  • The deep voice in Squeeze was always Chris Difford-listen to Cool for Cats.

  • they rank up there with Ray Davies for songwriting

  • East Side Story is one of the most important albums released in 1981!

  • Pulls funny faces and that's his hobby. Where does Difford get these lyrics? A class above any other songwriter.

  • @MrSqueezefan could be the best pop lyricist next to elvis costello

wonder how many pop songs are about masterbation

  • from the days when people learn't how to play musical instruments and wrote proper lyrics!

  • Good song...who is singing with the deeper voice on this track?

  • @kentuckyfriedplus that deeper voice is chris difford. this song was absolutely destined to be an opener; it's just too invigorating to be sequenced anywhere else.

  • @mollyandbenb Thanks. His voice is very unique.

  • Magic................ Thank you

  • OMG do I love this album! This is the soundtrack of my sophmore year at ISU (on the other hand love aint a piece of skirt!)

  • great song

edmunds and costello all over it

  • 1 dislike??????????????

  • @bassmanjoe I agree! why search for, listen to and campaign against a song you're not likely to accidentally hear anyway ? ? ? ? who does that?!

  • @mchank - It's Glenn Tilbrook playing the solo, not Edmunds. Would have been wonderful to have heard what the album would have sounded like if it had been the original plan to have four separate producers on four sides of 10" vinyl.

Squeeze: the greatest band in the history of British popular music.

  • Was a huge SQUEEZE fan back in the 80's...very smart and funny....and talented..

  • Had the good luck to find this album at a second hand shop, had never heard of the band before but gave them a shot. Glad I did!

  • Great Effing song.

  • The intro is stolen from Booker T. and the MGs song "Time Is Tight".

But this is such a brilliant pop song I forgive them. Just don't let it happen again.

  • @vveq to me the intro sounds very very similar to dave edmunds stuff and I could be wrong but i think he preoduced this album .

  • @thewoozable Dave produced this song and plays the guitar lead on this track.

I checked the wikipedia and the album's liner notes.

  • @mchank cheers !

  • Gotta love this song and the lines "In the corner with his book and tissue/All he can do is pretend to miss you/Closes his eyes as he sees her body/Pulls funny faces and that's his hobby." Love, love, love Squeeze!!!

  • more videos from argy bargy please...incredible songwriters

  • all time favourite guitar solo! 1:35

  • @perolssong ditto................

  • wasnt a single, but should have been, better than ' labelled with Love', but then , what isnt?

  • I found this on vinyl in Rochester, NY for a dollar last year. This song is great, so is Piccadilly.

  • why isnt this on any of the greatest hits albums? One of their best

  • yes, i agree! i have been looking for this song but did not know it was on this album.

i don't even know if it's even in print.

    maybe on ebay..hehehe

  • @kinksboss1 - Wasn't released as a single - but I agree it's one of their best, the whole East Side Story album is excellent.
