Are you trying to hide something under all that confusion? If you wanted to clarify your ethnicity, you would not mention citizenship, place of birth, race, or linguistically skills, just your ethnicity. Stw, Hispanic & Spanish mean the same thing. Hispanics and asians come from the same area, that is why a lot of hispanics land asains look a like esp in hair/skin/ and eyes. :) :) Pueto Ricans also come from Dominican Republic who come from the native american tribe Tanios who came from Venezuela. Just a little deeper into hispanic history. But When it's all said and done we are all from the same place.. From Africa it is the mother land of all humans. We can all be tracked back to Africa. I am a proud Latina. :)

It´s strange because I don´t think people use hispanic or latino for people from Spain. But we aren´t called caucasians either...

For what I know, people use the word Mediterraneans for Portuguese, Greek, Italian and Spanish people...

I am Native American & latino/hispanic and my skin tone looks olive, I am darker than most caucasian people but I am light on the brown scale if that makes sense.? My husband's family always comments that my skin makes me look white. Ugh It's just like keep your opinions 2 yourselves becuz I didn't ask them.! What is even more sad is that I get racism from both sides, there is just no pleasing people. I usually just call myself Apache when asked bcuz that is what my heritage mostly is.

My husband is Salvadoran and he looks Native American as does all of his family, mainly being that Salvadorans are actually a type of "indian" ( I don't like that word but I wouldn't call them Native Americans, you know what I mean?) I am a proud mutt as you should be because these days NOBODY is purely ONE thing. When people ask, I say I am Spanish or Hispanic. I am not Mexican, I am not Chicano, I am not latino..I am Spanish mixed period. Oh and since the generations I come from are all born in U.S.A., I do not speak Spanish either. how am i ignorant.. a hispanic person is of spanish decent (from spain) whereas a latino person is from latin america. I'm not ignorant, people from latin america often call themselves "Hispanic" i think this is because it makes them feel more white, which is a shame, everyone should be proud of their ethnicity.

I took a La Raza studies class and since Latinos also have some Spanish in them we're classified as being Hispanic/Latinos. We can talk about this till the cows come home but I am proud of my ethnicity. I am Hispanic/Latino.

There is no such thing as Hispanic America. Latinos are a mix of mainly white, black, and indian, with some asian and middle eastern. Hispanic can be spanish speaking or relating to spanish culture, in that sense its not correct to generalize an entire group of diverse people by who their colonizers. But to each their own, everyone interprets things differently. I thing Alba got it right. Most people do not know the difference between race, ethnicity, culture, or skin color.
