  • Excellent! One of the only songs I've ever heard performed live that can surpass the album cut.

  • This concert tour the ONLY time Bowie ever performed this song live, he permanently removed it from his concert selection after this tour.

  • @aegisofhonor pretty sure I saw him do this live later on, maybe 2004 or 1995. or maybe it was my imagination

  • Alomar is a genius.

  • bowie is so talented and influential he pretty much in vented alternative

  • Bowie is cool

  • Love this song!

  • I always preferred the A-side of Heroes to the A-side of Low. Great to see this - thanks!

  • I thought he was gonna sing the Disney one lol. It would've been interesting...

  • Simon House of hawkwind on violin. or am i wrong?

  • @UrbanGuerilla88 He played on Lodger, I guess you're probably right.

  • this was his best period because IGGY was around!

  • like Berlin at the time, the album "heroes" has two sides, one lively and upbeat, the other suspicious and paranoid. dunno wtf life of arabia fits in though..

  • @gringolazlo Its about drugs, I think. Listen to the final line, it has a direct (more or less), reference to "heroine"

  • @zascandil2000 it speaks about Berlin, in the time he composed the album it was devided by the wall. that song talks about the duality of the city, being 'the beauty' and at the same time 'the beast'

  • I really love this song, the first time I ever heard it was on the platinum collection and it's just impossible to listen to this and not have to dance to the music. I just love David Bowie, thanks for posting this.

  • alomar rocks but not so much as the master

  • It's performances like these that make the Berlin Era my favorite point in time during Bowie's career. Those opening notes that Bowie warbles at the beginning sent chills down my spine, and the band is especially kickass with the instrumental arrangement they're playing.

  • Nikorble2, if you're still reading this, he sings "...someone FETCH a priest", not "fuck." I guess we all now know where your mind is at?!

Out of all his music, what moves me, amazes me, intrigues me, is his music from this period, 1976-1978, when he made Station to Station(1976), Low(1977), and Heroes(1978), but also Lodger(1979), and Scary Monsters(1980). Astonishing music, darker, ominous: pushing his voice into new realms of unbounded expressiveness...3

  • @Gmapchannel Actually.... Bowie intended it to be "fuck," but either was asked to change it or decided to change it (I don't remember which) to avoid a problem with the record company.

  • @Gmapchannel you know at first he wrote it that way but then he changed it to "fetch". tony visconti used to curse like that during the recording sessions for the album. it's all on wikipedia

  • I. LOVE. DAVID. BOWIE.

<3 he's so great!!!! thanks for this (:

  • This was a great video! Thanks for sharing this. He's so lovable and terrific!

  • where exactly were they? I'd like to download something from that period...no official DVD has been released of those live performances in '78, has it?

  • great vid, thanks for uploading it

  • must played at max volume

  • Great

  • I can't believe how well they're able to perform this live. Just goes to show how much talent Bowie and his band really has

  • is that Herbie Hancock??? wouldnt be surprised.

  • thank god heaven left us standing on our feet.

  • I just saw it.

  • I'm seeing it right now.

  • The Best Instrumental Arrangement

  • someone fuck a priest...you can't say no to the beauty & the beast

  • i saw this when it was broadcasted

  • No One fUCks with BOWIE,,,, he changed the course of music 3 times just in the 70's, he did what the BEATLES did in the 60's

  • Oh, I thought this was going to be Disney's Beauty and the Beast! I thought how weird for Bowie! My mistake!

  • That's exactly what I thought. I couldn't imagine him doing Beauty and the Beast!

  • @Rocketjay12 Lol! That would have been pretty funny :D

  • @Rocketjay12 Oh my God same O_O

  • @Rocketjay12 its a classic.both of them, dont worry LOL

  • @Rocketjay12 you clown

  • @Rocketjay12 Disney's so didn't exist until a couple decades later. ;) It'd be divine inspiration!

  • @Rocketjay12 Well smile at least. You can't say no.............

  • Fantastic!! This song is a secret favourite of mine... What a beast!!! And Bowie is sooo charismatic its breathtaking...

  • "Daaarrlinng"

  • awesome - thx for posting :-)

  • lovely song, lovely man...♥

  • Wow, he has an amazing voice! And he's live too, none of that studio editing stuff.

  • Is it me or is Mr. B.'s voice plenty of sexy?

  • I love the song! Love David Bowie! He's the best!

  • I think Bowie and Belew are both beauties and beasts. Such an inmense talent!

  • Beware that Beauty...Beware that Beast...for they hold the Power.

  • hmmm,the line -up.

  • Woah, this is fantastic. Bowie sings this so well live and Belew is a mad man as usual!

  • he sings well live because he actually has a fansatsic voice unlike the singers nowadays who have their voice pretty much compleatly changed because they cant actually sing =]

    i love bowie !!

  • @beeb1992
