When I was a kid. Maybe 7 or so I used to swim in my small pool with my turtles. It never hurt them. They were wild caught. Babies. I don't think it is very healthy for people to splash around in the pool with turtles. lol They carry diseases. But It never killed me, cause I'am leaving this message. lol

I found a turtle in the woods oen time anear a creek. Me and my cousin found it and he threw it in the water and it got swooped by the current (Small creek about 3-4 feet deep current not nearly strong enough for a human but extremely strong for a turtle) so i jumped in and saved it LOL

@sxc18 It is something that all reptiles carry. It it a disease that can give you food poison and you can die from it. That is why you need to wash your hands after holding a reptile. also here is something you probably dont know

Support the bottom of a turtles shell when holding it. (shell and legs) if not it will stretch its head back very far and stay there unless you support the bottom of its shell. And never touch its tell or it will hiss at you and will bite you.

@loserloserville and @sxc18 all reptiles have a risk of salmonella, its a bacteria that grows on their skin. its only dangerous if you have a weak immune system and u like carry them around in your mouth or something. just remember to wash your hands before and after you handle them.

the whole fear of turtles and salmonella came around when a buncha kids in some hick town put baby turtles in their mouths for fun. lil kids = weakened immune systems and a bunch of them got sick and some died.
