  • If the uploader (InstruMentalCase) has the full song, please upload it,it would be cool to see some of kelly!!1

  • what song has this solo?

  • The claim that technical players play with no emotion is premised upon some extremely fallacious logic. As David Mamet has said, there is nothing that we feel nothing about. The speed at which the notes are played corresponds directly to the emotion the player wishes to convey. The composition that is played slowly is no more emotionally compelling than the composition that is played fast.

    Just some food for thought.

  • he face same steve vai

  • check out my covered of Rusty's piece of Mind and City Of the dead ;)

    hope u enjoy it

  • We want some vids with Kelly!!!

    Come on....

  • Rusty is a hero riding in on a thundering horse named SHRED

  • mother of god is this a human in the video?

  • nope, its RUSTY COOLEY the only guy better then chuck norris (its possible right?)

  • what a crazy fucker

  • Awesome!!!

    Q) Why do morons say he plays with no feeling?!

    A) cuz they're morons!!!

  • RIGHT !!!!

  • It's because they associate "feel" with certain bends, timing shifts and slurs, which Rusty may not use. The fact is, a machine could render SRV solos perfectly, note for note and bend for bend, and the morons would say it had incredible feel.

  • outstanding

  • This is the never by outworld

  • of never heard rusty play this before... is it improve?

  • isn't that bass line the same as in plane x's ingnotus per ignotum?

  • God he is amazing not just fast but good like john petrucci

  • "practice make all perfect" its true...!

  • i love watching videos on youtube naked!

she is really beautiful. im prettier tho! aK

  • i like to get naked and watch videos too! XD

  • i perfer other sights to do that:)

  • rusty cooley owns

  • Personally I think Rusty's a bit of a genious, and can truly convey emotion through speed, at least in my opinion. It is realy up to the listener to discern feeling in music, so if you don't like it, fair enough but don't try to annoy everyone with derogatory comments.

  • thank god. common sense a rarity on the tube.

  • 9:00 --> end

    FTW!

  • >.>

    video?

  • I can play that fast too, its so easy. And i am also taking a cruise to CANDY LAND, where you burp when you fart, and fart when you burp.

  • damn I wish I had known about rustey cooley in 2006...

  • Good for you and 1000 other guitar players. Speed isn't everything, its just what you do with it.

  • I think Rusty Cooley is amazing, fast precise, and he plays a seven string guitar, 7 fucking strings. I only wish he played with a little bit more of a bassy sound, I just not a huge fan of that sytle, but he is still fucking amazing. rock on.

  • Dude stop the: Omg no feeling (damn i cant play this!) just all notes no melody (damn i still cant play this!) No sense of improvisation!(FUCK I WISH I COULD PLAY THIS!)

The funny thing is if its played fast, ppl like you always comment the same stuff, Its not like he can't play anything else its just a different music style and it's fucking melodic. Ppl who play slower but the same stuff are good and have feeling but when somebody plays it fast it is somehow not melodic and it are just notes?

  • wow, if you think this is all aeolian you could use a little lesson in theory.

  • its not aolian my mistake sry its phrygian....

  • It's fine. It's just that first off this isn't improv. These are some of the bands songs and there is plenty of harmonic minor and diminished ideas too. The man knows guitar technique inside and out. It bugs me that so many people rip on guys who are technique focused.

If you don't dig this stuff then why comment? That is all.

  • i was watching Shawn Lane videos and i saw one video named rusty talk about Shawn Lane....and i got to this

  • most parts phrygian dominant u dumb asshole...go to a school and get a life...maybe making phrygian aeolians macburgers will do better for u fuckin moron

  • didnt you see my comment after that stupid FAG!!!it mixed up the videos thats why i wrote aolian!you need 200-300 years to be on my lvl so fuck yourself anally!

  • of course theres no sense of improvisation, cause nothing here is improvised! there solo sections from his songs hahahaha

  • The song "The gray tide" sound much better live. I love the CD version, but hearing this version I have a double sensation. First I say "God this song is awesome" and then "¡Wow he can play that!". Rusty is the best.

  • Ah wtf i listen this like every day its so fucking amazing. Love how he can play fast and still so beautifull. I hate it when ppl search on Exercise videos of rusty and than comment them with AAH NO FEELING BAD SONG...

