  • Who's playing the drums, it's a double bass set of Gretsch, could it be Ginger Baker? Help, let me know.

Thanks for the sharing of this great video.

  • @cw605 the superior Mitch Mitchell

  • In my version of heaven, I'm at this show, but that kid has pants on

  • My God, man, they're all three of them gone........

  • Hendrix + Mitchell + Cox = The perfect power trio.

  • Hell Yeah... The kid at 0:06 has the IDEA!

  • The guy at 1:12 is DEFINITELY rolling a joint

  • the 7 assholes who disliked this video and other live hendrix videos should be thrown off the GWB

  • i remember the day Hendrix died.

    we lit fires and dropped.

  • Excellant surfer footage, but what I really wanted to see was Hendrix string bending and fret sliding.

  • Hay ,that's my 63 VW bus! What days!

  • Hendrix blew millions of minds

  • I have always loved Jimi's controlled reckless abandon that he played with if you know what I mean.

  • Cool footage.

  • You know what's funny... Jimi crapped on surfer music... and here's all this footage of surfers. He finally gave it to them didn't he?

  • @riverdale999 : seriously , on acid at the surf beach you will realized the awesome power of the sea and waves and then make the connection with the interplanetary qualities of Hendrix ,whilst skinning up, later on & listening to his music , man.

  • @QuinnTB ..." The quality of this footage isn't great." , But you can make it better by adding &fmt=18 at the end of the URL (or) &HD=1 on 480p video uploads.

  • i wonder if had JH not died we might have had less commercialism in the music industry nowadays...maybe if he had a chance to build an even greater legacy and achieved long-term mainstream popularity, musicians might have been more honest to what they actually believe is music. i think honesty to your own soul was fundamentally JH's message..

  • @MrSpanky87

fuck..... never thought about it that way

  • ewwww naked baby.

  • jep, Hero unit last. Mission Failed. Just like Red Alert :S

  • hey, im sorry people but i think god was obligated to take this man to heaven and rock the shit out of heaven i can't blame god for taking this dude to heaven he was amazing

  • praise the hendrix lix and trix....

  • R I P with guardians of trippyness and sweeties of the finest desires, please man find a way to blast todays music back in time, rest easy star, much love xx

  • THIS IS THE WAY I WANNA LIVE!!!!!

  • I Listen too the Alman Brothers to relax, The doors to crawl back into my mind, the Rolling Stones to rock, AND JIMI TO EXPLORE....

  • thankyou so much

  • I lived in Hawaii around this time. The Locals use to get drunk on Saturday, and called it Whip a Hippie Night. I was like twelve, and allI knew about Hippies was that they didn't take many baths, and were bumming around the Island, but I love Jimis Music

  • you know its gonna be a good concert when theres a dog and a naked baby at the beginning of the video

  • if i cant live this way i wanna die

  • JIMI AIN`T EVER DIED,BABY!

  • @FASTONE63 that's right, his soul and his music live on.

  • I dont like how mitch played the drums on this one. The original version is best!

  • @dogshit71 Mitch seemed pretty fucked up this show.

  • @Movienevermade I bet he was! LOL!

  • fuck me, jimi

  • its sad he died...

  • @iloveursis He was murdered. They say he choked on his own vomit, but he was found with a ton of wine in his lungs like he drowned in it.. and there was no alcohol in his bloodstream. No one talks about it.

  • @JoeyRec thus, his death.

  • Lay down some heavy blues in Hawaii, hell yes.

  • *****(5)*****

  • *****(5)*****

  • Never heard this before and I own Rainbow Bridge movie. This wasn't included in soundtrack. Greatest Guitarist that ever lived.

  • Whow...great, beautiful^^!

  • this country is crazy..n the peoople ae beautiful

  • hey parafleet you are right to the fullest man that is how it is though wonder how the fucher gen. are going to be

  • tatatata!!!!!!

  • i agree we certainly are lucky to view this. the funny thing is I never thought about it like that before but I would like to thank the people who shot it as well as thank you quintb for putting it up

  • This is more of the secondary footage that was shot independently by an art student I forget his name got permission to film from M.Jeffrey as long as he didn't use the actual live recording. That's the reason you have the overdubbed video over the actual footage. The first to surface years ago was the Message to love performance from BOG that was dubbed over the film.

  • Killer song, killer video

  • July 30, 1970 is this performance to be exact. Thanks for spreading more real Jimi footage. I love him but I hate sifting through everyone's homemade tributes with nothing new.

  • video cameras weren't the most common thing back the - we are lucky to be able to view this kind of thing !

  • Holy shit man

Can you see those Marshall stacks?

  • hell yeah

  • hendrix kicks asss!!

  • Damn hippies.

    Great guitarist though.

  • at least the hippies could party at a concert with their kids not having to worry like nowadays at some heavy metal or rap concert.

  • maybe thats why this generation likes to party?

  • nah, stuff got too negative. they went from talking about mental/spiritual liberation in the '60's to burning the world down and killing people with today's music. i'm not pulling for any generation. just seeing things as they are. live/love/laugh.

  • If Jimi were around today, he would burn a guitar hero guitar onstage...or maybe he would find a way to string it and come up with something good. Of course, why he would do that, when the best guitar makers in the world would be fighting each other to get a guitar to him is questionable. I think what he would say would be 'cmon, kid, lemme get you a real guitar.'

  • what?

  • Awesomw version really really nice

  • noel was a guitarist turned bassist

  • yh Noels opening band were call fat matress, but Jimi nicknamed them thin pillow

another reason for the breakup of the experience

  • jimi thought noel was crap anyway

  • Haha rich hippies on Maui in the 60s.

