  • Do they have the video of Malcolm X's daughter speaking at this funeral? I thought her speech was so moving.

  • Coretta would of been $hocked, had she known her eulogy were being held in a PEDOPHILES CHURCH! And had she known that 'Bishop' Eddy Long was being "DOWN LOW" to his wife & kids, i'm sure she would NOT of wanted her funeral being held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

  • check out the new MLK song "FULL JUSTICE" now on Youtube!!

  • Its such a travesty that this precious jewel funeral services were held at this man's church....of course I knew then what most know now..Eddie Long is a disgrace. Correta stood and fought for Gay Rights; she would have been appalled by his actions and the allegations against him. Thank God Bernice King has left this man church...!

  • Americas do not realize. The people sat in the front row are the ones responsible for killing Martin Luther King. Please realize they find it hilarious. They where their for the own redemption. Notice Geroge bush Sr. That man is responsible for the death of martin luther king. WAKE UP AMERICA.

  • @eggheadAKAspensley Does anyone know if Loretta Scott Kingfish still had her monkey tail or was it removed?

  • @kisharp96 normally you should ignore them. He is only here for the attention, using his pc as a white hood. Imagine, he is here arguing with the dead??!! If even the dead wont argue with him, then why should the living?! Gonna go eat some ice cream:) Life's magnificent!!! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. King!

  • @Princepurple1 <- troll

  • This is who our young women of today should follow,to be proud of their skin color and embrace their blackness,to be strong and confident, classy and most of all have respect.R.I.P my beautiful queen.

  • THANK YOU FOR BEING THE EXAMPLE OF A VIRTOUS WOMAN!!

  • truly sad, when persons who come to pay their respects to the person focus on politics. I would have asked them before the service to NOT talk politics, there is more shame in that than the family asking them to leave the service if they can not focus on the life of the loved one who has passed

  • I WENT THERE AND GUESS WHO ELSE WAS DER!! THE KKK!!! dey had up signs saying "im glad the king dream is dead"! i was wtf!! yall goign str8 to hell!! no if,and,or buts about! DATS MAKES ME SOOO MAD!!!!

  • Thank God in my lifetime, I was able to see her- it was backstage in Oakland California with Angela Davis and Bishop Yvette Flunder.

  • A funeral doesnt mean you to have cry or frown, it is to celebrate and reflect on the life of that particular person. RIP Mrs. Scott-King you fought a good fight and now may you rest until the day that Jesus shall rapture the rest of his church.

  • ~*wwhat were people talking about when they said our future president?*~2:40

  • these people are stupid laughing and smiling at a funeral..are you serious Clintons/Bush show some respect at least look sad sheesh

  • RIP MRS .KING

  • I love and respect Rev. Joseph, but when he start talking about his agenda on the war, I was very disappointed. In fact its very disrespectful promoting ones agenda on someones funeral.

  • I agree

  • @islanderws well she was somewhat a political figure....that why the presidents were there,i'm sure she didn't mind rev's comments

  • ...you've earned your rest...

  • amen..

  • They should have showed more on what her daughter was saying.. it was getting good

  • I agree

  • i saw the whole thing they were showing the funeral on tv and her casket was carried down the street from my house

    R.I.P corretta

  • What a beautiful casket spray!!! Wow!

  • when da audience member said dat..who was dey talkin about ?

  • Then Senator Hillary Rodham-Clinton.

  • sNICkErSluverr--The person was referring to then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

  • What a beautiful lady - A true first lady

  • This is very sad. But, she is home with her husband. She needs her rest after working so hard keeping her husbands dream alive Thanks, Mrs. King for you and your husbands help for changing this world. I am white and I have a black friend and I am appreciated to have him and we will forever be friends! Rest in gods hands with your wonderful husband Dr. King. We Shall never forget you!
  • This almost made me cry! Beautiful!

  • I met Mrs. King at a banquet over 20 yrs ago, and she was such a beautiful and gracious lady. I remember the conversation we had, and it felt so good to just sit with her even for a brief moment. RIP Mrs. King! You are sorely missed.

  • You are blessed!

  • Thank you! I felt honored to have spent a little time getting to know her just a little bit. I wish I had the opportunity to meet MLK Jr though. It would have been awesome!

  • I dint know ms.angelou could sing

  • President Bush (Elder) did a good job, but his manuscript got in the way and President Bill Clinton reminded us that she was women, & mother. Maya sounded like a real friend. It must have been hard for the family to be inclusive and share their mothers memory with so many different kinds of people.