Rusty Cooley AND outworld fucking rule =D

  • Hey, It sounded like they copied Dream Theater, starting at 1:30

  • why are people saying you should do this or do that? it's up to the individual what they want to do. if they just want to shred, jst let them and dnt complain about it. if they want to play blues, that's kewl too. some people like instrumental music, some people like bands, some people like classical - every1's tastes are different. the gd thing is, tht even though rusty can shred his ass off, he'd rather be in a band and write MUSIC. tht has got to be worth something...

  • I think Rusty Cooley's technique is other worldly, and I have the utmost respect for his playing prowess, BUT some of his phrases and licks are just overly cheesy and corny. I just think Rusty spent too much time practicing technique instead of learning how to make beautiful music, which unfortunately can't be taught. Now Jason Becker is the ultimate combination of pure technique and musicianship, he could really make the guitar sing while at the same time playing impossible arppegio passages.

  • THE SHRED ITSELF

  • guitar from hell!! lol fuck yeah!!

  • I fully agree with bicmed88.

People say Malmsteen/Batio are arogant because they play fast and Batio names his songs speedkills or whatever. But there are SO many blues guitarist that tittle their songs: "I feel so bluesy today" or "I've got the blues in me". Like they have a kind of tunnelvission of one emotion...

  • I am an instrumental guitarist, and i think Rusty is outstanding. However i dont listen to much instrumental rock/jazz/fusion. I prefer to listen to bands. I spend alot of time practiceing techniquie, because i want to be able to play anything that i can imagine. If you want to play chordy songs around a campfire, do that! theres nothing wrong with that.I hate most...arrogant, cocky blues guitarists, who go on about how they have feel, but they just rip off cliche blues licks all night.

  • That make's totally NO sense lomoholga (well maybe al little but... First of all you don't WASTE time listening ANY type of music (except rap and top40 i hope we can all agree with that:P). And second you can ALWAYS learn how to play tears in heaven (beautifull song btw) but you can't pick up playing at this level anytime you want to.

Funny : pause the video, and scroll through the vid you will see in half of the cases that at that moment a flash of a photocamera will apear in the screen:P

  • shut the fuck up, rusty is musician with loads of feeling , he can play at an amazing speed does that makes him less musician, noooooo you moron just a faster guitarist, that is it. jajajaja what an asswhole, go fuck yourself, you know shit about music, jajajaja

  • This is great playing. HOWEVER to all the teenagers who obsess about technique and shred, and only listen to instrumental shred music: broaden your horizons. You will never get back the time you 'wasted' in listening only to one type of music. When you are surrounded by friends at a campfire and one of them pulls out a guitar and asks you to play because "you are the guitar player"-- what are you going to do? Play them goddamn Rusty Cooley solos? Search for Naudo. He is a musician.

  • yep it is goreous :)

  • nice hair.

  • Hey guys, did you know that 99.9% of the people who write comments like "Too fast, sounds like shit", "Shred isn't music", "Do you really need to play that fast?", "Speed sucks", Etc. Are desperate fighting against metronome to get really fast with no success.

  • haha very well said juan. people that were born to shred.. like this. people that were born to strum chords and sound like a douche dont.

all there is to it =] theyre jealous so they have to dis it. stupids =]

  • That has to be a Conklin Fanny (fret) Guitar!!! You got to admire his technique, he's covering a hell of a lot of neck, clean accurate picking, just has to be in the top three shredders world wide!

  • In my opinion, that's true. His technique is outstanding.

  • Truth is most people's brains don't work fast enough to keep up with him, plus it's the accuracy that puts him in the front row.

Even though this recording is poor he's bad ass kicking those notes right through your skull, clear as you like. ICE COOL GUY and as professional as you like !!!!!

  • songs on this video go..

    1. The Never

    2. Prelude To Madness

    3. The Grey Tide

    4. i Thenatos

    5. War Cry

    6. City Of The Dead

    Rusty Cooley OWNS!

  • Was this an Outworld show or just Rusty ?

  • Outworld

  • God, I love the technique and absolute mastery that Rusty plays with. He's a virtuoso in every sense.

But goddamn I hate neo-classial music!!!

    /sad

    /uselessminorkeystoplayin-incessantly.

  • Hey Bobby think maybe your keyboards were a bit loud. rusty needs to be louder, great show. :)

  • Hey people, whats the name of the very first tune he plays here.

  • The first song is the solo out of, 'The Never' :)

  • The day they announce a show in Chicago, I'm gonna nut my pants.

  • What song is it at 3:26 or so?

