@milkau828: total bullshit, Rome was decayed long before christianity came, because of inadequate political system (developed for a city or small state, not a gigantic empire) and some minor problems like hiring foreign mercenaries. Rome could possibly be saved by Ceaser, if he managed to center the Empire around the provinces and to continue the expansion etc. but at the time of christianity Rome was dead - and christianity built a great european power on its ashes.

The problem with Poland. If the germans of the 30s looked their history maps, it appeared a "holy empire" which had to be rebuilt again. If poles looked their maps, it appeared a "Great Poland"...which had to be rebuilt again. Reichswehr followed their own intererest. They wanted to control Freikorps and use them, if necessesary, for the "dirty jobs". (Fighting with communists, mercenaries in eastern countries). They were not interested in creating institutions that would eventually replace the army (which was the goal of SA and later the SS), but to retain the control themselves.
But they did gave weapons and money, when necessary.

For immigrants which are able to produce something of good for the community, they have the right of effective, positive integration. Soviet Union was made of socialist "republics"....so some people apply it as a synonim of bolchevism (communism), so people got easily confused. It seemed that, in 19th century, some people proposed "socialism" as a policy to benefit the society and minimize the effects of industrial revolution.

It wasn't the army, it was the Bavarian "polizei". Reichswehr was not completely neutral. There was military and paramilitary circles that were actively planning in secret a revenge of WW1. They supported some paramilitary groups and gave them weapons. There was a Guderian, for example, thinking about mechanized war. Later they were training tank crews with the soviets and making airplane and glider clubs to train future pilots.

Later he created the legend of the "stab in the back". (Dolchstosslegende). There was indeed, some minor incidents that involved workers who wanted to stop the war spontaneoualy, like in Russian Revolution.

These incidents involved minor sabotages, but you can understand, that people were suffering terrible under the war conditions and their prussian military masters which were simpy trying to control the simple people.

Third reich was expensive to maintain. If the administration is expensive and we have enough weapons, why not to take over other countries, maybe with more natural resources than ours? That's was the thinking of the 3rd reich rulers: gold reserves, oi, fertile lands, artistic treasures, workers...Countries like France, they paid occupation costs to the 3rd Reich because "occupation was expensive".

There was no plan to destroy Germany, there was a war that started against the French Empire because Bismark was good at faking telegrams and documents, and he forged the "Ems Dispatch". The people got rid spontaneously from the aristocratic rulers in the French Revolution. It is true, the country fall after in chaos, but it was also soon invaded by other european monarchies. There was no marxism or guerillas at that time, just the ideals of humanism and illustration. German revolution of 1848 also had high ideals, but it failed.

Cheap labor and use people until their exhaustion for later taking their land. In 1918, it is logical that France and England were looking Germany as a menace, but the real danger was this aristocratic group of militaristic rulers which have already started to do plans for the next conflict, and a great diversity of paramilitary groups. Using great numbers of common citizens and enlisting them into armies. To rise their economy, industry and agriculture by enslaving the East. Yes, they did. There was an "european colonialism", which was a kind of twisted thinking to justify the occupation of several countries around the world, the destruction of their local forms of government and the extraction of resources (which made many europeans rich). I do not deny that these countries did mistakes, but they never starter a prosecution against minorities in their own countries or tried to introduce slavery and serfdom again in Europe.

Think what you want, the expulsion of minorities and the ideas to enslave slavic populations were developed BEFORE HITLER and the plans to re-build the military power with tanks and planes were developed also BEFORE HITLER by military rulers. The genocide of entire populations have already started in Namibia UNDER GERMAN IMPERIAL RULE.

I became dissapointed, when I found that even in the WW1 some years later, there was plans for the occupation of Eastern Europe, the expulsion of jew populations and the reduction to serfdom or forced germanisation for slavic peoples. Ohne den Krieg gegen Österreich, hätte es keine deutsche Einigung unter Preußen geben können. Österreich hätte dies auch gewaltsam zu verhindern versucht. Außerdem mußte der Einfluß Österreichs im Norden beendet werden, die Kontrolle der von Dänemark gewonnen Gebiete.

Und Frankreich hat Deutschland den Krieg erklärt, wegen einer Nichtigkeit. Ja Bismarck hat dies geschickt herbeigeführt, weil nur mit einem äußeren Angreifer, die anderen Regenten sich unter Preußen vereinen würden. Das war höchste Staatskunst und nach damaliger Moral und Bewertung des Krieges als Mittel der Politik völlig zulässig.

There's 2 poinst of view about colonisation; the "romantic" point of view, colonisation is nothing more that to build plantations in exotic locations and send coffee and bananas to the mothercountry. Shooting against hostile natives is also included, because they are a menace against potential explorers.
The 2nd point of view states that colonisation was a conquest which destroyed the local cultures and their forms of government, used the people as cheap labor and take their natural resources

Sie wollten ihre Macht in Europa bewahren und verausgabten sich in 2 Weltkriegen und verloren dadurch erst Empire und dann Commonwealth für nichts. Anstatt mit Deutschland zusammenzuwirken und gemeinsam gegen die USA zu stehen. Deutschland hatte nicht die Möglichkeit das Empire zu übernehmen, so wie die USA es dann taten. 1914 fehlte dazu der Zugang zu den Weltmmeeren, die USA hatten den zu beiden Ozeanen und dazu riesige Ressourcen, Deutschland aber nicht.

Kaiser Wilhelm II hat ja viel getan, aber Krieg sicher nicht provoziert. Einfach mal nicht den verdrehten Geschichtsunterricht glauben oder dem ZDF. "Der Krieg, der viele Väter hatte - Der lange Anlauf zum 2. Weltkrieg" - behandelt auch die Vorgeschichte des 1. WK und warum die Britten diesen Krieg führten. Die Fakten sind nicht widerlegbar aus dem Buch, da es Tatsachen sind.

The only force that can restore Europe to power, from the point of view of miltary technology and natural resources, is Russia. I wonder how long it will take till people understand that. The Lion will rise from the East and the only Lion that is good for Europe is the Russian Lion. Yes to an Europe of Nations, still, Europe must join forces for one last great battle. Past memories are painful and I used to hate Russia too because they brought communism into Europe. But, after reading a few history books, I realized that in fact Russia was the true defender of Europe. Russia won WW2, Russia destroyed Napoleon, Russia killed the Turkish(Ottoman) Empire. Russia always did the job and someone else took the credits.
Europe is facing now a binary choice: Russia or USA. Vodka or McDonald's, "White" House or Kremlin, freedom or RFID chip enslavement. Think about it
