  • Bangle is an ugly piece of crap and needs to shave the dead cat off his chin. Goes to show you the obnoxious people behind an obnoxious car brand.

  • Ok, Saab is dead and BMW one of the most profitable companies in the world. Jason Castriota is now selling Chestnuts to Ford workers in Detroit.

  • i love this

  • Saab's dna can be summed up in its motto, "born from jets." Then they made that iconic silver 9-3 hatchback that was so popular. all the cars since then have great turbos and beautiful interiors. a 9-3 can go head to head with an a4 or a cts. And their last concept, the aero x was cutting edge and futuristic. That is saab dna to me.

  • fight fight fight :D

  • Parabens Jason Castriota Discuss.

  • OLD FART BANGLE

  • Bangle speaks honestly about his valid opinions, I just wish he'd be a little more subtle.

  • Great question from Chris Bangle. Sorry by I don't see it Jason.

There is nothing SAAB around PhoeniX. It's missing SAAB's DNA.

  • @dieselboy3004, i agree with you, nothing SAAB ( as we know it) around phoenix. But i would not go so far to say that its missing SAAB's DNA. They gave their first car the look from what they thought at that time would be cutting edge in aerodynamics, what it was. But today we know that the field of aerodynamics is much more compicated, it has to be experomented with. I dont like this phoenix design that much as an end result, but i love the idea an the work behind it.

  • The old grey haired man between them reminds me of the nazi dentist played by Laurence Olivier in the film Marathon Man.

  • Saab PhoeniX

  • Further evidence that Chris Bangle is a major arrogant douchebag.

  • E92 M3 is a masterpiece ~! the other bangle designed beemers are okay....

  • If Colonel Gaddafi were a cardesigner he'd be Castriota :-)

How can you create something like that and stand next to it with a big smile?

Instead of talking all the time he should concentrate a bit more on what professional cardesign is really all about: proportion and harmony

  • @ZV3N wtf are you talking about?! your ability to mix two completely different subjects and draw a stupid general conclusion it's amazing. I can understand you don't get castriota's design cues, but gadaffi?!! c'mon... don't tell me, you're stuck with an old overpriced b(angle)mw and and you're trying to sintesize happiness...

  • @REIKANOweb: I'm a cardesigner with 15 years experience who worked for Volvo in Sweden I can tell you there is nothing swedish about this car apart from the badge. That's why Bangle - who isn't stupid - askes him the question. The comparison with Gaddafi they both talk for hours without saying anything, get annoyed when people ask difficult questions and think they are awesome. This video is great comedy :-)

FYI: I ride overpriced Ducati Superbikes and company cars

  • @ZV3N let's keep it simple: I like the car, I would love to drive it. you don't. because in your opinion (backed by 15 y of design experience) has nothing swedish in it. I don't care. I like the car.what I don't like is bangle's condescending tone. you don't like castriota because he's talking too much. I would say it's a draw. you ride ducati. ok, you win. send picture.

  • Bangle is a pretentious talentless prat speaking down to someone with vision and a solid direction for a car/company which has struggled to create any real excitement with it's current products. All of Bangles designs have been questionable and all have had to have someone else come in and sort them out. OK Castriota may not have handled it in the best way but, he more than justified the design direction. As a product designer, I see he has conveyed Saab's identity & in a new bold way.

  • the visual definition of defensive behavior. catriota looks like a sophomore during a design critique, not able to separate themselves from their design work. taking it personal... sad..on top of that castriota doesnt seem to have a clue about saab design heritage (besides his repeated cliche go-to ursaab reference). this ego-monster is due for some humble-pie. stat.

  • @TomatoMultiMedia very nice comment. like!

  • Chris Bangle is an example of the difference between being controversial for otherworldly originality vs. just being controversial for the sake of.

  • Bangle is an artist, not just a "stylist". Ugly or not is a matter of opinion and thus irrelevant.

He made every single BMW look individual, not just from other BMW's but every other car on the road. That's exactly what the any buyer of a premium brand wants--a good car that looks distinguished. I can barely tell the current 3-series from the 5 or 7.

Bangle won't get the recognition deserves until he's dead...

  • Bangle asked a simple question: "What makes this car a Saab?" Castriota couldn't come up with an straight answer, so he started blabbing about drag coefficient. Bangle, then, asks the same question again and all Castriota could say was: "Have you seen the UrSaab?" That is just LAME.

  • Go Jason Castriota. Don't let the OLD FARTS bother you.

  • yes, Mr. Jason should own Aero as SAAB IS AERO.

  • OR, looking at the other side of the coin.

SAAB, the original design and concept wasnt bold enough.

This guy is making SAAB ALIVE!!!

  • There is more SAAB in a squid bagel than this car. Jason knows this, thats why he is so deffensive. He's struggling.

  • Im a Saab driver.

Hey it´s a simple answer to all of this. Jason is new and we can´t judge him just yet.

Jason is fresh and innovation in a more young way.

And Chris is like a conservative designer more oldschool.