  • the song at 3:26 is called grey tide. It's off Outworld's cd Outworld. highly recommended if you like fast guitar. To everyone here who doesn't like fast guitar. WHY ARE YOU HERE!?!?!?

  • do you have footage of the whole concert? i would really like to see it with the vocals. thanks

  • i still dont get fanned frets. And i remember watching rusty a few years ago when he used to just to videos of him shredding and i thought he sucked, now im very glad to be proven wrong :)

  • Fanned frets are used to get better intonation and tension, as lower gauge strings need more tension, therefore the scale is longer on the bass side, and the inverse for lighter gauge strings.

  • if the frets were normal size, the small A string would snap thanks to the tension

  • The point is the human hand is actually designed to naturally fit a fan fret guitar unlike a regular neck; once you get used to an 'FF' you'll find your finger positioning comes much more easily; you can thank Ralph Novax for bringing that inovation with his 'so cool' stereo eight string; OK it's a Jazz guitar but put in some, hot Custom wound Wizzard UK PU's(the designs all totally ripped off by Bareknuckle UK incidently), and you can jam with Satin himself!!!

  • Sorry to tell you guys but, Shawn Lane would run circles around Rusty. If you want tasteful shred see Shawn Lane and Jimmy Herring.

  • too bad slash sucks

  • what ever you say bro.

  • yeah.. Or not..

  • Man, he's really awsome, no matter what people said about him, the only true thing is that his playing is the result of a lot of dedication and hard work, and his style is the style he likes, no more to say. My respect Mr. Cooley you're really awsome.

  • Hahah i totally agree with everythinkg juakavamo89 said.

  • The song he plays at 2:30 is called "Prelude to Madness" fucking great song from the fastest guitarist out there!!

  • which song he plays around 2:13? it's really good

  • Nope... I still don't get how he sounds like Yngwie. Not only is he faster, he's a shitload more accurate and he doesn't just f**k about with arpeggio's for hours like Yngwie, and has cool melodies... But hey Yngwie inspired him and countless others so on an inspirational level at least, Yngwie is pretty damn good I guess.

  • I believe in Rusty Cooley, Frank Gambale, and anyone who aspires to do great things on the instrument. Rusty represents an approach that has been around for years, but he's pushing the envelope further. Nothing he does is a real mystery, but he certainly plays it quick enough to awe inspire. A.P.B.

  • Rusty is the greatest shredder alive.

  • this a real video damn rusty is my drug fuk

  • guitarra bonita

  • Technically the best guitarist alive !!!!

And a fuckin awsome musician !!!!

  • I along with many others think the drummer is AWESOME! Outworld's new drummer is WAY better than there old drummers, his playing ability and stage presence is like NO OTHER! Don't critique the drummer on a FUCKING guitar SOLO video! The drummer is a 20 yr old prodigy from seattle, rusty said himself, that he is the BEST drummer he has ever played with in his career. Stop talking shit on the internet. You need to get laid. Enough said.

  • Anyone who says Rusty is bad has no respsect for real talent. He's the master of sweep picking.

  • I beg to differ. Frank Gambale is and always will be the greatest sweep picker of all time. For one thing he was basically the first to use it in this way and none of these 10 billion notes per second guys will ever be able to touch his musicality and cleanliness. But I will agree that there is no way anyone could argue that Rusty Cooley is bad.

  • Are you serious...?

  • AWESOME !!!

  • Why do you think the drummer sucks? could you do better? no? shut it. Hes the one playing for outworld. not you.

  • the drummer sucks.. but everyone else is pretty good.

  • my god

  • Great technique, but I would like to hear him play fusion. He sounds a lot like Yngwie Malmsteen but maybe not as melodic. He would impress me if he tried not to sound like Yngwie

  • what is the song at 05:43 ?

  • i think its called "War Cry"

  • yea its war cry i like the cd version so much better though.. have you picked it up yet?

  • yeah, i got it a while ago, its so fucking metal

  • That was kickass Dave!!

  • Damn! How in the hell did Rusty manage to put together a band that could keep up with him? O_o

Outworld is one of those rare dream team line ups. Top notch!

  • top 5 of all time tony macalpine, yngwie, rusty, geoge lynch, michael batio(tie) ryan fomato

  • this is the fastest playing ive ever heard , he makes malmsteen look like eric clapton

  • rusty is god!!!

