Hey man, you can always fight back! cut the inner side of the frame out, clean all the rust flakes out that build up and soak up water, and weld some new plate steel on the beast :) thing'll last another 20 years :) Unfortunately we didn't do that kind of stuff back then
Right, well this took 24 years to rust in half, and that was from years of hauling mulch and shit that ate away at the paint, and destroyed the frame. It could have been cleaned up and painted, and saved. And the engine and trans would keep going forever...
This truck, started this guys landscaping company for him, and helped him have a successful life. He had it up in Alaska at some point, "sometimes at 6000 RPM's"
They're really awesome machines, they have their place, and your a racist.
@tommartyn no..i am not racist..i am american..and not some nieve kid..so this is 24 years old..no big deal..but toyota is known for rusty frames...its sad when a 6 year old toyota has to be taken off the road..or have a frame replaced cuzz of frame rot,,if you dont believe me..just utube toyota frame replacement..watch all the vids,,but yet american trucks dont seem to have this issuse so early in life..why is that ??..hell i have a 35 year old f150.and still see plenty of 70's ear fords around
I'm an american too, and saying "Jap" anything, is racist, thats kinda how that works.
The newer toyota frames shouldn't reflect the old ones. These Didn't rust out when they were 6 yrs old. The beds rusted away after about 15 years though.
The trucks are much smaller, and because of that the steel is much thinner, because there is less weight to deal with. So because of that, they rust out sooner then Full sized trucks. Also the steel might not be as resistant to rust.
@tommartyn ok..forget the newer trucks..look at the ones from the 80's..those things did not last long ..in about 5 years you would see them start to rust out over the rear wheels and were the box was seamed they started to rust,,it wasnt so much of thinner steel ..it was a bad design back then and single was construction that really made them rust..sorry..those 80 and early 90 toyota's were pretty bad for rust ..i cant even tell you the last time i seen a 80/90's toyota on the road
They're were alot more american trucks sold, so just because of that, you're alot more likely to see an american truck on the road then older toyota's. I do see late 80's and 90's toyotas around every now and again. I don't see older american trucks on the road that much either. But there are of course more of them around then toyotas. People were harder on toyota's too in my opinion, and used them for fun much more of the time then then american trucks that are still around.
@taitai907 oh hell yeah...i hate any and all imports actually...i have nothing to hide about that ...dont i have a right to an opinion??....the only thing i really liked from japan was the old pioneer home receiver model #sx 3900 ...ppl can hate domestic vehicles and thats fine..i just have no use or desire to ever own any import at all ..funny thing is..i do some work for toyota
Then that means you're biased. You're adamant in your opinion, which is fine. I'm adamant in mine. What I don't get is what you gain for trolling on Toyota videos. But let's get a few things straight, for every mechanical problem Toyota has, domestics have multitudes more. For every old domestic you say is still running, I own multitudes more old Toyotas running. For every person who says Toyotas don't last, there are millions more who say Toyotas do last.
@taitai907 yes..i am 100% biased..i am a diehard ford guy ..call me a troll , ..i am all over the internet and utube ....you only know of troubles on toyota's that slip threw the cracks..toyota hides alot of trouble from the general public ...its hard to sell me that toyota superiority crap when i drive a reliable 77 f150 to work everyday but see alot of newer yotas needing work ..all i own are fords..why dont i have these mythical , troublesome fords?
@390merc65 Well, at least you admit that you're not the most reliable piece of information. Better than a lot of other haters who think the Tundra is built in Japan or think that the majority of profits go back to Japan. But again, like everything else, for every website that makes complaints about Toyotas, there are multitudes more complaining about domestics.
@taitai907 information?...all i can do is tell you how it is...no car company is immune to any defects..that includes toyota ..the tundra is only assmbled in texas ...profit does go to japan ..why else would they open shop here?..to make money ...they take more money out of this country then they leave behind ,,funny though..no matter what you say about toyota having more of everything..yet i still see more older american iron on the road then imports..
Here's the thing about the Tundra, last I checked, at least 93% of the money invested in each Tundra stayed in the U.S. That's assuming 100% of the profits go to Japan. I never said Toyota was superior to domestics and I sure as hell didn't say they were immune to defects. I said they're generally more reliable. And, there's no substance to your claims that Toyota hides their problems. Don't assume that domestics don't hide their problems either.
@taitai907 no substance ?..i see by your comment you are not aware of the tbs sent out by toyota to its dealerships knowing about the acceleration problem ..why would they send out a tbs on this specific issue if they did not know anything about it in the first place?..i guess you are not aware of one of toyotas top lawyers quitting his job cuzz he was under pressure from toyota officials to lie and hide and destroy safety documents ..i'm sorry.thats just the way it is
Do you have proof that's why he quit? Nope. That's exactly what I mean. Most articles place Toyota and Honda as the most reliable vehicles. Now, you're gonna say that Toyota and Honda paid those writers off or those websites are biased (without proof). Whatever you say, it doesn't matter, you have no presentable proof for your claims. It wouldn't matter how wrong you are. Your problem is you refuse to be proven wrong and resort to personal experience which could be bullshit for all I know.
@taitai907 YOU are the one thats wrong...proof?..i guess you did not see all the new coverage about all of this ?..i am sorry .i dont work for dateline nbc ..or the cbs news..i am not walter cronkite either or clark kent but look around the net and read the dam proof yourself...before you claim i am wrong..YOU prove me wrong....were is your proof i am lying about any of this..i have come to realize ppl like you who warship tpypta must be part japanese and will defend them to death
@taitai907 you know ..you are sticking up for toyota thats fine..we question their reliability ..did you not look at the video we are on ?....you think i am making shit up ...if you feel i am lying about this stuff just utube [toyota frame replacement] ..then do the same for ford ...i dont think there is any video of a ford getting a frame replaced..thats got to show some credibility of what i am saying all along..you say toyota is so great..yet its [ONLY] toyota's have frame replacement ,,why?
@390merc65 Search up "Toyota Breaks Shaft," then search "Chevy Breaks Shaft", then search "Ford Breaks Shaft". Then tell me how many stock Toyotas break their shafts and how many Fords and Chevies Break their shafts. Yes, Toyotas do have frame problems. But they have a lot less engine and transmission problems than domestics. Power trains cost more to replace than a frame which rarely breaks in any case (although they do break more often than domestics).
@taitai907 you want proof..google something about toyota's lawyer quitting his job..i will bet you will find proof..i swear most toyota ppl are the same..they will argue and defend their toyota product as they drive off to the dealership for some kind of repair needed ..i wish i had a camera and the ability to down load clips , cuzz i would take it with me everytime i get called out to tow a toyota and video the dealership with repairs being made..
@taitai907 my own mother in law was a 100% loyal toyota buyer for 20 years untill her new at the time corolla had 3 tranny issues and after the 3rd time she had it with them and bought a fusion and loves it..not to mention the rav4 that loves to leak water in the rain and dash lights that will work when they feel like it..you can throw all the jd power and car and driver mags at me quoting they say imports are so good..sorry..i dont see it that way ,,sell that shit to ppl who have trouble
@390merc65 There you go again blasting the neutral articles that state that Toyota is reliable and presenting personal experiences that can't be presented. If it were the other way around and those articles were praising domestics, you wouldn't be so hostile towards them. For all I know, your claim about that Corolla and Rav4 could be complete bullshit. How do I know it's true? I can say the same thing about domestics. Would you believe me? I doubt it.
@taitai907 i said i told you my thoughts on the simple fact of my experience around them ..and i did say it was my opinion did i not??..and anything about that corolla and rav4 also is my experience ,,i did not know through all these years i should have documented all of my past experience's for proof in the future ..and my point is i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge ..just read the toyota you dont know ,,.the whole article
@390merc65 I did read it and it doesn't mention anything about Toyota's reliability. And just I like you, I can say "i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge". That doesn't prove anything. Sure you work at a junk yard. But you've never owned a Toyota.
@taitai907 let me guess?..you work for them?...look around and i am sure you will find articles on the lawyer of toyota ...what experiences do you have that the average joe does not?..and were did i mention i work in a junkyard?..speaking of junkyards though..i live close to worlds largest [ harry's u pull it] hazleton p.a and they have a huge selections of imports on hand ...i see you are poking fun at me though..good try
@390merc65 When I said "i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge" I was sarcastically quoting you. And again, I didn't deny that a lawyer did resign from Toyota; I questioned if you had proof that he quit because he was pressured to burn evidence. Any how do I know that you work at a junk yard in Pennsylvania? You told me. You didn't forget me already did you?
@taitai907 i have never said i work in a junkyard..i have no idea were you got that idea from ....utube toyota lawyer or goole it..i am sure it is here somewere...or go threw the pile of toyota acceleration video's on here and you will come across it ...
@taitai907 well..FINALLY you see i am not lying...all car makers are corrupt in some fashion..of coarse they are..but ....the domestics do not employ dirty work tactics like toyota ..they do not run its plants like a nazi prison camp like toyota...most ppl have absolutely nooooooooooooo idea what go's on at toyota in other country's...most ppl pass judgement on toyota only on their idea of what they see in america ..american toyota is the acception not the rule
@taitai907 why do i need to own a toyota ??..i have been around them for 30 years...i dont own Mcdonalds either , but i dont have to buy the whole dam restaurant to eat a big mac do i???...i have been in ..around ,, and worked on enuff of them ,,and i do not want a toyota ...EVER ...forget anything i said about toyota ..toyota makes real boring cars ...i would be happier in a 68 torino gt then a brand new Lexus with an unlimited lifetime warranty and free gas
@390merc65 Why do you need to own a Toyota? Because you're making baseless arguements. At least I owned Fords and Chevies before Toyotas and not just one or two; if you recall my family owned a lot.
@taitai907 i do not need to own a toyota to have experiences with them ..or make judgements either..this is not something i have never been around ....i dont need to drink poison to see if it kills me or makes me sick do i?...
@taitai907 why dont you utube [ toyota oil sludge ] and see how those ppl feel about toyota..and they are only a small portion of complaints on this subject ...utube blown head gaskets..no make or model or year just blown head gaskets and sit back and look at all the superior built hondas that have this trouble, yet the last time i looked you had to go to the 4th page untill you seen a ford with this issue ,,and that was a 68 galaxie..i thought hondas have god like build quality ????
@390merc65 I'm not a fan of Honda, so I really don't care. I can go on about how you can search up "crank shaft failure" or "transmission failure" or "piston failure" or "XXXXX failure" and see more domestics than Toyotas but it's getting repetitive. I'm just saying, you're simply going to find the least mechanical trouble on Toyotas. I dare you to take an '84 Ranger and compare it to an '84 Toyota pick-up. 9 times out of 10, you're gonna have more trouble with the Ranger.
@taitai907 you want proof of how great toyota is??...google [ THE TOYOTOA YOU DONT KNOW]..have yourself a good read about that ...maybe that will open your eyes ...talk to some ppl who actually had the acceleration issue and dam well know they did not hit the wrong pedal and see how insulted they get..i dont care what nasa found out..i dont buy it that nothing is wrong shit..yes some ppl did hop on the band wagon of that shit , but not all ,and toyota knew this for years like i said
@390merc65 Let's get one thing straight, I never denied that Toyota doesn't have any acceleration problems. I know they have those problems and I think they did do a pathetic job in the first place. If you look back on any of my comments, everything is referring to it's reliability, which your articles don't complain about. You're going off track.
@taitai907 oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....now that explains alot ..that changes everything..now i can see why you stand up for them ............read that article i mentioned and it might make you mad seeing how toyota of japan treats its chinese employ's ..and others around the world too...
@390merc65 What? I don't get it.... If you're referring to outsourcing, throw everything you have away. American companies (not car companies) outsource just about everything to China (something I'm staunchly against). The only reason domestic car companies don't is because of the overseas import tax. So instead they outsource to Mexico and Canada.
@taitai907 you are half way wrong..domestics do not get all parts just from mexico or canada ...i realize you cant talk on the phone or watch tv or listen to music without china in any shape or form ...i hate that too ..but sitting in the house without any of that sucks and whats left to do ?.watch a light bulb?..i much rather buy american but when it comes to electronics today you dont have a choice , but cars you do have a choice
