I think it just comes from being confident and growing up. I mean he didn't used to have it, I don't think. He was a bit dorky looking younger so... The weeping thing I admit is a bit girlie but at least he's confident enough to admit that and not being like the usual straight guy who won't admit to crying. Maybe the interview was written for him :P