  • i like some of the melodies he does and the rhythm tracks are cool but can't stand it when he goes off into a 3 min shred lick.. i think he will eventually mature out of that

  • The guitar is a Conklin 8 string sidewinder.. with a melted top. and fanned frets. they cost around $5000. that one was made especially for rusty.. and yes i have done my homework lol

  • Any idea what gauge the high A string is? It's gotta be about .008 - like a human hair!

  • yeh it is an .008

  • dude.. what kind of guitar is that? the frets are slanted.. and i think its over 24 frets..

  • It's an 8 String guitar.

  • Pt 2 - Personally I prefer the more melodic players, but you can't flaw Rusty for playing what he enjoys and doing it well just because it's not your bag. Give the guy a break. Appreciate the hours he must have put into his instrument to achieve his goals. If you wanna bitch about something, how about bitching about why there is so little great guitar in mainstream rock these days, and then do something about it. Long live the players who try to achive something more with their instrument.

  • Not to mention, if you really listen to Rusty's music long enough you'll hear a lot more than you thought was there.

  • Pt 1 - I've been checking out this list of Rusty Cooley vids, and the one thing I've noticed is that the comments on every one are a big argument about shred vs. soul or melody, whatever. Jesus people, can't you just take music for what it is, whatever it is? This guy can play, he's really fast, and pretty clean. I think that's what he digs. So it's cool by me.

  • rusty is insipring.. im hoping he can contribute to g3

  • fucking everybody who think that the Rusty's solos are awesome!!!! never you could play like him you're jealous!!!!

  • awesome sounds he make at 06:42

  • What is the song at 2:16.... it also plays during the menu on his basic training cd.

  • The song is "Prelude To Madness". The intro to the song he plays after it, "The Grey Tide"

  • u don't know anything about technical music if u were so u would know that even the players u mentionned above are big fans of rusty cooley playin' especially Petrucci and Tremontti (Alter Bridge)

Take a look at outworld website and read what petrucci and Tremontti had written about Cooley

  • ardjensan, you obviously dont have a musical cell in your body because if you did you would surely hear the awesome music Rusty plays especially in his solos. Given that i will say that some people just dont have a good enough ear to differentiate the different notes of his face melting solos, and so it sounds to them like just random notes played nonsensically. However if u can actually hear them the solos are extremely compelling.

  • excellent saying

  • \m/ \m/

  • When will you stop bitching about technical players?rusty is atrue inovator of the electric guitar. If you dont like it be a blues player

  • I'm only bitching about some specific players.

I actually love technical playing & I'm a speedfreak too!

Guys like Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Romeo, Steve Vai, Stephan Forté, John Petrucci, etc. are really technical & fast but their playing got soul too.

It's the sheer lack of musicality of guys like MAB, MM & RC that annoys me and makes them wanna-be guitarheroes in my opinion.

Well, at least they make me laugh and in the end it's all a matter of taste...

    just NOT mine!

  • Well i totally agree that those players have soul to their playing but you cant actually define or put labels about certain mucisians unless you have really dag into their compositions and their attitude.Anyway...Just let me know what you think about it

  • You make a huge mistake by bitching about a player because he has chops. It doesnt mean that he has no depth or feeling.Feeling can be alot of things. And yeah Andy is great but dont make those kind of conclusions cause its all WRONG!

  • cant find matew mills

  • yea i like andy timmons, i like this too, should be combined all in one, gonna get some albums of this guy

  • Hahahaha. He looks so much like Steve Vai for a while in this video. Cool as a fucking cucumber.

  • Michael Angelo Batio and Rusty should have a battle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rusty would end up owninf MAB's ass. He plays faster, makes better music, and has better hair :p

  • god damn it! they didnt show the song outworld...that was my favorite one (i was at the show)

  • Outworld will change how thing of metal! I am so fucking stoked!

Thanks, Dave B, for filming this!

  • I don't know what I was on that I actually said "Outworld will change how thing of metal", but I probably meant to say that Outworld will change how people think of metal.

  • Rusty has rescued shred.

  • that song is called Prelude, which introduces the next track called Greytide. I only know this because I am a big fan and I already have a copy of the CD.

  • whats the song with the gothic piano progression about 2 minutes into the vid?

  • Prelude to Madness

  • Outworld's awesome. I was at that concert too and got a shirt and a poster with all their signatures on it. :D

  • the one thing he needs to do though when hes live, is slooowww the fuck down for the sake of the rest of the band, hehehe

  • I witnessed that show, Outworld kicks ass! thank you DAve B. for filming this!

  • lol the end is hilarious :P

  • Yes, rusty at his finest