@390merc65 Half of domestics are assembled in Mexico and Canada. If your going to say that most of the money goes to Japan for each Tundra, then does that mean that most of the money comes to the U.S. for each "domestic" vehicles built in Mexico or Canada? Not likely. Toyota doesn't outsource U.S.-sold vehicles. It's either built in the U.S. (employing U.S. citizens) or imported from Japan (paying an import tariff). Outsourced domestic vehicles are outsourced for the company to save money.
@taitai907 oh no..not another guy that thinks ford ran to mexico to save money and went there for no other reason..the answer to this is to long.but i will try..first off..ford has been in mexico for many many years..and in south america since at least the 1950's..and most of what is built there ,,stays there..example..did you eve hear of a lobo?.most ppl did not,,and for good reason..lobos are built and sold [ONLY] in mexico
@390merc65 Nope, Google Ford/Chevy/Dodge outsourced. Granted you may be partially right that some vehicles are sold in Mexico, how is that different from the Tundra which you assumed gave more money to Japan?
@taitai907 you are wrong cuzz parts do come from china and japan ..but f series sold in the us are all made in the us..the lobo and f series are just about the same..so of coarse fords will use the same wire harness as an example as the lobo cuzz it is made there and cheaper.so it makes good sense to do that ...when ppl look at wiki for answers they do not understand all they are reading ..ford made alot of vehicles in canada but most stayed there , but profit came here
@taitai907 and something ppl dont realize is..if a car is made in canada like my 90 merc marquis in ST thomas ..ford did that cuzz some plants are much easier to change a plant over from one vehicle to the next ..so ST THomas was the ideal place to change over to the panther chassis ..AKA crown vic grand marquis , lincoln ,all built with the same american parts as if it made in detroit...just that plant was an easy swap over in canada
@taitai907 and also ..alot of vehicles built in canada are not sold in the states..example..mercury trucks??..only built and sold only in canada ...pontiac beaumont ..ever hear of that ??..or see one??..probably not...certain trucks built in south american are alot different then in america and they stay there..ford made maverick station wagons in south america..not sold in the u.s ..south american dodge charger is totally different then the U,S model ,and the list go's on and on
So...do you have any proof contradicting what I said about the link? Or should I mention that your Merc probably caught fire because of a cruise control issue that has burned homes down resulting in a 10-year long recall? I acknowledge that Toyota has pedal issues. But you act like Toyotas the only one that has had recalls.
@taitai907 i am aware of some stupid things done by ford..i admit that too..i have never tried to hide any of that either....you just made a good point..see?..ppl hear things and automatically think every and all fords are condemned to fire..yes they had that trouble but not all of them ..my merc never cought fire ..except for the vinyl roof at the time for the garage fire ...and no ..ford actually had more recalls then most of them ..and alot of that was due to the head of ford at the time
@taitai907 if that much is left behind in the US then that is probably toyotas cost to manufacture the tundra here,,,i mean does it make sense to invest so much in manufacturing and everything else included and do all of this and not take money home?..no of coarse not ..if they took home less money then they put in, then they would, not be profitable..right?..there fore they would operate in the hole and it would coast money to be here instead of making profit
@taitai907 lets say if ford was in japan making the f150 for japan sales.,and assume they were profitable..dont you think after all the coast and over head was paid that anything left over will come back to the US??..of coarse..a ford can be sold anywere in the world , but the profit comes back to our soil...dont you think toyotas sold in canada or any country , that any money left over as profit doesnt not go back to japan???..of coarse it does
@taitai907 if toyota is so great then why can i find web sites dedicated to nothing but complaints about toyotas and how toyota wont stand behind their vehicles ..and yes i know all about the domestics having web site like that too , but thats not the point..there is alot more to toyota you dont know..funny how one of the biggest web sites filled with complaints about toyota's were removed from the internet ..i wonder who did that ?????
@taitai907 if toyota is so great then why can i find web sites dedicated to nothing but complaints about toyotas and how toyota wont stand behind their vehicles ..and yes i know all about the domestics having web site like that too , but thats not the point..there is alot more to toyota you dont know..funny how one of the biggest web sites filled with complaints about toyota's were removed from the internet ..i wonder who did that ?????
@taitai907 i HIGHLY dought you have a fleet of older toyotas still running..if thats the case then tell me why you NEVER see one toyota going across the block at any car auction..when was the last time you seen a older import on barret jackson?..i still see alot of 70's era ford trucks still working..yet..i cant seem to find one toyota from the 70's anywere..to tell you the truth ,,i dont even know what the hell a 70's era toyota even looks like...i cant remember the last time i seen a t 100
@390merc65 I already told you why you don't see a lot of '70s Toyotas around and I told you that I don't own all those Toyotas, my entire family does. Most Toyotas aren't the type to go on auction but there are some such as the 2000GT that have been auctioned for as high as $375,000. Given how you've never owned a Toyota and detest imports, your words are very narrow-minded. I'd complain, but you admit it. Anyways, are we gonna make up half the comments on a video again?
@taitai907 no dude..you think i am narrow minded?..nope..i will give you a quick reason why i hate imports...there was a time long ago i was young and impressionable about toyota's..or any imports..a friend had 2 toyota;s back in the mid 80's ..it was funny cuzz i woukd have to take him to the dealership to get parts for his [ so called ] reliable toyota's as i drove him in my 69 monterey ..my car was much older then both his toyotas together..yet it was the toyotas always needing repairs
@taitai907 after working on toyotas i also did more then my fair share of repairs on subaru's back then too ..its sad when a subi that was only 4 years old with just 118 k on it was so tired, smoky, and worn out needed an engine rebuild..yet my 16 year old merc marched on ..so its not that i am narrow minded..its more of personal experience that dictated my thinking ..i hate to say it but even i once thought about getting a subi 4wd wagon , but i rather a amc eagle 4wd wagon instead
@taitai907 sorry..its just hard to sell me the idea that imports are superior when i see my neighbor who owned a accord and it only went 135k and it was going on its second tranny..he bought it new..and laffs at me when i drive by in my 21 year old merc with over 300k and survived a garage fire and it still runs fine on all of its original untouched drive train ..or my niece's 5 year old vw that is a nightmare of trouble..and thats when its stays running
@taitai907 the thing about yota is they are a master of hiding problems with using the excuse of a scheduled oil change or other maintenance and as the vehicle is in the shop they preform other fix's not known to the customer , so thats one reason why yota does not have so many recalls..you can believe it or not..thats the truth just like unintended acceleration...toyota know all about that back in 2003 but in court denied any knowledge of this issue and destroyed documents supporting this
I'm just going to say one last thing, I'm too busy to argue. Let me just point out that, you have no presentable evidence to most of your claims. For every article that says something good about Toyota, you claim something to the effect of "Toyota paid them to say it." Basically, that's all I can present without videotaping all my Toyotas. But if you were to try to present articles of how Toyotas are unreliable, you'd be outgunned. Anyways, why don't you post a video of your '77 Ford?
@taitai907 were did i say toyota paid someone to say something??....you said i was narrow minded..and i said no and gave you my own personal experiences that changed my judgement over the years on imports..alot of imports are reliable and go the distance, but domestics do as well ..in fact you can cruise utube and find a few vids of american vehicles going up to a million miles or more,,but [ONLY] one vid of a toyota in some other country ..why is that ????
@390merc65 Oh, and...no. On Youtube, just like everything else, for every video you see of a Toyota screwing up, you see multitudes more domestics screwing up. But according to you, every video that says that Toyota IS reliable can't be true. As for proof, just Google "Most Reliable Vehicles". That will handle itself.
@390merc65 I already told you why you don't see a lot of '70s Toyotas around and I told you that I don't own all those Toyotas, my entire family does. I've had people leave comments about american trucks that did the same thing. One guy actually told me about how they used to have a ford at their farm that did this, and they put a caster wheel on it, and suggested i do that.
Toyota's were really important for alot of people. They went for many hundreds of thousands of miles, were incredibly reliable, and used a tiny amount of fuel compared to full sized trucks. MANY people without much money needed trucks just like these.
@tommartyn i am sure there are american trucks that have frame issue's..but for a 6 year old toyota to either be taken off the road or have a frame replaced is just bad..no excuse for that at all...and there are alot of american trucks that go hundreds of thousands of miles also,,hell i am driving one ..for not much more money you could buy a full size truck that will do twice the work as a toyota back then ,,my buddy had a86 yota years ago..it was nothing but expensive trouble to fix
Right, I'm not talking about a tacoma, I'm talking about toyota pickups. That was the official name for these, in other countrys they were called Hilux's. These older toyota's were incredible machines. They weren't trouble, or expensive to fix. They're easy to fix, and cheap to work on as well. For not much more money, you could buy a full sized truck back then, and spend twice as much in fuel. And many people couldn't afford that back then, and didn't need the extra bed size.
@tommartyn isnt a tacoma a toyota truck??.i disagree that they were cheap to fix ...i have been around imports since the early 80's and remember my buddys car,,i think it was a tercel or some sport model toyota..it had the 22r motor..well it was just ironic that he needed a vacuum advance for his car and i did to for my [ at the time 17 year old] 69 mercury ,,my part was on the shelf for 7 bucks and hos had to be ordered for 49 bucks..
@tommartyn i know these trucks are not all that great on fuel..about 8 years ago someone i know bought a [ at the time ]a new trd 4cyl.,,,they were very disapointed on millage ..and yes not everyone needs a full size truck,,but you do buy a truck to work ..and by twice the work i mean .living the the coal region of P,A if you need to get a ton of coal .those small yota;s wont do it..so you need to make 2 trips .of coarse that is just one example
Damn right man, did you see the compilation video of this beast? I'll send it to you. It goes from when i got it till after it finally rusted in half. Awesome machine.
yeah dude, seriously. people who sell stuff on craigs list have no problem making a complete piece of shit seem like there is bassically nothing wrong with it. I looked at a 400 dollar three wheeler yesterday that, to start with, needed a new frame. Engine and clutch needed to be rebuilt, (ran and drove, but smoked, and the clutch was all the way adjusted) front fork tubes spun backwards, all bearings shot. no brakes, ect ect.
haha, you know what man, it probaly would. all the return lines, and vapor line that went to the tank and all were still there, the cat was still connected, and its a toyota, so it probably all still worked pretty good. Thats pretty funny, never thought about that before. and its an 81, so anything 83 and older is visual inspection only now :) so it would definitely pass :)
Checked out your channel. You guys have a lot of fun. Wish I still had my own big F-ing playground. I used to live on a big ranch in the mountains with a gravel quarry, and a couple of big mud pits. I had a blast, and made a couple of my friends puke with my driving... AHH, good times. Sure do miss having that kind of stress relief!
Thanks man! Yeah, we're pretty lucky to have all this land to fool around on. I've got some friends that live about 45 minutes away, down closer to the city, and there is tons of traffic, can't get anywhere when you drive there's so many cars, and its just a shitty place, strip mall after strip mall. So they come up here to get away from it all pretty much every weekend, we just beat the shit out of stuff and have a good time.
The big ranch in the mountains had to be an awesome place.
@tommartyn Man I miss my big playground in the mountains. Now I live in the inner city, and the only place I can goof around is the parking lot for my apartment (and there are security cameras, and not much fun to be had anyway). I put new 35"s on my old Ford, but the only time I get to put them to good use so far this winter is when I pull people's cars (and a few trucks) out of this GIANT POTHOLE that forms when the temp stays below freezing for a few days.
Yeah, thats a a shame man... Is there any out of city areas near by that you can go to wheel your beast? If you lived anywhere near here, you could come over and romp some shit up with us.
Great way to blow off some of the stress of city life man.
@tommartyn Yeah, there are lots of places, the mountains are only about 20 miles away, but this time of year, most of the places to play are buried under ice for a couple more months. I guess I will just have to have twice as much fun this summer to make up for a sort of boring winter. Some friends and I still go prospecting once in a while in the winter, but most of the good places won't be accessible 'till spring. What part of the country are you guys in?
We're in eastern PA, so all the snow is pretty much gone now. We found a few patches deep in the woods on saturday but thats about it. Hope you get alot of time this year for some serious romping man!
american trucks may have gotten materials and supervisors to jobsites to build america, but how much of the heavy equipment is american? and how many of the workers for that matter are american? look up "top gear killing a toyota". as far as breaking frames, its all maintenance. my 84's box frame doesnt have a lick of rust on it.
