@UFCextra if you would see how close the current M5 is keeping up with the CTS then imagine the M5 with 78 more hp and a lot more torque then it should beat the CTS, but we will see. I don't see the top speed being lower than the current M5 though, just saying. The E60 will do about 201 mph with the M button on. If you watch there are a couple videos with the V and the M5 in a 1/4 mile and you will see the M5 start pulling on the V hard after about 150 mph. We will see

Fuck yeah CTC-V, the new 5 series looks like a new 7 series only smaller with a 3 series rear. It'll probably be ridiculously overpriced like all BMW'S. As for the A7, nothing special it'll probably have the 4.2 v8 quattro.

I think the CTS coupe is an ok looking car. It just needs a bit of redesigning to make it look like a coupe not just a CTS with only 2 doors.
I am VERY glad that BMW has made the new 5 series a nice looking one. I'm still not tempted with the 5 series but I think the sportier M5 would get me all hyped up. Really it's WAY better looking than the previous generation 5 series and I thought it would look like a smaller 7 series. They should do the 7 series redesign next.

I'm sort of half with you, 321sam. I love Cadillac styling from the front. Sure, it's a little boxy, but it has a stylized futuristic sort of thing going for it, and you can't say "no" to a sloping roofline. But good god that rear-end is fugly.
Honestly, why does everyone think michael schumacher is going to come out of retirement? He is retired! The the only reason he was going to come back last season was to take masa's place while he was out. I like the simplistic look of the e39's. The e60 looked to much like something lexus would make. The new f10 is better. The E34 m5 was sick looking and still does. I like the e39 the best. The e39 m5 was a true sports sedan 400 hp 6 speed trans and rwd. What ever happened to manuel trans anyway? Going the way of the dinosaurs I guess =(.

The new 5-series looks like an old bar of soap.... BMW has to step it up... The 3-series sedans and coupes look great and the 7-series b4 the latest one looks fantastic as well... these new models are just getting wierd and sloppy... Mercedes is following in the same footsteps... Basically, to me, the best years of design for both companies were 2002-2005. Those were the hottest models.
@Elements153 keep in mind, they are luxury sedans, not sport sedans, even though they handle like them, cause bmw is just awesome like that... but yeah, 5 = luxury, look at 3 and 1 and 6 and 7 for anything sporty, and ofcourse z and m, am i missing anything
I agree with you about Mercedes, especially the C230 Sport Coupe, the last four-cylinder Benz sold in the US (The B-Class is Canada-only)
However, 02-05 was a TERRIBLE time for BMW when Chris Bangle was jsut getting started. Luckily the E39 and E46 carried through some of that frame, but still... five years earlier was even better (E36-3, E31-8, E38-7, and E39-5). They dropped their four-cylinder engines in 1999 for the US market!
probably id the change the front bumper and tail lights it would look better. and it would be alot better if it had the squarish tailpipes instead of the circular one, kinda makes the rear common.
The F10 5 Series looks like, to quote Jeremy Clarkson, "15 feet of car. Just some car. It is mild cheddar" It is so nondescript it barely deserves mention. The old fiver wasn't very good looking, but at least it made a statement..
I admit, the new 5 series looks pretty good, but when will car companies stop. That 5 series is bigger than older 7 series. Soon we'll have 7 series the size of a hummer. I think some cars need to stay in their own weight class. That being said, the 5 series should slim down a bit.

I'd wish BMW would stick with more a aggressive look like their older models have. Their new looks just don't put out the same message as it used to. The new 5 series' back lights are especially distasteful and do not take on the classic bold look. Maybe my tastes are just a little outdated. Performance-wise I'm sure the car is stellar as usual.
the M5 sounds WW2 plane. I see the fighter plane in it. I think they are going back to the more classic BMW body styleing of the 80s & 90s with a modern twist on it, of corse.

