check out my list of inspirational/meaningful quotations from The Witch of Portobello on hubpages.com. It is titled, "Inspiring Quotations from Paulo Coelho's The Witch of Portobello"!
Thankyou Paulo, for writing in such a sensitive way, from your heart. It's so easy to connect with many of the characters in your books and feel compassion, encouragement and in some cases, less alone in our experiences or situations. A great read, I enjoyed this book too! With Gratitude and Love! Blessings xo
I loved that book. It scared me a bit in the beginning but I related to it more as I went along...something like that to inspire such feelings really make it a powerful book
I always told people I was an avid reader...but that was before, and now I really spend time on the computer more...I just recently read "The Alchemist"...and thanks to that, I'm a reader again :D
Paul Coelho is a genius. He inspires me to become a writer. :)
I'm sorry for you. If this shit books enough for you brain, i think you have 40 IQ point.
This man is a zero. He could not write a book, he steal thoughts from other writers, and the message is zero. Everybody could realize this thougths ad the age of 20...
@erdly well at-least he has some decent thoughts to show dear! but u ignorant throw don the bag of greasy chips you're holding & learn to think before calling a genius a "zero" but maybe because you ARE zero & worthless you do know the true meaning of it :)
@erdly I don't know where do you get the urge to judge and put the man down. it's not like he is trying to prove anything, he always says that he writes to himself to explore himself. And why not publish his writings if so many people in the world love and enjoy his writings, blame the people for loving "shitty" books. Some people think only complex, intelectual, deep and dificult style is worthy, but original people always write in simple words.
We should talk about religious matters with care ,and respect. After going back to the origins of these religions we will find out that they are not a production of mans' fiction ,so we should respect the wisdom _beyond our imagination_ of God. And I don't find the institution theme part of the religions ,it's merely act of humans. Religions are in the hearts.
If you do not understand the way he writes , come back to them at a different time, years months or weeks later, whenever you are drawn to them. You will have a different perspective based on life experiences. Most who understand his works feel like they come to them when they are relevant to ones life.
I am reading this now, it's a beautiful....I love the way Paolo writes, it feels like fate that i have stumbled across his works now and i understand them. Before when there was hype on "the Alchemist' i didn't really delve much from the book.
Then i read Brida and i have been engrossed with his works....Great answers he is giving here
The Witch of portobello is a story that is simple yet complex in how the characters developes as the story progress. so excellently written. Only coelho could do that.
WOW!!! I just finished this book no more than 15 minutes ago. What an amazing gift this man has. Thank you so much for sharing it with the world!! I recommend anyone who enjoyed this book check out "The Celestine Phrophecy". It is also life changing literature.
On a diffrent note, I am of direct gypsy decent. My family line quickly diminished after moving to this country, and I struggle daily to find my identity.
He is a terrible author. There is a saying here in Brasil:"Paulo Coelho is not literature".If you knew half of the guy he is,you would know he is a coward(got his girlfriend at the time to be torture by the regime),a terrible person(his long time friend singer Raul Seixas, which a recommend you hearing because he is awesome, was eating of the trash while he was buying a mansion in France,a satanist, and tried to kill his wife once.
You could use Arabian music, specifically "ayub" or "derbakeh". It's mostly drums, so it's fantastic. Gypsy music also works. African drums too. Search for ethnic stuff.
You should hear Raul Seixas. He was the most awesome brazilian singer ever.Paulo Coelho was his friend until he stabbed him in the back, but thats another story. His best song in my opinion is "Raul Seixa eu também vou reclamar".Copy, paste and sarche in youtube. And passe it around, brazilian music is not just samba you know.Answer back if you liked it.
i just finished reading the book today, and i agree that his books can change lives or inspire people to think differently about things that they took for granted, things like religion. i thought it was about time that someone wrote about an other side of religion and not just the view of the church. this book changed how i thought of religion before, which wasnt in any way good.
some brazilian people that consider themselves "gods" of literature, criticize him cuz of the way that he writes his books, they say that´s not literature, that he´s not even a writer...
I also think most critics (movies, literature, music) are silly people trying to show to the world they are so cult and they know so much. Art is supposed to reach people, and that is exactly what Paulo does throug his art. The use of adjectives, nouns, etc....leave that to school teachers and dumbass intellectuals.
Paulo coelho é muito bom....embora seja um bocado vá lá espíritual a mais e embora aqui o nosso amigo ponha a meu ver paragrafos desnecessários e com ideias repetidas.
What an embarrassment when critics ask writers "Why?". Its like asking a musician "Why?" or even like asking a 4 year old child "Why?". I think that in all three cases, all three people will answer "Why not?".
To cut it short, what's the issue you have with my comment? Does Paulo give all the answers you seek, or show you the way to find those answers, if you do seek any?