@5438380 I saw the "Top Gear" multi-part episode that you speak of, it's a joke. I could have broken that piece of shit in half without trying. And nearly all of the heavy equipment was American until fairly recently. Japanese manufacturers are subsidized by the Japanese government which is a huge advantage when it comes to being able to export vehicles all over the world. But in the U.S., people cry and throw a fit when the auto makers BORROW money. It's not like our taxes are supporting them.
Gee, American trucks built the country (highways, hospitals, schools, homes, etc.,etc.) that you see all around you in the western hemisphere (that would include the U.S. for you ignorant peeps). How many of them break in half? I have been in construction for over 20 years building everything you fools use every day, and have never seen a REAL truck break in half. Sure maybe a Toy can do the petty little things that you do, but Toyotas didn't build the world that you Americans see around you.
First off, what the FUCK is your problem? I'm not saying american trucks were total shit. Every type of vehicle has a place, Larger heavier trucks are needed for the bigger jobs you mention. But smaller, more fuel efficent, reliable, high mileage vehicles like these toyota pickups were needed by many people with smaller jobs as well. Petty? You call starting a successful landscaping buisness with a toyota petty? Because thats what the original owner of this one did. It built his buisness.
@tommartyn I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry. I agree with you for the most part about how smaller pickups have their place too, but nobody I have known has gotten high mileage out of their Toyota trucks. One thing I don't like about them is that they have such a small bed and light suspension that it takes more time and several trips to move materials. My main point with this video is that people keep saying that a pickup that breaks in half is tough- that is a contradiction.
every toyota owner i know has gotten high miles out of them. Especially people who drive them hard. They have their place, but we've hauled a crazy amount of weight with ours many times. The 4x4's have much stiffer suspension. The 4x2's are more car like.
Any and all trucks can break in half, and will given enough time, and lack of care.
A few people have commented about their fords, or other american trucks doing the same thing after seeing the video.
@furiousgeorge1271 HAHAHAH, my 91 Toyota truck has 185,000 miles on it and I redline it EVERY weekend. It still gets its original sticker mpg.
My dads 99 (8 years newer for those mathematically challenged) Chevy 2500 threw a rod revving at 5000 rpm, cause it down shifted to 3rd while towing a 23 foot Jay-co aluminum trailer. BTW, it had 70,000 miles on it at the time.
@zakattack467 My 81 Ford truck has around 600,000 miles on it, and still going strong. It has never been kept in a garage, and the frame is still rock solid. I have used it for concrete work and ranch work for years, and I still go four wheeling all over the Rocky Mountains with it. My friend's 98 Toyota Tacoma has more rust than my truck has, and his has spent a lot of time in the shop even though he never hauls anything, or does much off roading.
@elgandos2 What is midol? Must be a Toyota fag thing. I'm sorry if your pussy hurts when people say bad things about Toyota, but sometimes the real world can be harsh. Maybe you should stay in mommy's basement playing video games and doing bong hits where you can feel safe talking shit to strangers on the internet. The real world eats up little pussies like you and their Jap-shit Toyotas.
Alright dude, Racist, and anti-gay shit goes right out the fucking window, Get the fuck out of here, and don't watch any more of my videos. I don't want that kind of shit around here.
@tommartyn Now that you have no valid point, you resort to name calling like your boy zakattack.Like him,you can't back up your silly views.Sorry if I hurt your feelings,if you guys are gay, that's your business,I don't want to know, and don't care.Just like homos you make no sense; to call a truck tough when it breaks in half. That was all that I said originally, and your little toyota club resort to insulting me,instead of intelligently backing up claims that a "truck" that breaks in half is tough.
EXCUSE ME???? Name calling??? What the fuck are you talking about??? "dude" that was all i called you!!!! What the fuck is your problem????
I had a valid point the entire time, That toyotas are very durable, low maintenance, high MPG light trucks, that have made many peoples lives better. That points still stands, and i have a serious problem with racism, and people who put down gay people. Gay people make as much sense as straight people, and its fucked up to act like its different.
you know, seriously, all the fucking childish bullshit you just wrote, then say i have a problem "intelligently" backing up my claims. They aren't Just MY claims, Toyota is long famous for durability, and being tough. Many trucks, american and otherwise rust in half. Toyotas have thinner metal, being as they are Smaller Lighter duty trucks, so they rust in half before larger american trucks. It only takes about 2 seconds of light thought to understand that.
And you say your ford has 600,000 miles on it. If you were a decent person i'd met or talked to in some good honest way, i'd believe you, But you come on my video, and start insulting toyota in retarded close minded bullshit ways, because you're pissed off that American work is getting shipped over to other countrys, so you find it necessary to take it out on an automaker that is known for high quality, especially during the 80's all american companies were starting to turn out some real shit.
If your ford does have 600,000 miles on it, what number engine is it on? 4? how many transmissions have you gone through? How many axles? how many times have you replaced some of the most crucial mechanical parts of the truck? If you're going to have claims, how about backing them the fuck up? You're the one who came here and started all this shit. If you want to know how toyota's are, talk to people who've owned them (late 90's and up aren't so good)
@tommartyn You are hilarious, I am having difficulty not laughing at your silly anger while I type! You really blew a fuse, and you responded to messages that I sent to others. Apparently, these aren't friends, they are aliases. THATS EVEN FUNNIER! Yes my truck has over 600K. on it, and NO, I have never replaced the engine, tranny, axels, or anything major. I have replaced brake rotors and pads, battery, starter, (radiator was my fault for jumping my truck in a gravel quarry), thermostat, etc.
Why hold it back? You feel like laughing, fucking do it.
Yeah i blew a fucking fuse, you're an irrational asshole. You act like you want this to be an honest thing debate about the durability of toyota pickup trucks, then you spout a whole bunch of small minded jabs at me, and make up some bullshit. So i'm only allowed to respond to comments you wrote to me on youtube??
Those people aren't friends or aliases, You're coming up with ridiculous shit for unknown reasons.
You're truck might have over 600k on it with no major work (especailly if its the inline 300), but i'm not very damn likely to believe a son of a bitch that comes on here and insults the living shit out of things that don't deserve it. You haven't been honest in this debate, and have a chip on your shoulder against foreign companies to begin with. Thats something you need to work past before you get into these kinds of discussions. use some reason, how can only american stuff be good?
Respond to this video...Son of a bitch? You don't want to insult my mother, she also has worked hard all her life, and if somehow she couldn't knock your ass out, I would. I'm not trying to be insulting, for a minute we had a civil conversation, just don't insult my mother. Call me what ever you want. As I tried posting before, I never said that all toyotas were crap, I had fun with some 70s Land Cruisers. The bodies rusted a lot, but frame, engine, were good, and suspension was tough.
I'm sorry about the SOB thing, i honestly didn't mean the literal sense of that at all. After i wrote it i saw that, and should have deleted that, because i don't mean that. My mom truly is a horrible bitch of a person, but Seriously, in no way to i think anything bad of your mother man. I'm sure she is an awesome person, and has worked her but off. And im not saying this because of fear, i feel like shit about it coming out like that. I don't have a youtube account to fight with people.
@tommartyn I realize now that you didn't mean it literally. She really is a tough old lady, when I was 15, I called her a bitch, and she knocked my punk ass down with one punch (I totally deserved it). My dad beat the shit out of me all of the time, but he never knocked me down with one punch LOL! By the way, apology accepted, and I apologize as well, I can become a little too defensive sometimes.
Seriously man, i'm sorry this has all broken down into a stupid argument. I got pretty pissed, and i take account for my reaction. Sorry.
I've never got the chance to check out a land crusier. Are those the toyota jeeps? or are they the bigger jeep wagoneer style trucks? From what ive read they had inline 6's in them too.
Me and my friend drew were trying to buy a high mileage econoline with the 4.9 in it. Ran perfect of course :) Near 300K
@tommartyn Yes the Land Cruisers were old Toyota Jeep-like things, and they were pretty good off road. The ones that I am familiar with (mid 70s) had inline 6 cylinders (I think they were 260 cid), and had a solid c- channel frame, and a solid suspension. They did have body rust problems, though, and some of the parts were really expensive to replace. There were also bigger Land Cruisers that were sort of like a Jeep Comanche, or something, but I haven't used any of them before.
Yeah, again, sorry for all of that. I'd much rather learn from our conversations then fight as well.
The one thing i like about older 4x4 toyota pickups, and i'm guessing the land cruisers were like this too, was Kingpin (some one told me they're called) front axles, with the constant velocity joints in there, instead of U-joints. Because u-joints make the tire bounce around when you're spinning the tires with the wheel cut all the way. Their like my 46 Willys CJ-2A.
@tommartyn For the record, I don't hate you, man.I apologize for giving you shit when you lost your temper. I have blown a fuse before myself, and it brings out the worst in me. If we put the insults aside, we can both learn from our conversations instead of bitching at each other. By the way, I am not a racist, I believe that we are all members of the same race; the human race (regardless of ethnicity, gender, or otherwise). I have my own beliefs, which may differ from mainstream, but so be it.
@tommartyn Continued... Now at least you admit the 90s and up aren't good, but the 80s were nothing special either, but I admit most American cars from 80s and early 90s sucked, so did Toyota. I had friends with 80s toy pickups with the big lift kit, and big tires and look all cool, but they couldn't do much of anything with them, and one of them almost completely crapped out when we were on a camping trip. The only toys I liked at all were old Landcruisers, and they had rust problems.
I understand how and why you don't think that this video shows how tough a toyota is. completely get your stupid fucking point. if somethings strong, it shouldn't break in half. Its a very simple minded opinion, but its yours and you're free to have it. many people would disagree, and have, and i understand that as well.
But completely aside from this video, toyotas are tough as shit. They can't compare to load hauling as the big american trucks, but THEY DON'T HAVE TO. they're not for that
But now i actually am going to say 1 of the things that Toyotas are ABSOLUTELY better at then american trucks. And i wasn't saying anything like this before, But you're going to bitch like i am, so here you go.
ANY stock 1979-1984 (probably even -1987 right beforethey went to independant front suspension) toyota 4x4 pickup truck with stock tires. Can out Off Road, in pretty much ANY circumstance,
And i just checked the comments, that zackattack dude didn't do anykind of name calling either!!!! all he said was his toyota takes a shitload of beatings, and a newer american truck threw a rod!!!! You are a fucking asshole. That isn't even name calling, its a fact, you are seriously an asshole! You're not even paying attention, saying a whole bunch of bullshit, just to be a dick. And on top of it you're racist, and a gay basher... What a piece of work.
@furiousgeorge1271 whoa dude, i never said im backing toyota. haha i gotta love my fords, sure i like toyotas, but no little rice-burner pickup will ever compare to a ford or chevy in my opinion. but that doesnt make them a p.o.s. truck, either. Considering most racing trucks are toyota, their better for speed and acceleration, not for handling insane amounts of horsepower or torque. So I think you should chill, as I said before, and stop being giving americans a bad name with your stupid antics
@elgandos2 I think that you should chill as well, and quit insulting people just because you disagree with them. You have insulted me twice instead of coming up with an intelligent response. I guess you just didn't have one, so you had to resort to insults. I only stated originally that I don't think that a truck that breaks in half is tough, and you responded by insulting me. If you disagree with me, thats fine, but try explaining why in stead of just name calling. Grow up.
@furiousgeorge1271 yes, my first response was an insult but a joke... i was just in a hyper mood and felt like being a lil shit lol. And I just told you in my last comment that I absolutely dont disagree with you. I said I will always love my fords and chevies and nothing will change that, so in reality, i didnt resort to insults. And as you can see, ive already explained everything I needed to for us to be on the same page here...
@elgandos2 No harm done, man, I can get a little defensive sometimes. If it was one of my friends saying it, I would know that they are joking (and maybe smack 'em upside the head), but through a computer screen I can't see if you're smiling, or giving me the evil eye.
@furiousgeorge1271 If you Ford has 600,000 miles on it you will post a video, if not your just a ignorant prick giving all Americans a bad name. So post a video or FUCK OFF. Second, the Japanese don't care who's truck built the space needle. As far as the eastern hemisphere is concerned we can keep on sending them our blue plans for car parts AND THEY WILL KEEP ON BUILDING THEM. Sure, you worked your ass off with a hard hat, beating your body up, living the American dream.
Have you ever beaten the shit out of one? Do you know anything about these beasts? Obviously not or you would know the reason's why they are tough. If a frame rusting in half makes a truck not tough, then no trucks ever made are tough, because they all have steel frames, and will all rust in half if not taken care of. This was used by a landscaper for years to haul mulch and other corrosive stuff around, it ate the paint off the frame, and it rusted away. We beat the balls off this thing.
Toyota forever!