New 5Series looks fantastic. German design screams sophistication. I can respect someone who says they don't like it. To each his own. I will say that they seem to put more thought into it than the American makers do. With exception of Ford, all the rest look like building blocks with brick like square and straight lines. Some exceptions of course, but generally speaking, makes me sad we can't design beautiful looking cars quite like Europe.
So, I see a problem which I'm pretty sure everybody else is seeing. All German car manufacturers are losing their ties to designing good looking cars. Mercedes lost it after they decided to break away from their previous C-Class, BMW lost it when they let that ass-tard Bangel screw with the 3,5, and 7, and Audi is loosing it now with their new A4. It's almost as if they're looking at the Japanese designs and saying "Hey, there's an ugly car, let's copy it but ad some German 'flair'...." FAIL

Yet you do not pronounce gorget as gordjay you say gore-get see an accent. The way Americans say coupe is an accent. With a distance of 5567.11Km between the UK and America there is ample separation and isolation to produce a different accent. If you don't believe me consider how Robert Newton spoke in his role as Long John Silver. Shaftesbury, Dorset was isolated enough to allow a proper Elizabethan accent to survive, despite the accents that flourished in the 1950's.

when a word is often used in a foreign language it is often changed in spelling in pronunciation to match the common dialect, yes this habit is based on a small degree of ignorance, but it's how most languages in the world work. With the spelling of coupe the French pronunciation is uncommon in the English language to commonly spelled words. Based on your frustration, half the products sold in Japan with English names would piss you off, ask a Japanese person to McDonald's, see what you get.

I'm sort of half with you, 321sam. I love Cadillac styling from the front. Sure, it's a little boxy, but it has a stylized futuristic sort of thing going for it, and you can't say "no" to a sloping roofline. But good god that rear-end is fugly.

Honestly, why does everyone think michael schumacher is going to come out of retirement? He is retired! The the only reason he was going to come back last season was to take masa's place while he was out. Now everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and are are saying he might be signed to a team next season. It is not going to happen, especially since he has just signed a three year contract with ferrari to test their cars. It would be pretty awesome if he did come back but the fact is he's not.

I like the simplistic look of the e39's. The e60 looked to much like something lexus would make. The new f10 is better. The E34 m5 was sick looking and still does. I like the e39 the best. The e39 m5 was a true sports sedan 400 hp 6 speed trans and rwd. What ever happened to manuel trans anyway? Going the way of the dinosaurs I guess =(.

The new 5-series looks like an old bar of soap.... BMW has to step it up... The 3-series sedans and coupes look great and the 7-series b4 the latest one looks fantastic as well... these new models are just getting wierd and sloppy... Mercedes is following in the same footsteps... Basically, to me, the best years of design for both companies were 2002-2005. Those were the hottest models.

@Elements153 keep in mind, they are luxury sedans, not sport sedans, even though they handle like them, cause bmw is just awesome like that... but yeah, 5 = luxury, look at 3 and 1 and 6 and 7 for anything sporty, and ofcourse z and m, am i missing anything

I agree with you about Mercedes, especially the C230 Sport Coupe, the last four-cylinder Benz sold in the US (The B-Class is Canada-only)
However, 02-05 was a TERRIBLE time for BMW when Chris Bangle was jsut getting started. Luckily the E39 and E46 carried through some of that frame, but still... five years earlier was even better (E36-3, E31-8, E38-7, and E39-5). They dropped their four-cylinder engines in 1999 for the US market!

I admit, the new 5 series looks pretty good, but when will car companies stop. That 5 series is bigger than older 7 series. Soon we'll have 7 series the size of a hummer. I think some cars need to stay in their own weight class. That being said, the 5 series should slim down a bit.

It looks just like all of the other BMWs. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty but havnt we seen this a million times before.
I couldn't tell a $150,000 BMW from a $30,000 one. If I had around $100,000 I would justbuy a corvette zr1 or a Mercedes roadster

The F10 looks like the F01
The E60 looks like the E65
The E39 looks like the E38
You're only complaining because the latest two are uglier than the E38 and 39. They look the same too but nobody cares because they look good!

I'd wish BMW would stick with more a aggressive look like their older models have. Their new looks just don't put out the same message as it used to. The new 5 series' back lights are especially distasteful and do not take on the classic bold look. Maybe my tastes are just a little outdated. Performance-wise I'm sure the car is stellar as usual.

New 5Series looks fantastic. German design screams sophistication. I can respect someone who says they don't like it. To each his own. I will say that they seem to put more thought into it than the American makers do. With exception of Ford, all the rest look like building blocks with brick like square and straight lines. Some exceptions of course, but generally speaking, makes me sad we can't design beautiful looking cars quite like Europe.

So, I see a problem which I'm pretty sure everybody else is seeing. All German car manufacturers are losing their ties to designing good looking cars. Mercedes lost it after they decided to break away from their previous C-Class, BMW lost it when they let that ass-tard Bangel screw with the 3,5, and 7, and Audi is loosing it now with their new A4. It's almost as if they're looking at the Japanese designs and saying "Hey, there's an ugly car, let's copy it but ad some German 'flair'...." FAIL