  • except it can be played on the first one....

  • its not on guitar hero 3 idiot its on guitar hero 1

  • I recognize some of those places in maui.

  • Ass munch

  • You can listen to different versions of Jimi's songs on Rhapsody.

  • who's the bassist? he's good, whoever he is....

what ever happened with Noel? I heard him and Jimi got into alot of fights..

  • thats mr billy cox on the bass

  • sweet

    from the band of gypsys?

  • noel was originally a guitar player so we ended up leaving and doing his own stuff, and thay did have a lot of disagreements before it just killed the original band.

  • yea he went 2 go with the fat mattrss which was a band athat he helped make and they ended up kicking him out

  • *fat mattress

  • whats going on in this video?

  • Mitch is so cool

I like forms to beat a drum

  • ... and yes, that's Mitch ... kinda looks like Jesus :p :D

  • ....... This was the last profesionally recorded and filmed concert of Jimi Hendrix in the United States of America !!!! The next day, Jimi Hendrix played his very last concert on American soil.

RESPECT for the one who put this film on ... W o W !!

    P E A C E and H A P P I N E S S to Ya ALLLL !!!!!

Netherlands (Holland), The Hague (Den Haag)

    GCK

  • Hendrix was sooo SUCCESFUL in this concert !! bad stage set-up and the vulcanic environment tributed to the poor recordings, that's all ... further this is VEEEEEERRYYY R A R E !!!! I don't know if this exists on a album or cd, you know..... the only thing I know is "The Rainbow Bridge Concert -- Both Shows" , this great album misses only a few songs as on this video shown "Spanish Castle Magic" and "Stone Free" ...

  • Is that Mitch? I can't tell.

  • hendrx knows he was unsucsessful at this concert

    good luck

    peace

  • this country is crazy..n the peoople ae beautiful

    good luck

  • no its jsut the 70s-80s

  • you're really dumb

  • um.. no it's like the late 60s.

hendrix died in 1970. therefore he couldn't perform this song live in the 70s nor the 80s.

    -lindseyann

  • ur stupid lady

  • because the concert was in Maui, Hawaii July 30th, 1970.

the guy fuckin died september 18 1970...

nor this nor that fuckin stupid lady..80s 90s mac dre eazy e???did they die too... befor the came back from the dead to play their last concert or are you just stupid no your "FACTS" before you post stupid shit like:

um.. no it's like the late 60s.

hendrix died in 1970. therefore he couldn't perform this song live in the 70s nor the 80s.

    -lindseyann

    hahahahaha youtube...

  • @lindseyXann

1970 is in the 1970's, therefore he played in the 70's

  • @IDontLiveTodayJH

Why are you commenting on an argument that happen almost 2 years ago?

  • @lindseyXann

    Well why not?

  • @IDontLiveTodayJH

Because the discussion was done with well over a year ago (almost 2 years ago). There is no need to bring it back up. And even though I still stand by what I said, I see no reason to continue.

  • Kids, the deal is that the film was about the "Rainbow Bridge Meditation Center" in upcountry Maui. It is an insanely bad/hilarious/remarkable/accurate/silly film, of itself. You can get it on Netflix. The concert (two shows) was filmed near Olinda. This was the first show. Those people carrying surfboards no doubt had to hitch-hike up the mounntain, carrying all their crap because that's how it was over there in those days. Ya had to be there I guess.

  • what a shame to have one of the greatest ever (Mitch Mitchel included) playing live, and we are dealt the the visual blow of looking at "surf bums" during a memorable song.

  • Here is a little bit of trivia. The surf spot where they are hanging out is Honalua Bay, a veritable world class big wave break on Maui. The Surf bums, I recognize are Leslie Potts, Jimmy Seline, Dale Fujimoto et al. A revolution from long to short boards on big waves. ALSO THESE were Jimmy hendrix's penultimate fans. This was Maui in late 60's early 70's and it is fitting they are featured. YOu might even see George Grenough if you look hard in the crowd.

  • thank you for the info on the surf dudes at the beach!

the footage of Jimi is from the underground film Strange Day On Maui. I synced up the footage with the soundboard audio of the show. It looks strange because the film looks strange too. there was only about two minutes of actual Jimi footage for this clip. I added the surfing stuff to fill in the blanks, and also because it was just plain cool. the surfing stuff was all from the original Rainbow Bridge film.

    Mike Parker

  • I like it.

A very famous surfer is also in your video,David Nuuhiwa:

"My favorite memory was making Rainbow Bridge, with Jimi Hendrix. I never surfed better, it was awesome to surf and be filmed and in the same movie with him and his music! Sit around and talk with him, what a gas!"

Look for the hands over the head when he drops in.

  • thx for posting, great video, despite it being adulterated by hippie surf

  • Notice that when he uses the wah , there is a terrible noise. You just could not mix a Fuzzface and a wah. I had a Fulltone RI and it is explained in the instructions. So it is historically true.

  • Thanks Man Rainbow Bridge Kicked ass

  • Hendrix had some terrible contract to film this movie. I don't know the story well but the original movie was lost or stolen and they did this slap it together film "Rainbow bridge". His management did not help Jimi. As is almost always true they were parasites and mafia thugs. In spite of this the genius of Jimi will never die! It all in you mind, don't think your mind on bad things, just float your mind around..look out!

  • next time they should film Jimi and not some beach bums on the water.

  • I thought the quality was great.

  • DNA Activation Accomplished

  • do you have any footage of him just walking around offstage

  • :-)

  • Great Thanx for postin
