As far as classification, yes the iPad is a tablet computer. The term, laptop, today refers to a portable computer. In comparison, tablets are are UMPCs (ultra-mobile PCs) UMPCs are small, flat netbooks, netbooks are small notebooks, and notebooks are small laptops.
However, because the iPad is very advanced, and has over 100,000 available applications, it starts to crossover into the netbook field. If you take into consideration what the common uses for a netbook are, the iPad covers them all.

These guys don't know tech and the don't know the stock market. Market investments (big volume) are projecting about 18 months out. She's trying to connect the iPad announcement with the movement of the stock price THAT DAY. Its a little crazy since we already knew Apple was doing this like 3 months ago, and its already been factored into the stock.
For consumers: web surfing/web 2.0 apps, im chatting, watching video, listening to audio/internet radio, checking email, playing games, viewing photos, doing schoolwork, taking notes, audio recording, blogging, reading ebooks, Skype & other VOIP.
For business and enterprise:
taking inventory, preparing presentations, Office apps, connectiing to Exchange Server, updating databases, FTP connections, GPS Navigation.