Hey man, you can always fight back! cut the inner side of the frame out, clean all the rust flakes out that build up and soak up water, and weld some new plate steel on the beast :) thing'll last another 20 years :) Unfortunately we didn't do that kind of stuff back then

looks like my neighbors 05 tacoma...this is why i will never buy a jap truck
390merc65 6 months ago
Right, well this took 24 years to rust in half, and that was from years of hauling mulch and shit that ate away at the paint, and destroyed the frame. It could have been cleaned up and painted, and saved. And the engine and trans would keep going forever...
This truck, started this guys landscaping company for him, and helped him have a successful life. He had it up in Alaska at some point, "sometimes at 6000 RPM's"
They're really awesome machines, they have their place, and your a racist.
tommartyn 6 months ago
@tommartyn no..i am not racist..i am american..and not some nieve kid..so this is 24 years old..no big deal..but toyota is known for rusty frames...its sad when a 6 year old toyota has to be taken off the road..or have a frame replaced cuzz of frame rot,,if you dont believe me..just utube toyota frame replacement..watch all the vids,,but yet american trucks dont seem to have this issuse so early in life..why is that ??..hell i have a 35 year old f150.and still see plenty of 70's ear fords around
390merc65 6 months ago
I'm an american too, and saying "Jap" anything, is racist, thats kinda how that works.
The newer toyota frames shouldn't reflect the old ones. These Didn't rust out when they were 6 yrs old. The beds rusted away after about 15 years though.
The trucks are much smaller, and because of that the steel is much thinner, because there is less weight to deal with. So because of that, they rust out sooner then Full sized trucks. Also the steel might not be as resistant to rust.
tommartyn 6 months ago
@tommartyn ok..forget the newer trucks..look at the ones from the 80's..those things did not last long ..in about 5 years you would see them start to rust out over the rear wheels and were the box was seamed they started to rust,,it wasnt so much of thinner steel ..it was a bad design back then and single was construction that really made them rust..sorry..those 80 and early 90 toyota's were pretty bad for rust ..i cant even tell you the last time i seen a 80/90's toyota on the road
390merc65 6 months ago
@390merc65
They're were alot more american trucks sold, so just because of that, you're alot more likely to see an american truck on the road then older toyota's. I do see late 80's and 90's toyotas around every now and again. I don't see older american trucks on the road that much either. But there are of course more of them around then toyotas. People were harder on toyota's too in my opinion, and used them for fun much more of the time then then american trucks that are still around.
tommartyn 6 months ago
@tommartyn i guess you can never compare domestics to imports..there has always been more domestics sold then imports....even today ...
390merc65 6 months ago
@390merc65 Every time I see your comments, you seem to be blasting on Toyota. Do you have some beef with them? Because it looks like you do...
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 oh hell yeah...i hate any and all imports actually...i have nothing to hide about that ...dont i have a right to an opinion??....the only thing i really liked from japan was the old pioneer home receiver model #sx 3900 ...ppl can hate domestic vehicles and thats fine..i just have no use or desire to ever own any import at all ..funny thing is..i do some work for toyota
390merc65 5 months ago
Then that means you're biased. You're adamant in your opinion, which is fine. I'm adamant in mine. What I don't get is what you gain for trolling on Toyota videos. But let's get a few things straight, for every mechanical problem Toyota has, domestics have multitudes more. For every old domestic you say is still running, I own multitudes more old Toyotas running. For every person who says Toyotas don't last, there are millions more who say Toyotas do last.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 yes..i am 100% biased..i am a diehard ford guy ..call me a troll , ..i am all over the internet and utube ....you only know of troubles on toyota's that slip threw the cracks..toyota hides alot of trouble from the general public ...its hard to sell me that toyota superiority crap when i drive a reliable 77 f150 to work everyday but see alot of newer yotas needing work ..all i own are fords..why dont i have these mythical , troublesome fords?
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Well, at least you admit that you're not the most reliable piece of information. Better than a lot of other haters who think the Tundra is built in Japan or think that the majority of profits go back to Japan. But again, like everything else, for every website that makes complaints about Toyotas, there are multitudes more complaining about domestics.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 information?...all i can do is tell you how it is...no car company is immune to any defects..that includes toyota ..the tundra is only assmbled in texas ...profit does go to japan ..why else would they open shop here?..to make money ...they take more money out of this country then they leave behind ,,funny though..no matter what you say about toyota having more of everything..yet i still see more older american iron on the road then imports..
390merc65 5 months ago
Here's the thing about the Tundra, last I checked, at least 93% of the money invested in each Tundra stayed in the U.S. That's assuming 100% of the profits go to Japan. I never said Toyota was superior to domestics and I sure as hell didn't say they were immune to defects. I said they're generally more reliable. And, there's no substance to your claims that Toyota hides their problems. Don't assume that domestics don't hide their problems either.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 no substance ?..i see by your comment you are not aware of the tbs sent out by toyota to its dealerships knowing about the acceleration problem ..why would they send out a tbs on this specific issue if they did not know anything about it in the first place?..i guess you are not aware of one of toyotas top lawyers quitting his job cuzz he was under pressure from toyota officials to lie and hide and destroy safety documents ..i'm sorry.thats just the way it is
390merc65 5 months ago
Do you have proof that's why he quit? Nope. That's exactly what I mean. Most articles place Toyota and Honda as the most reliable vehicles. Now, you're gonna say that Toyota and Honda paid those writers off or those websites are biased (without proof). Whatever you say, it doesn't matter, you have no presentable proof for your claims. It wouldn't matter how wrong you are. Your problem is you refuse to be proven wrong and resort to personal experience which could be bullshit for all I know.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 YOU are the one thats wrong...proof?..i guess you did not see all the new coverage about all of this ?..i am sorry .i dont work for dateline nbc ..or the cbs news..i am not walter cronkite either or clark kent but look around the net and read the dam proof yourself...before you claim i am wrong..YOU prove me wrong....were is your proof i am lying about any of this..i have come to realize ppl like you who warship tpypta must be part japanese and will defend them to death
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 you know ..you are sticking up for toyota thats fine..we question their reliability ..did you not look at the video we are on ?....you think i am making shit up ...if you feel i am lying about this stuff just utube [toyota frame replacement] ..then do the same for ford ...i dont think there is any video of a ford getting a frame replaced..thats got to show some credibility of what i am saying all along..you say toyota is so great..yet its [ONLY] toyota's have frame replacement ,,why?
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Search up "Toyota Breaks Shaft," then search "Chevy Breaks Shaft", then search "Ford Breaks Shaft". Then tell me how many stock Toyotas break their shafts and how many Fords and Chevies Break their shafts. Yes, Toyotas do have frame problems. But they have a lot less engine and transmission problems than domestics. Power trains cost more to replace than a frame which rarely breaks in any case (although they do break more often than domestics).
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 you want proof..google something about toyota's lawyer quitting his job..i will bet you will find proof..i swear most toyota ppl are the same..they will argue and defend their toyota product as they drive off to the dealership for some kind of repair needed ..i wish i had a camera and the ability to down load clips , cuzz i would take it with me everytime i get called out to tow a toyota and video the dealership with repairs being made..
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 I didn't say the lawyer didn't quit, I asked if you have proof that he quit because of the pressure of a cover up.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 my own mother in law was a 100% loyal toyota buyer for 20 years untill her new at the time corolla had 3 tranny issues and after the 3rd time she had it with them and bought a fusion and loves it..not to mention the rav4 that loves to leak water in the rain and dash lights that will work when they feel like it..you can throw all the jd power and car and driver mags at me quoting they say imports are so good..sorry..i dont see it that way ,,sell that shit to ppl who have trouble
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 There you go again blasting the neutral articles that state that Toyota is reliable and presenting personal experiences that can't be presented. If it were the other way around and those articles were praising domestics, you wouldn't be so hostile towards them. For all I know, your claim about that Corolla and Rav4 could be complete bullshit. How do I know it's true? I can say the same thing about domestics. Would you believe me? I doubt it.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 i said i told you my thoughts on the simple fact of my experience around them ..and i did say it was my opinion did i not??..and anything about that corolla and rav4 also is my experience ,,i did not know through all these years i should have documented all of my past experience's for proof in the future ..and my point is i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge ..just read the toyota you dont know ,,.the whole article
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 I did read it and it doesn't mention anything about Toyota's reliability. And just I like you, I can say "i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge". That doesn't prove anything. Sure you work at a junk yard. But you've never owned a Toyota.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 let me guess?..you work for them?...look around and i am sure you will find articles on the lawyer of toyota ...what experiences do you have that the average joe does not?..and were did i mention i work in a junkyard?..speaking of junkyards though..i live close to worlds largest [ harry's u pull it] hazleton p.a and they have a huge selections of imports on hand ...i see you are poking fun at me though..good try
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 When I said "i see more then the average american does not..so i feel that gives me a bit more of an edge" I was sarcastically quoting you. And again, I didn't deny that a lawyer did resign from Toyota; I questioned if you had proof that he quit because he was pressured to burn evidence. Any how do I know that you work at a junk yard in Pennsylvania? You told me. You didn't forget me already did you?
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 i have never said i work in a junkyard..i have no idea were you got that idea from ....utube toyota lawyer or goole it..i am sure it is here somewere...or go threw the pile of toyota acceleration video's on here and you will come across it ...
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 OK, you're right about the lawyer. But don't deny that domestics have some things just as bad or even worse..
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 well..FINALLY you see i am not lying...all car makers are corrupt in some fashion..of coarse they are..but ....the domestics do not employ dirty work tactics like toyota ..they do not run its plants like a nazi prison camp like toyota...most ppl have absolutely nooooooooooooo idea what go's on at toyota in other country's...most ppl pass judgement on toyota only on their idea of what they see in america ..american toyota is the acception not the rule
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Are you sure about that? You think the Mexicans get decent pay? Whatever the case, these tactics make Toyota vehicles very reliable.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 why do i need to own a toyota ??..i have been around them for 30 years...i dont own Mcdonalds either , but i dont have to buy the whole dam restaurant to eat a big mac do i???...i have been in ..around ,, and worked on enuff of them ,,and i do not want a toyota ...EVER ...forget anything i said about toyota ..toyota makes real boring cars ...i would be happier in a 68 torino gt then a brand new Lexus with an unlimited lifetime warranty and free gas
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Why do you need to own a Toyota? Because you're making baseless arguements. At least I owned Fords and Chevies before Toyotas and not just one or two; if you recall my family owned a lot.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 i do not need to own a toyota to have experiences with them ..or make judgements either..this is not something i have never been around ....i dont need to drink poison to see if it kills me or makes me sick do i?...
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 why dont you utube [ toyota oil sludge ] and see how those ppl feel about toyota..and they are only a small portion of complaints on this subject ...utube blown head gaskets..no make or model or year just blown head gaskets and sit back and look at all the superior built hondas that have this trouble, yet the last time i looked you had to go to the 4th page untill you seen a ford with this issue ,,and that was a 68 galaxie..i thought hondas have god like build quality ????
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 I'm not a fan of Honda, so I really don't care. I can go on about how you can search up "crank shaft failure" or "transmission failure" or "piston failure" or "XXXXX failure" and see more domestics than Toyotas but it's getting repetitive. I'm just saying, you're simply going to find the least mechanical trouble on Toyotas. I dare you to take an '84 Ranger and compare it to an '84 Toyota pick-up. 9 times out of 10, you're gonna have more trouble with the Ranger.
taitai907 5 months ago

