I have a 1098. It tops out at 173mph, hitting rev limiter after a LONG straight. The bike isn't geared to go faster, so unless you put a bigger front sprocket on the front or a smaller sprocket on the rear, it simply won't go 186, especially with such a short straight shown in the video and no serious power mods like supercharger, turbo, or nitro, and a full exhaust and dyno mapping won't give you 13mph of top end speed. I call bullshit. Maybe you should get your speedo checked with a GPS.
@nutsack1888 Service has nothing to do with it. The rev limiter kicks in at the usual RPM. Unless you change the gear ratio of the transmission, put different sprockets on, or remove the rev limiter (BAD idea) it isn't geared to go any faster. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about straight line stop speed. Most of my time is spent on twisty canyon roads at speeds under 120. Besides, I've got a Diavel for drag acceleration. That too rails the canyons beautifully.

which bike is the best I do not know but I like my R1 realistically affordable ,Ducati 1098 is beyond my reach right now but will remain my "Dream Bike" .

Ducati's are like a status symbol of sport bikes. They are like the Ferrari's of the sport bike world. The output of all the top brand sport bikes such as Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki are all closely matched in performance and each are all desperatly competing to make the "best" sport bike. I'm bias for the Ducati because the Italian styling looks incredable, and that's my opinion.
I have to agree. I'm a Honda RC51 rider till I die but Ducati has something the other bikes don't- soul and passion!
I love Japanese inline 4's but they are all so similar now that you are really just picking small differences. Ducati's have an awesome styling model and really LOOK like a better bike. I prefer riding Japanese bikes to the track but if I could have one bike to play with, it'd be a Ducati. sitting in my garage other than a ducati that i could just look at all day is ok with me!

No, so far my R1 has needed maintenance more than anything. I have to change the oil more than I'd like and I'm pretty sure it has a leak I just can't find where. The clutch is pretty rough it's not as smooth as the new cbrr's.
I've sat on the 848 before. The bike is comfortable. The 1048 is probably even more so. I wish it would stop raining here in georgia, so I could actually ride at some period. lol

anyone who knows anything about motorbikes knows that it doesnt matter if a bike is *italian or japanese*. the real fact is that a V-twin motorcycle needs 25 percent more engine CC's to compete with a flat inline four motorbike. that is why u get 1098's and 1198's instead of 1000 ducatis. v twins cant produce as much power as flat 4's. thats why flat 4's beat v twins with acceleration when its an even race *same cc engine*
The style of the engine or CC's barely matters in the horsepower section, it's the compression. A little GSXR600 has almost 13:1 compression. While a Harley V-twin only has about 9:1. Both engines have their advantages, the V-twin can produce more torque stock, than a modded Hayabusa, but with only half the horsepower.
I have owned and enjoyed Japanese sport bikes before, but after owning a Ducati, I would never even consider buying another Japanese motorcycle. Sometimes when I see an R1 or a GSX-R, I puke a little in my mouth. If you care only about horsepower then go ride a Busa. OR you can consider the fact that Massimo Tamburini designed the MV Agusta F4 (1999-2009) which is STILL a better performing bike than ANY production Jap bike, and not to mention the most beautiful motorcycle ever built.

If they are the Ferrari's of the sportbike world, then what does that make a Suzuki? A Corvette? Hardly. If you mean they are exotic, in fact they are no less exotic than a GSXR 1000 or R1. In comparison to other Superbikes, to say they are the Ferrari of sport-bikes is just absurd - one can assume such analogy is based off the fact they're Italian and not comparing the performance. You cant compare a Ferarri to a Corvette, but you can compare a Ducati to a Suzuki, etc.

40k? Maybe for a 1098r, but not an s. You can find these for around 12-15k used. Even a brand new 1198s is about 24k.

No they're not .Maybe if I had an air shifter like he did, and I had a power commander. Than yea I could smoke him. But Ducati's a much better company than Yamaha in the bike division hands down.

R1 is 185mph, 1080 is 186mph (I was wrong)
Why is Ducati a better company? I hear Yamaha supersports are very reliable. Plus, Yamaha won the 2009 MotoGP.

No, so far my R1 has needed maintenance more than anything. I have to change the oil more than I'd like and I'm pretty sure it has a leak I just can't find where. The clutch is pretty rough it's not as smooth as the new cbrr's.
I've sat on the 848 before. The bike is comfortable. The 1048 is probably even more so. I wish it would stop raining here in georgia, so I could actually ride at some period. lol

oh come on, you can't compare. it's all personal taste in super bikes. i'm a relatively quick rider but the bike accounts for 5% of the difference between racers. All the big bore sportbikes are very close.

anyone who knows anything about motorbikes knows that it doesnt matter if a bike is *italian or japanese*. the real fact is that a V-twin motorcycle needs 25 percent more engine CC's to compete with a flat inline four motorbike. that is why u get 1098's and 1198's instead of 1000 ducatis. v twins cant produce as much power as flat 4's. thats why flat 4's beat v twins with acceleration when its an even race *same cc engine*

The style of the engine or CC's barely matters in the horsepower section, it's the compression. A little GSXR600 has almost 13:1 compression. While a Harley V-twin only has about 9:1. Both engines have their advantages, the V-twin can produce more torque stock, than a modded Hayabusa, but with only half the horsepower.

I have owned and enjoyed Japanese sport bikes before, but after owning a Ducati, I would never even consider buying another Japanese motorcycle. Sometimes when I see an R1 or a GSX-R, I puke a little in my mouth. If you care only about horsepower then go ride a Busa. OR you can consider the fact that Massimo Tamburini designed the MV Agusta F4 (1999-2009) which is STILL a better performing bike than ANY production Jap bike, and not to mention the most beautiful motorcycle ever built.
