Dildo!

  • @gerrymoke Wanker.

  • I guess there will always be those that deserve it.....but, remember Timothy Evans and Dereck Bentley?, ;a life sentence can be reprieved when the system fucks it up. There can be no reprieve in an execution.

  • thats if he dosent grab that magnum off it and shove it up yer arse ya moron!

  • Heavy stuff...

    Mark...

  • creepy, I liked the grainy look, it adds to the effect. Great job.

  • good film thx

  • funny how covert and fast saddams execution was...wonder why he was silenced so quickly...hhmmm?

  • Amazing film a grandfather of mine was a an executioner but I was never allowed to ask him about it.

  • A great film. Wonder if the rumours about Barlinnie being torn down like it's former execution chamber will come true as well?

  • I do indeedy ;)

Welldone, I like the grainy, black and white, adds to macabre atmosphere. I also love the narrators voice too, very Sean Connery lol.

    Welldone.

    Warm regards,

    Maam Roug'e.

  • Oops not Sean Connery, more Robbie Coltrane lol :)

  • A very informative video thankyou.

  • Haha! Maamrouge checks my films out!

Did notice you like criminology. The whole film is available to watch in link above right. I made this film 10 years ago and it's been broadcast a couple of times. Tried to recreate an archive feel to the documentary by filming it grainy and in black & white.

  • Fascinating! I've just watched Pierrepoint and this has filled in the missing details of an execution left out in that film.

  • Cheers! Check full film at link above.

  • Excellent work, Mr. Scott. What an interesting man to talk to and take around his old stomping grounds while everything was still there. How odd though that they would keep the prisoners in that cell for the condemned for so many weeks prior to the execution. What was the point of that I wonder....

  • Well think how long they keep those guys on death row in America. Torture in itself Sabu. But at the same time it allowed for a man to make his peace with the world and obviously the judicial process had to play out. There's a link to the whole film in synopsis.

  • I don't know if you misunderstood what I meant or if I misunderstood what good ole Frank said. In Texas, for ex., death row inmates are not put in the final holding cell until a day or so prior to execution; before that they are housed in another unit with other DR prisoners. But in Glasgow they took the condemned out of their regular cell and put them in that special isolated cell closer to the execution chamber several weeks before execution?

  • That was the common procedure in the UK. If you watch the whole film you'll see there was a short walk across the gallery to the gallows. In some prisons the condemned cell had a hidden door behind a cupboard or suchlike and the prisoner was very quickly whisked to his death. Executioners timed themselves to see how quick they could be! It was considered humane.

  • very interesting.

  • Excellent!

  • that's interesting

  • I remember this documentry,it did deserve to win the best documentry at the real to real.
