winterboard/springboard is the #1 reason people jailbreak their iOS devices anyway bcuz thats what about 80% of people's devices basically run on. Winterboard is the best thing you can get when you jailbreak, if your telling people to delete Winterboard, miether as well just tell them to delete Cydia!

Mobile Substrate save my Itouch it said "We are sorry for the inconvience your spring board has crashes you are now running in safe mode mobile substrate protected you push restart spring board to return to normal" all i had to do was push the restart button and 2 sec it was back to normal mobile substrate is highly recommened

You can reinstall winter board alps you want to remove mobile substrate the reboot your device then reinstall mobile substrate this will fix the error

Okayyy I was trying to change my carier name (the word iPod in the top left hand side) using make it mine app from cydia Do not get this it WILL send your i-device into recovery mode if used ( not 100% of the time but if your retarted then take that risk lol) okay the way to get out of recovery mode ONLY if you have changed your carier name go into the app and return the name back to iPod

@cloudxM16 Hey man, what you probably need to end up doing is restoring your device. Don't worry too much since your computer should have a full backup of it to restore it.

@slymask3 The themes is what really screws things up for people, thats what did it for me to begin with. Sounds like you're gonna have to restore you device

after you have restore your phone back to its oringinal state. All the download apps how do you you get that back on to the phone, because it comes up unknown and then an error message. I have the file download and save to my desk, just want to know how to get it back on to my iphone thanks.

To get rid of apps from cydia more easily is to juutso go to cydia go to search and type in cydelete. It works perfectly so when you hold an icon a little red x pops up instead of a black one so you know that it is a cydia app.

just restore your iphone and that should be okay.....just back up your iphone = all the important stuffs and then restore - there are many videos of restoring. good luck
I ended up having to just restore my 3.1.2 iPhone 3GS. It restored fine and I just rejailbroke it using Blackra1n and reinstalled my jailbroken apps and everything runs great now.

what exactly do you have installed extra? do you have Winterboard and all that crap, the themes and all that? If so restore the device and jailbreak again, and do not install winterboard. Also if you have the iphone 3Gs then that might be the problem since the jailbreaks for the 3Gs are still very buggy

Alright, I started getting these problems after I installed Winterboard and a southpark theme. After that, everytime I click a link in an app that's supposed to open up the safari browser, the springboard crashes and I go into safe mode. I've already uninstalled winterboard, soft booted, quick respringed, shut down, and everything else you can think of. Any other suggestions?

yea, sounds like you are going to have to restore, and yes it will automatically upgrade it to 3.0 firmware. Your apps will work, but first you are going to have to redo the jail-breaking process, which is not the same for 3.0 you can search up a tutorial on YouTube, and i'll try to have one up as well.
OK this really really work what happens is when i get past the slide to unlock when i open is that it freezes up so much the back round wouldn't work or anything would happen i tryed everything please write back.

Just restart it using the rocovery mode bar also don't install stacks or lock down as those will do this 2 and are harder to remove

Thanks it worked ;) first i deleated winterboard but that didnt help >.> because i had the same problem as Masterglitcher101 but then i just resorted my ipod and reloaded cydia and that's it ;P

after you have restore your phone back to its oringinal state. All the download apps how do you you get that back on to the phone, because it comes up unknown and then an error message. I have the file download and save to my desk, just want to know how to get it back on to my iphone thanks.

i had the same problem only that my springboard crashed and now my phone is really slow and i cannot get into my phone i did have a password what should i do now btw. i already tried the soft botting thing and still dident fix it and i tryed restoring but my itumes wont because i have the password and i cant unlock my phone plzz help

i restored my ipod touch becouse this happened and now when i restored it it will not turn completely on it is stuck on the boot logo the apple logo

To get rid of apps from cydia more easily is to juutso go to cydia go to search and type in cydelete. It works perfectly so when you hold an icon a little red x pops up instead of a black one so you know that it is a cydia app.

just restore your iphone and that should be okay.....just back up your iphone = all the important stuffs and then restore - there are many videos of restoring. good luck

I ended up having to just restore my 3.1.2 iPhone 3GS. It restored fine and I just rejailbroke it using Blackra1n and reinstalled my jailbroken apps and everything runs great now.

OMG thank u so much. safe mode was getting soo annoyin. all i did was keep removing all of my crap and it said restart springboard and nowit works . but will it ever happen again??? i hope not

i was selling my iphone to a friend.. and i said i needed to unlock it first so my dads mate unlocked it and when i got it back i downloaded winterboard and it went into safe mode and at that moment in time i was so scared i thought i locked it up AGAIN!! but you really helped thankyou!

yes i do have winterboard and i have the five row and five dock and other shit, not much just a few things. but isnt there sumthing i can do so i can keep all that? and yeah its a 3g not 3gs

this is my problem, i have jailbroken 7 times exactly and ive been through 3 iphones trying to do the jailbreak. i dont know wat to do the springboard keeps freezing.

what exactly do you have installed extra? do you have Winterboard and all that crap, the themes and all that? If so restore the device and jailbreak again, and do not install winterboard. Also if you have the iphone 3Gs then that might be the problem since the jailbreaks for the 3Gs are still very buggy

there is a app on cydia called aptbackup that will move all of your cydia apps into a folder hidden in itunes or somewhere

I have a ipod touch 1G and and jailbroke it for not that long ago and it have work very well with winterboard but now it's in safe mode and I tried to respring it in Bossprefs and that didn't work and i also tried the holding home and power button with no result pleas help me?!?!

my ipod touch is in safe mode and so i tried to simply exit it it worked for about 1 second and then went into safe mode again so i tried what you said to do and the same thing happened it only worked for like 1 second

Alright, I started getting these problems after I installed Winterboard and a southpark theme. After that, everytime I click a link in an app that's supposed to open up the safari browser, the springboard crashes and I go into safe mode. I've already uninstalled winterboard, soft booted, quick respringed, shut down, and everything else you can think of. Any other suggestions?

Fuck....Forget it Ill just wait till more cydia apps are compatible with 3.0 so when I restore Ill restore it to a cracked 3.0 firmware so I dont have to pay for it. Thanks for your help though.

i just recently had a problem on my 2g itouch. i was on cydia getting a tweek for my ipod when it was trying to respring it stuck so i switched it off. when i switched it on the start up logo was stuck i cnt switch it back off. i just waited until the battery went flat but thn i tried again and the same thing happened. i dnt know wat 2 do. can sum 1 help me

The problem with my ipod touch is that I tried to install fontswap wtih someguys tutorial here on youtube and now non of my apps open and it keeps going into safe mode. I cliked the home and power button at the same time, like you said, and the apple logo showed up but, still, non of my apps open... what should I do??? and if i restore I have to update to 3.0 software... will that fix my iPod??

yea, sounds like you are going to have to restore, and yes it will automatically upgrade it to 3.0 firmware. Your apps will work, but first you are going to have to redo the jail-breaking process, which is not the same for 3.0 you can search up a tutorial on YouTube, and i'll try to have one up as well.