You're going off track.
taitai907 5 months ago
@390merc65 Oh, and I'm Chinese-Burmese so I know all about this.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....now that explains alot ..that changes everything..now i can see why you stand up for them ............read that article i mentioned and it might make you mad seeing how toyota of japan treats its chinese employ's ..and others around the world too...
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 What? I don't get it.... If you're referring to outsourcing, throw everything you have away. American companies (not car companies) outsource just about everything to China (something I'm staunchly against). The only reason domestic car companies don't is because of the overseas import tax. So instead they outsource to Mexico and Canada.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 you are half way wrong..domestics do not get all parts just from mexico or canada ...i realize you cant talk on the phone or watch tv or listen to music without china in any shape or form ...i hate that too ..but sitting in the house without any of that sucks and whats left to do ?.watch a light bulb?..i much rather buy american but when it comes to electronics today you dont have a choice , but cars you do have a choice
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Half of domestics are assembled in Mexico and Canada. If your going to say that most of the money goes to Japan for each Tundra, then does that mean that most of the money comes to the U.S. for each "domestic" vehicles built in Mexico or Canada? Not likely. Toyota doesn't outsource U.S.-sold vehicles. It's either built in the U.S. (employing U.S. citizens) or imported from Japan (paying an import tariff). Outsourced domestic vehicles are outsourced for the company to save money.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 oh no..not another guy that thinks ford ran to mexico to save money and went there for no other reason..the answer to this is to long.but i will try..first off..ford has been in mexico for many many years..and in south america since at least the 1950's..and most of what is built there ,,stays there..example..did you eve hear of a lobo?.most ppl did not,,and for good reason..lobos are built and sold [ONLY] in mexico
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Nope, Google Ford/Chevy/Dodge outsourced. Granted you may be partially right that some vehicles are sold in Mexico, how is that different from the Tundra which you assumed gave more money to Japan?
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 you are wrong cuzz parts do come from china and japan ..but f series sold in the us are all made in the us..the lobo and f series are just about the same..so of coarse fords will use the same wire harness as an example as the lobo cuzz it is made there and cheaper.so it makes good sense to do that ...when ppl look at wiki for answers they do not understand all they are reading ..ford made alot of vehicles in canada but most stayed there , but profit came here
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 and something ppl dont realize is..if a car is made in canada like my 90 merc marquis in ST thomas ..ford did that cuzz some plants are much easier to change a plant over from one vehicle to the next ..so ST THomas was the ideal place to change over to the panther chassis ..AKA crown vic grand marquis , lincoln ,all built with the same american parts as if it made in detroit...just that plant was an easy swap over in canada
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 and also ..alot of vehicles built in canada are not sold in the states..example..mercury trucks??..only built and sold only in canada ...pontiac beaumont ..ever hear of that ??..or see one??..probably not...certain trucks built in south american are alot different then in america and they stay there..ford made maverick station wagons in south america..not sold in the u.s ..south american dodge charger is totally different then the U,S model ,and the list go's on and on
390merc65 5 months ago
So...do you have any proof contradicting what I said about the link? Or should I mention that your Merc probably caught fire because of a cruise control issue that has burned homes down resulting in a 10-year long recall? I acknowledge that Toyota has pedal issues. But you act like Toyotas the only one that has had recalls.
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 i am aware of some stupid things done by ford..i admit that too..i have never tried to hide any of that either....you just made a good point..see?..ppl hear things and automatically think every and all fords are condemned to fire..yes they had that trouble but not all of them ..my merc never cought fire ..except for the vinyl roof at the time for the garage fire ...and no ..ford actually had more recalls then most of them ..and alot of that was due to the head of ford at the time
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 Well, score one for you and score one for me.