Different styles, and maybe some jealosy involved from Chris?

  • I'm not sure Bangle is the type of guy who should go around questioning others design philosophies. Didn't he give up designing cars after his debacle at BMW?

  • this car blows

  • First was, born from jets, next is the swedes ice theme.

And now the mercury in wind tunnel form.

I'd like you, Mr Castriota, to revive the 9-3 Viggen! and none of this crap

  • c'mon guy's, honestly, who knows more about the auto industry than, bangle or castriota? I think bangle was being a douche, but hell, he has all the right in the world to interrogate a designer hardly even heard of before this tremendously odd concept. after he was essentially ran out of the auto industry, u'd think he'd have the right to ask a question like 'so u're gonna own that now?'

  • @pixID4

Castriota never heard off? He designed two Maserati, one Ferrari, one Pininfarina and one Rolls Royce..... man, let's get the facts right ...

  • @carloalberto64 Castriota designed them? After seeing this wreck of a concept, I doubt he had much creative control over either one of those cars. I've seen his work, I've just never heard of him, and quite frankly I don't care for his work much either. It's too fussy, and there's not enough sensitivity in any of his designs. The fact that this car looks the way it does, shows that he designs more for himself than for the sake of GOOD design. If he was good, he'd still be designing ferraris

  • Kudos to Jason Castriota, for having the balls to design a car this extreme. Love the flying buttresses or whatever he calls them, down force without the penalty of drag.

Chris Bangle really doesn't have much room to talk, after designing one of the ugliest cars of all time.

  • @GOPSUX100 asi es... no tiene cabida, ademas tiene un aire de sarcasmo en su tono despectivo,, que maluco es eso

  • I can't see why it's a SAAB Too...

And Bangle was one of the best designers of the last decade.

  • I can't see why it's a SAAB Too...

  • Hmm, who to side with? Like Switzerland, I'm remaining neutral.

  • Haha, it is aerodynamic. You got that. But what

makes it a Saab? Well, it seems Mr. Castriota forgot about the

Scandinavian design aesthetic. Where is the simplicity of form? Where

is the humanism? He got one part of Saab, and now it's time to address

    the rest.

  • Castriota handled himself very well. Well played sir.

  • bangle, you condescending mf, stfu.

  • Bangle's designs at BMW are the best BMW has ever had. Funny how now that he "LEFT" everyone is alright with the designs which carry over ALL of his design esthetics to this dae. The current Head of BMW design Hooydonk is responsible for the "BUTT" not Bangle.

In other news BMW sells more luxury cars in the U.S.A. than any other brand -guess only the ignorant loud mouth haters comment on youtubes.

  • This exchange is so great! Love the: "and so...why is it a SAAAAB?"

  • CB did not ruined the design for the past decade, without him you wouldnt have the e34.

Whether Bangle was strolling or trolling, I think he wanted to bring attention to SAAB.

As a lover of SAAB, i bid farewell long ago, still hasnt see its return.

  • Bangle is an arrogan prick. Jason should have belted him!!!

  • Chris Bangle should not criticize or question anyone. Seriously, this guy has ruined BMW design for the past decade. Only now they are starting to make good looking cars. BECAUSE THEY GOT RID OF BANGLE.

  • Bangle is a stupendous ass. his designs were the worst era in BMW, in my humble opinion.

  • Funny how that Butt carries his name since it was originally designed by Van Hooydonk, BMWs new design chief.

  • @phanchochan @phanchochan I though I was the only one out of the ignorant hate-filled ASSES on here that knew that fact.

  • Bangle = Douchebag

  • thats car designers for ya..lol

    Art Center at its best...

  • Wow, catty.

  • Very nice interaction there, both questioning and answering! :)

  • JC, you really got the best of Chriss Bangle there. Nice concept, cant wait to see the new 9.3!!!!!

  • I love when Castriota sarcastically mentioned "Butt" as he refers to Bangle-Butt... That was really a great joke between two controversial designers. Love the conversation.

  • @hadabenz

I prefer the face of Castriota after Bangle makes the question...

  • Chris Bangle F-ed up a real good brand, but the germans are getting back into form again... It's not for nothing germans say that they bangled their car after crashing into a rail or a tree...

  • Well done M. Bangle, lots of respect for you! Castriota finally getting some bollocking for fucking up designs...

Phoenix becomes the 3rd or 4th shit design in a row, after Mantide and 599 which are quite ugly...

Also nice to see he answers the question "why is it a SAAB" by saying it´s got liquid metal paint ahahah

  • Comment removed

  • @yotah1 Wait what now? I know it's your opinion and all, but I've never heard anyone say that the 599 is ugly. *still shocked* And the GranTourismo, SCC Ultimate Aero II or New Stratos? Look them up, those are absolutely gorgeous cars! All designed by mr Castriota.

  • @n0hhh 599 IS one of the WORST designer Ferraris ever... it is ugly... imho. Now, the GranTurismo I do agree that its a great looking car, the New Stratos too...
