everythings cool, just your car has different compression rate because cool more dense air is entering your engine .... more air is entering,, and the engine is cold so maybe the block is a little bit stiff, pistons are more crowded within its cylinders
My 1973 firebird I had back in 1983 started in -90 below windchill when i had to be at work at 11pm in minneapolis mn. My dads oldsmobile omega wouldnt start, he had to take the spark plugs out and heat them up, then put them back in and it started. but that ole firebird started every time,,never had a problem. I wish i still had that car......
ya i just purchased an 07 dodge charger with the 3.5L HO, i was thinking the same was there issues with the lifters or valves, was told its suppose to sound like that, plus everybody i know who has the 3.5L sounds the same
Use 5W-30 or 10W-30 either. First get a better oil filter. If you're changing it yourself, you're probably using a Fram. Fram has a cardboard endcap that the anti-drain back vavle does seal well against and the lifters loose their prime. Use a Wix oil filter or a good Purolator oil filter, one with a red (silicone) anti-drain back valve and metal endcaps. If that helps some but not completely, switch to 5w-30 in the winter time. The filter should help greatly.
I leave in miami and my charger starts right up built i have knocking noise aswell i do not know what it is . all i can say is i brought an american car...........................
what type of oil are you using? The 3.5 takes 10w30, but as stated in the manual you can use 5w30 to improve cold starts. You should definitely run 5w30 in colder months to reduce the strain on the engine; that's what i use in mine.
it takes 10w30 but the manual states 5w30 can be used in cold weather for improved cold starting. Realistically it can take both but in warmer seasons you'll want to use 10w30.
Yeah. Hopefully it has been tuned up and the oil has been changed on schedule. Temperatures like that will put a strain on any engine. When the weather warms up, be sure to have your mechanic check all your hoses. Any air or moister in a hose when it's that cold can cause the hose to leak or burst.
damn!!! my charger starts faster then that at -20 were i live.

That takes way to long to start at -14. My 30 year old Plymouth used to start better than that.

Thin oil + noisy hydraulic lifters + Chrysler product = ticking noise. you own a mopar hence the noise you here is normal.

3.5 has and always has taken 10W-30 preferred, so does the bored 3.5, the 4.0 SOHC. 5w-30 CAN be used but 10w-30 is preferred.

Damn man, I freezed out here just by watching your vid ... the coolest temperature we reached here is 2 C ...
BTW, in Canada, they are using the metric scale not like USA? as USA uses miles ... Feets, Inches ... etc.
albaraki 3 years ago
Yes, Canada uses celsius, centimetres, metres, kilometres. In other words, the Metric system, while the U.S. use the imperial system .

the only reason ur engine is sounding like that is cause its cold. my mom's 02 caravan sounds like shit as well when being started
spoilt99 3 years ago
That took a lot of cranking, it should start much better
FordsSuck95 3 years ago
It may be an intentional delay built into the PCM to build oil pressure before starting if its very cold

very cold