  • so sad

  • i recently went to my family reunion and looked at my family tree and ancestry [the oldest person know to live in our family was a strong black woman who died in 1915!] and i discovered tht my great great grandpa's cousin is the father of coretta scott king.

i am TRULY HONORED BEYOND WORDS.....

R.I.P. THE BEAUTIFUL CORETTA SCOTT KING.

  • wow I cant believe this is funeral?...

  • I found it appalling that some of the politicians and so-called ministers used Mrs. King's funeral as an opportunity to promote their political agendas. If it were my mother's funeral, I would have stood up and stopped them and warned anyone else who was planning to speak that if they used my mother's funeral as a platform that they would be asked to leave immediately. Some who spoke were downright shameful! Jimmy Carter should be ashamed, as well as others.

  • You're right. This should be a celebration of life, not what everyone thinks about Bush.

  • Thanks for saying so. I still don't understand how seemingly intelligent, cultured people would have so little respect for the deceased and the family of the deceased that they would promote their agendas at someone's funeral. Ridiculously ill-mannered and distasteful. As someone elsed mentioned, they could hold a press conference for expressing their opinions about things, not at someone's funeral.

  • You betta sang Dr. Maya Angelou

  • stop posting rude stuff

  • I think the point for me would be as a person who has met Sister King, she would have never approved of the comments made at the presidents expense in a CHRISTIAN funeral service, she, was to much of a lady! Shame!

  • Jimmy Carter needs to be put in a nut house with many others on the cook ville of the democRATS:

  • Nice.

  • Former pres. Jim carter threw a break and told the turth and I love it!!~

  • Jesus, you can really see the pain in her eyes!!

  • Truth hurts, eh?

  • HOW DARE U! SHAME ON YOU!

  • People tend to be kind to those who are/were kind to them. Clintons sins are God's business--so is MINE and YOURS Johnnycane28

  • The focus here was equally on her life as well as that of her and her husband's important cause, and I would think Coretta herself would have invited some of that healthy, nonviolent dissent at her own funeral.

  • I can see how people would think it was disrespectful. But this wasn't just another woman laying there--this was the wife of one of the most important leaders of the twentieth century! A man who stood up for the rights of all, praised nonviolent dissent above all, and fought the good fight. he couldn't possibly have done this without Coretta's strength and support.

  • While i am not a big Bush fan it was 'disrespectful' imo, at a funeral for Mrs. King that it turned into a political show and a deep smackdown made by Rev. Lowery to a sitting President of the United States.

Rev. Lowery and others could have expressed his views at a press conference before or after the funeral. Rev. Lowery, Pres Carter, took attention away from the purpose of the event, celebrating the life of Coretta Scott King.

  • There's one angle I don't think gets talked about--and its the overall worship culture of Black churches. Our funerals aren't simple eulogy-and-solemn-remembrance ceremonies, they are more along the lines of regular church services with a casket.

It's that same unfamiliarity with Black worship IMO that's fueling the controversy about Obama's pastor, and why outcry has mostly come from whites. Not defending the comments, but there's style and context to consider with the rhetoric used.

  • Good point 94fordtaurus. That some "Black Church' Services can be little different than other traditional 'eulogy and rememberance' ceremonies of the Christian Church of all faiths. The media should have stressed this style of sermonies used here.

Still I thought this was supposed to a 'interfaith funeral' for Mrs. King as far as i was aware though. If that the case, I stand by oringal comments about Rev. Lowery toning it down at the services.

  • Wright said a number of things that he shouldn't have.

One of them though can not be brushed off as culutral differences.

  • @USAGiant I definitely was not a fan of George Bush, but this was sad! This was disrespectful to Mrs. King and she would have been appalled by Rev. Lowery taking pot shots at George Bush and making this political! I would not want anone makig this political if this was Pres. Obama! This was a celebratiion of her life and not a political event! This was about her work for civil rights and her carrying the torch after she lost her husband and raising her children on her own after she lost MLK!

  • this was abit disrespectful!!!

  • I still cannot understand what on earth Bush was doing there....

Conservatives now pretend to respect the Kings, but they really HATED them!!

  • itz called "Politics"

  • because he was the "president" at the time

  • @Ninure I know your comments were two years ago.....But if President Bush hadn't showed up he would've been "murdered" by the press. Second, Bush respected Dr. King and his wife legacy. Third, far right in the 60"s are different from conservatives of today. Many Conservatives of today were part of the Civil Rights Movement such as: Mitch McConnell, Fmr.Sen Mathias(MD), David Horowiz and many others who marched with Dr. King.
