That new SkyWheel is going to make its debut this summer down there at Myrtle Beach. I wonder how long it'll be there?.....'til a bad Hurricane blows it down. LOL ...I'm hoping not though, i hope a Hurricane doesn't knock it over.
I remember so much fun going there, it like better then Kingdom park I think called, I think they bullshit been empty since I don't think build condo not sure. They should done was fight to save the pavilion this place like a landmarks. All the place Ripleys and moving theater still there. I go there every year more then 20 years.
I don't really remember the park but a few years ago we went in some shabby building that had a animated movie and the seats moved. They moved too much and my back ached for days..Anyone know what I am talking about?Did it close too?
@Turbo336 Is that theater still open?It was shabby too and I think I saw a sign there that it was gonna be torn down for condos?Did that happen?I was here the last time about 8 years ago.
@lilbubba5014 The old movie theater building that I remember had a old parking lot and putt putt golf behind it.The amsuement park I don't remember or we just didn't go in that part of the beach.I do remember some old seafood restaurant that is still open. The food was good and its right on the beach.
@lilbubba5014 I think it was The Sea Captain's House Restaurant on North Ocean Blvd.I know you could see the ocean from their big windows.I'm reading about the orignal's builder and owner of this place. They were from High Point,NC.I used to live there myself but grew up near the NC Outer Banks and the VA Beach area.
@HattieLovesCattie I could be wrong but I think your talking about the ripleys moving theater and it is still there. And yes they said they was gonna tear all that stuff down to build condos. Its funny because all that is there is an empty lot with a bunch of palm trees they panted.
The Mind Scrambler was the same way. I actually did get to ride the Mind Scrambler before they later tore down the tent to make room for the crappya** Hurricane. The CorkScrew upside down track went right over the Mind Scrambler tent which was cool. The Mind Scrambler was in total darkness with lights, lasers, & a fog machine. It was an awesome ride! That same Scrambler that sat under the Hurricane track is the same ride for the Mind Scrambler..minus the enclosed yellow & red tent.
Oh yeah, i've had dreams of it still being there. I've also cried in my dreams since its closing wishing it was all just a dream, but it's real that it's closed. I wish i had gotten to ride the Sky Tracker before they tore the tent down and put a WipeOut in its place, yuck! >:( When i was little, i do remember hearing lasers and sounds inside the Sky Tracker. One night when they opened the doors to let the riders out, smoke came out. They had a fog/smoke machine in there i think.
The Pavilion would had lasted longer, i think, if they had kept it the way it looked in the late 1980's. The CorkScrew was Waay better riding than that back-breaking Hurricane ever was! Plus, it went upsidedown twice over the midway. They had some great rides in the 80's, the Swiss Bobs, Mind Scrambler, Sky Tracker. Sky Tracker was a Trabant inside a tent in the dark with lights, lasers, & music. If i had owned the Pavilion, i'd left it as it looked in 1988.
oh yea but they just let me ride for free and im only 11 ( 12 in march) i go there every spring break to celebrate my mom and me's b-da hers is 15 of march and mine is the 24. we always bring two of my bffs and go the pavillion but wat now? The HARD ROCK? boring!
