hey what did you use processing with tuio and react? and within processing did you use the minim library? I'm a design student trying to test the reachable out. and I'm doing it through processing and am having some trouble loading the sounds. do you think you can help me out?
I have a massive folder of doodles at home, much like yours. i have been trying to do somethign with them for years. Now I know what to do. Ableton and this.....man, out of this world!
@awayfromhome I have figured out the correct midi device in the configuration but am having problems sending the signals to the midi out. Any help. Thanks :)
Hey let me ask you something, do you know how to get the "scale" of a fiducial marker? i'm using ReacTIVision with Processing and the API has no method for obtaining the scale, however there are such for positions, Ids and rotation...
@litlekarim33 - I have to agree with you - although it's more just a different medium. It has the advantage of being tactile so you can nudge and move elements around in groups in a no-brainier way. For loop-based performance (quantized) with multiple people on a bigger surface it's fun. But as a piano / guitar replacement it doesn't fare so well given the latency and trigger method. So live part sequencing = good, live note seq - unless attached to an arp - not so good! V2 now in works :-)
Hey Chris, where's that drum loop from? I've previously heard it in Zone66 and some other MODs, but I have no idea where I could get a HQ version for my own tracks. :) // Saga Musix
@moejoe1337 : Hey man. How are things your side of the globe?! The Drum loop is from a tune called When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin. It's quite a standard loop. Another of the loops is just sequenced on my old MC505 (as pictured)
@ryandward Yeah - you are right! But it's a limitation you just deal with. My next version, if I ever find the time, would be on blocks of wood so you can get under them. Then a bigger area too - and a higher shutter speed. Many people use a sheet of glass and put the camera underneath. Which is kinda cool because then you can write notes on the back to what the blocks do. This was just seeing what I could do with paper alone without spending any $.
@VenusAsABoyFilms LOL. I'm actually Australian, but I often travel to Europe for working shops playing with this kinda stuff, so I'll give ya that one!! :-D (also Boston and NYC are two other places I've found mass innovation)
@VenusAsABoyFilms : I think ElComandanteSpam has answered that. :-) Although ReacTivision is an open source project that calls on a lot of libs written by a lot of people all over the world. Everything from the bridge-to-MIDI to the XML parser has (probably) been worked on by different teams. It is why this software is so magical - it's truly a global project with a lot of people throwing ideas and heart at it.
im not sure but it looks like you might have used the same technique to do this as i did to make a home made touch pad for my computer. what i did was took a box with the top missing and put a piece of paper ofer it and put a webcam at the bottom and installed a program that saw the shadows of my fingers and put them into mouse movements. did u do this and just put difrent patters on paper so it would show the shaddows of the desighn and play the sound thay where asighned?
Well, I don't have to touch anything other than the blocks if that's what you are asking. (?!) The patches are linked to the blocks. The programming basically involves taking x / y / rot raw data and writing a "link" file which triggers events when a block is seen or hidden, creates MIDI controllers from the data and sets thresholds (so 0 doesn't suddenly become 127 on rotation). So I guess it's just the data from the blocks which is making the tune! (beats are prerecorded loops though)
That's greeeat! I actually really dig the accidental retriggering and the dodgy A4 paper. Could you adapt it so it can recognize other objects as the different elements... like a banana perhaps? Just a thought.

@debuglive Thanks a lot for the response. Let the sampling begin! :D
Things are going good on this side of the globe, I have some tunes in the making. :)

Dunno if this is even real, but it sucks that you cant cover it with your hand or it won't be recognized.

how make sound stop when remove fiducials???
nice job!!!!!
igorsanson 2 years ago
You just assign the note to be gated so it only stays on while the fiducial is recognized.

so you don't use Pure Data at all, wow!