@taitai907 ok dude..i was gunna say the same its cutting into my beer time...have a good one
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 if that much is left behind in the US then that is probably toyotas cost to manufacture the tundra here,,,i mean does it make sense to invest so much in manufacturing and everything else included and do all of this and not take money home?..no of coarse not ..if they took home less money then they put in, then they would, not be profitable..right?..there fore they would operate in the hole and it would coast money to be here instead of making profit
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 lets say if ford was in japan making the f150 for japan sales.,and assume they were profitable..dont you think after all the coast and over head was paid that anything left over will come back to the US??..of coarse..a ford can be sold anywere in the world , but the profit comes back to our soil...dont you think toyotas sold in canada or any country , that any money left over as profit doesnt not go back to japan???..of coarse it does

390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 I already told you why you don't see a lot of '70s Toyotas around and I told you that I don't own all those Toyotas, my entire family does. Most Toyotas aren't the type to go on auction but there are some such as the 2000GT that have been auctioned for as high as $375,000. Given how you've never owned a Toyota and detest imports, your words are very narrow-minded. I'd complain, but you admit it. Anyways, are we gonna make up half the comments on a video again?
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 no dude..you think i am narrow minded?..nope..i will give you a quick reason why i hate imports...there was a time long ago i was young and impressionable about toyota's..or any imports..a friend had 2 toyota;s back in the mid 80's ..it was funny cuzz i woukd have to take him to the dealership to get parts for his [ so called ] reliable toyota's as i drove him in my 69 monterey ..my car was much older then both his toyotas together..yet it was the toyotas always needing repairs

