i have Scottish and Irish heritage, and wear kilts appropriate to both, even though the Irish tartan is contrived but done in the name of bringing similar cultures together.

@stophverismo Historically, kilts are more significant to the Irish and Cornish than the Scottish, they just became a popular Scottish stereotype in the 1700's due to Celtic mercenaries in the mainland, ironically these people were almost always from Ireland. That being said, yes the kilt is appropriate to both countries, but is no more Scottish than it is Welsh, Cornish or Irish.

hey

the "flute thing" is a cross between recorder and irish flute. it's not plastic, like the common western recorder, it is infact metal. my teacher playes them. they come in a range of sizes (barrell length), therfore different keys. the fingering is that of a recorder, but there are some very minor differences. they are difficult to master because if u leave one finger out of place it squeaks very high and painfully =) so he is very talented to be able to play this instrument =)