390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 sorry..its just hard to sell me the idea that imports are superior when i see my neighbor who owned a accord and it only went 135k and it was going on its second tranny..he bought it new..and laffs at me when i drive by in my 21 year old merc with over 300k and survived a garage fire and it still runs fine on all of its original untouched drive train ..or my niece's 5 year old vw that is a nightmare of trouble..and thats when its stays running
390merc65 5 months ago
@taitai907 the thing about yota is they are a master of hiding problems with using the excuse of a scheduled oil change or other maintenance and as the vehicle is in the shop they preform other fix's not known to the customer , so thats one reason why yota does not have so many recalls..you can believe it or not..thats the truth just like unintended acceleration...toyota know all about that back in 2003 but in court denied any knowledge of this issue and destroyed documents supporting this
390merc65 5 months ago
I'm just going to say one last thing, I'm too busy to argue. Let me just point out that, you have no presentable evidence to most of your claims. For every article that says something good about Toyota, you claim something to the effect of "Toyota paid them to say it." Basically, that's all I can present without videotaping all my Toyotas. But if you were to try to present articles of how Toyotas are unreliable, you'd be outgunned. Anyways, why don't you post a video of your '77 Ford?
taitai907 5 months ago
@taitai907 were did i say toyota paid someone to say something??....you said i was narrow minded..and i said no and gave you my own personal experiences that changed my judgement over the years on imports..alot of imports are reliable and go the distance, but domestics do as well ..in fact you can cruise utube and find a few vids of american vehicles going up to a million miles or more,,but [ONLY] one vid of a toyota in some other country ..why is that ????
390merc65 5 months ago
@390merc65 I said "something to the effect of". I'm gonna send you a link about Toyota's financial summary.
taitai907 5 months ago
@390merc65 Oh, and...no. On Youtube, just like everything else, for every video you see of a Toyota screwing up, you see multitudes more domestics screwing up. But according to you, every video that says that Toyota IS reliable can't be true. As for proof, just Google "Most Reliable Vehicles". That will handle itself.

@390merc65
MANY people without much money needed trucks just like these.
tommartyn 6 months ago
@tommartyn i am sure there are american trucks that have frame issue's..but for a 6 year old toyota to either be taken off the road or have a frame replaced is just bad..no excuse for that at all...and there are alot of american trucks that go hundreds of thousands of miles also,,hell i am driving one ..for not much more money you could buy a full size truck that will do twice the work as a toyota back then ,,my buddy had a86 yota years ago..it was nothing but expensive trouble to fix
390merc65 6 months ago
@390merc65
And many people couldn't afford that back then, and didn't need the extra bed size.
tommartyn 6 months ago
@tommartyn isnt a tacoma a toyota truck??.i disagree that they were cheap to fix ...i have been around imports since the early 80's and remember my buddys car,,i think it was a tercel or some sport model toyota..it had the 22r motor..well it was just ironic that he needed a vacuum advance for his car and i did to for my [ at the time 17 year old] 69 mercury ,,my part was on the shelf for 7 bucks and hos had to be ordered for 49 bucks..
390merc65 6 months ago
@tommartyn i know these trucks are not all that great on fuel..about 8 years ago someone i know bought a [ at the time ]a new trd 4cyl.,,,they were very disapointed on millage ..and yes not everyone needs a full size truck,,but you do buy a truck to work ..and by twice the work i mean .living the the coal region of P,A if you need to get a ton of coal .those small yota;s wont do it..so you need to make 2 trips .of coarse that is just one example

Brand new spark plug though :) Wrong one of couse

Checked out your channel. You guys have a lot of fun. Wish I still had my own big F-ing playground. I used to live on a big ranch in the mountains with a gravel quarry, and a couple of big mud pits. I had a blast, and made a couple of my friends puke with my driving... AHH, good times. Sure do miss having that kind of stress relief!
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
The big ranch in the mountains had to be an awesome place.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn Man I miss my big playground in the mountains. Now I live in the inner city, and the only place I can goof around is the parking lot for my apartment (and there are security cameras, and not much fun to be had anyway). I put new 35"s on my old Ford, but the only time I get to put them to good use so far this winter is when I pull people's cars (and a few trucks) out of this GIANT POTHOLE that forms when the temp stays below freezing for a few days.

tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn Yeah, there are lots of places, the mountains are only about 20 miles away, but this time of year, most of the places to play are buried under ice for a couple more months. I guess I will just have to have twice as much fun this summer to make up for a sort of boring winter. Some friends and I still go prospecting once in a while in the winter, but most of the good places won't be accessible 'till spring. What part of the country are you guys in?

american trucks may have gotten materials and supervisors to jobsites to build america, but how much of the heavy equipment is american? and how many of the workers for that matter are american? look up "top gear killing a toyota". as far as breaking frames, its all maintenance. my 84's box frame doesnt have a lick of rust on it.
5438380 1 year ago

Sure maybe a Toy can do the petty little things that you do, but Toyotas didn't build the world that you Americans see around you.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
First off, what the FUCK is your problem? I'm not saying american trucks were total shit. Every type of vehicle has a place, Larger heavier trucks are needed for the bigger jobs you mention. But smaller, more fuel efficent, reliable, high mileage vehicles like these toyota pickups were needed by many people with smaller jobs as well. Petty? You call starting a successful landscaping buisness with a toyota petty? Because thats what the original owner of this one did. It built his buisness.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry. I agree with you for the most part about how smaller pickups have their place too, but nobody I have known has gotten high mileage out of their Toyota trucks. One thing I don't like about them is that they have such a small bed and light suspension that it takes more time and several trips to move materials. My main point with this video is that people keep saying that a pickup that breaks in half is tough- that is a contradiction.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271
every toyota owner i know has gotten high miles out of them. Especially people who drive them hard. They have their place, but we've hauled a crazy amount of weight with ours many times. The 4x4's have much stiffer suspension. The 4x2's are more car like.
Any and all trucks can break in half, and will given enough time, and lack of care.
A few people have commented about their fords, or other american trucks doing the same thing after seeing the video.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271 HAHAHAH, my 91 Toyota truck has 185,000 miles on it and I redline it EVERY weekend. It still gets its original sticker mpg.
My dads 99 (8 years newer for those mathematically challenged) Chevy 2500 threw a rod revving at 5000 rpm, cause it down shifted to 3rd while towing a 23 foot Jay-co aluminum trailer. BTW, it had 70,000 miles on it at the time.
zakattack467 1 year ago
@zakattack467 My 81 Ford truck has around 600,000 miles on it, and still going strong. It has never been kept in a garage, and the frame is still rock solid. I have used it for concrete work and ranch work for years, and I still go four wheeling all over the Rocky Mountains with it. My friend's 98 Toyota Tacoma has more rust than my truck has, and his has spent a lot of time in the shop even though he never hauls anything, or does much off roading.

furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
EXCUSE ME???? Name calling??? What the fuck are you talking about??? "dude" that was all i called you!!!! What the fuck is your problem????
I had a valid point the entire time, That toyotas are very durable, low maintenance, high MPG light trucks, that have made many peoples lives better. That points still stands, and i have a serious problem with racism, and people who put down gay people. Gay people make as much sense as straight people, and its fucked up to act like its different.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271
you know, seriously, all the fucking childish bullshit you just wrote, then say i have a problem "intelligently" backing up my claims. They aren't Just MY claims, Toyota is long famous for durability, and being tough. Many trucks, american and otherwise rust in half. Toyotas have thinner metal, being as they are Smaller Lighter duty trucks, so they rust in half before larger american trucks. It only takes about 2 seconds of light thought to understand that.
tommartyn 1 year ago
And you say your ford has 600,000 miles on it. If you were a decent person i'd met or talked to in some good honest way, i'd believe you, But you come on my video, and start insulting toyota in retarded close minded bullshit ways, because you're pissed off that American work is getting shipped over to other countrys, so you find it necessary to take it out on an automaker that is known for high quality, especially during the 80's all american companies were starting to turn out some real shit.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271

You act like you want this to be an honest thing debate about the durability of toyota pickup trucks, then you spout a whole bunch of small minded jabs at me, and make up some bullshit. So i'm only allowed to respond to comments you wrote to me on youtube??
Those people aren't friends or aliases, You're coming up with ridiculous shit for unknown reasons.
tommartyn 1 year ago
You're truck might have over 600k on it with no major work (especailly if its the inline 300), but i'm not very damn likely to believe a son of a bitch that comes on here and insults the living shit out of things that don't deserve it. You haven't been honest in this debate, and have a chip on your shoulder against foreign companies to begin with. Thats something you need to work past before you get into these kinds of discussions. use some reason, how can only american stuff be good?
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn Yep, 4.9 liter, inline 6 cylinder, Dana 44 front axle, stock.

The bodies rusted a lot, but frame, engine, were good, and suspension was tough.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
I'm sorry about the SOB thing, i honestly didn't mean the literal sense of that at all. After i wrote it i saw that, and should have deleted that, because i don't mean that. My mom truly is a horrible bitch of a person, but Seriously, in no way to i think anything bad of your mother man. I'm sure she is an awesome person, and has worked her but off. And im not saying this because of fear, i feel like shit about it coming out like that. I don't have a youtube account to fight with people.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn I realize now that you didn't mean it literally. She really is a tough old lady, when I was 15, I called her a bitch, and she knocked my punk ass down with one punch (I totally deserved it). My dad beat the shit out of me all of the time, but he never knocked me down with one punch LOL! By the way, apology accepted, and I apologize as well, I can become a little too defensive sometimes.

@furiousgeorge1271
Ran perfect of course :) Near 300K
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn Yes the Land Cruisers were old Toyota Jeep-like things, and they were pretty good off road. The ones that I am familiar with (mid 70s) had inline 6 cylinders (I think they were 260 cid), and had a solid c- channel frame, and a solid suspension. They did have body rust problems, though, and some of the parts were really expensive to replace. There were also bigger Land Cruisers that were sort of like a Jeep Comanche, or something, but I haven't used any of them before.

@furiousgeorge1271
Their like my 46 Willys CJ-2A.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@tommartyn For the record, I don't hate you, man.I apologize for giving you shit when you lost your temper. I have blown a fuse before myself, and it brings out the worst in me. If we put the insults aside, we can both learn from our conversations instead of bitching at each other. By the way, I am not a racist, I believe that we are all members of the same race; the human race (regardless of ethnicity, gender, or otherwise). I have my own beliefs, which may differ from mainstream, but so be it.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
@tommartyn Continued... Now at least you admit the 90s and up aren't good, but the 80s were nothing special either, but I admit most American cars from 80s and early 90s sucked, so did Toyota. I had friends with 80s toy pickups with the big lift kit, and big tires and look all cool, but they couldn't do much of anything with them, and one of them almost completely crapped out when we were on a camping trip. The only toys I liked at all were old Landcruisers, and they had rust problems.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
I understand how and why you don't think that this video shows how tough a toyota is. completely get your stupid fucking point. if somethings strong, it shouldn't break in half. Its a very simple minded opinion, but its yours and you're free to have it. many people would disagree, and have, and i understand that as well.
But completely aside from this video, toyotas are tough as shit. They can't compare to load hauling as the big american trucks, but THEY DON'T HAVE TO. they're not for that
tommartyn 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271
Can out Off Road, in pretty much ANY circumstance,
ANY stock american pickup truck with stock tires.

@furiousgeorge1271
What a piece of work.
tommartyn 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271 whoa dude, i never said im backing toyota. haha i gotta love my fords, sure i like toyotas, but no little rice-burner pickup will ever compare to a ford or chevy in my opinion. but that doesnt make them a p.o.s. truck, either. Considering most racing trucks are toyota, their better for speed and acceleration, not for handling insane amounts of horsepower or torque. So I think you should chill, as I said before, and stop being giving americans a bad name with your stupid antics
elgandos2 1 year ago
@elgandos2 I think that you should chill as well, and quit insulting people just because you disagree with them. You have insulted me twice instead of coming up with an intelligent response. I guess you just didn't have one, so you had to resort to insults. I only stated originally that I don't think that a truck that breaks in half is tough, and you responded by insulting me. If you disagree with me, thats fine, but try explaining why in stead of just name calling. Grow up.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271 yes, my first response was an insult but a joke... i was just in a hyper mood and felt like being a lil shit lol. And I just told you in my last comment that I absolutely dont disagree with you. I said I will always love my fords and chevies and nothing will change that, so in reality, i didnt resort to insults. And as you can see, ive already explained everything I needed to for us to be on the same page here...
elgandos2 1 year ago
@elgandos2 No harm done, man, I can get a little defensive sometimes. If it was one of my friends saying it, I would know that they are joking (and maybe smack 'em upside the head), but through a computer screen I can't see if you're smiling, or giving me the evil eye.
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
@furiousgeorge1271 If you Ford has 600,000 miles on it you will post a video, if not your just a ignorant prick giving all Americans a bad name. So post a video or FUCK OFF. Second, the Japanese don't care who's truck built the space needle. As far as the eastern hemisphere is concerned we can keep on sending them our blue plans for car parts AND THEY WILL KEEP ON BUILDING THEM. Sure, you worked your ass off with a hard hat, beating your body up, living the American dream.
zakattack467 1 year ago
If they are so tough, WHY DO TOYOTAS TRUCKS KEEP BREAKING IN HALF? WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!
furiousgeorge1271 1 year ago
Have you ever beaten the shit out of one? Do you know anything about these beasts? Obviously not or you would know the reason's why they are tough. If a frame rusting in half makes a truck not tough, then no trucks ever made are tough, because they all have steel frames, and will all rust in half if not taken care of. This was used by a landscaper for years to haul mulch and other corrosive stuff around, it ate the paint off the frame, and it rusted away. We beat the balls off this thing.
