I heard from one of the original garage band collectors that there was a flea market in LA in the 80's where he found 5 of these picture sleeves, but had never heard of the band so he only bought one of them. Now worth over $1000 each with sleeve.
Voices Green And Purple - The Bees [Los Angeles, California] - 1966 - "This one song will ALWAYS put The Bees in the pantheon of garage milestones. Sounds like he's on a BAD TRIP. " - Trash Box Set : Wild Psychotic Garage Punk!!! (Disc 2) (Hit)-1996. NOTE: This one song will always put The Bees in the pantheon of garage milestones.
@Noodles37UK Don't lump that late 60s hippie shit in with this- the bees had nothing to do with a buncha drugged sheep sitting in the mud at woodstock listening to the Dead noodle.
@lakeviewviking Aye. I've since reaised that as someone who takes a bath daily, I wouldn't really take to Woodstock too well, seeing as I'm such a fag.
@lakeviewviking you seem to know more about the bees than anybody else from what i can find. please share what they were really about then, being the leading authority on the subject
This song is excellent. I love how people who like older music love to dump on current music...but without actually listening to it, or only hearing popular stuff on the radio. There's so much good stuff out there! It's just not obvious - but then neither were the bees!

@vaginacockalitis RE: "Help the mentally retarded". If your referring to this song I can understand :-): Spazz - The Elastik Band [Belmont, California] - 1967 - "First RAP song? One of the more bizarre non-PC garage songs. Nice guitar riffs drum work. I guarantee You will laugh and smile every time you hear this song." - Pebbles Vol. 01: Various Misfits (AIP)-1992.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...couldn't describe it any better - I used to play this track every year on WMBR for my "Halloween special" show. This is in the same rarified air as the Third Bardo, "I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time", also the Lollipope Shoppe. The magazine pictured is ultra-cool, all about mid-sixties California garage groups.
Thanks Doc.

Can't stop marvelling at the culture contrast between John Wayne early 50s and Peter Fonda late 60s. All that freedom of expression and color.

@CornyPoopDude Yeah, I am pretty great.

One of the most demented garage punk singles to come out of the '60s! The freak out sections were years ahead of time, almost presaging noise rock.

These guys were from my hometown -- Covina, CA. I can only imagine that this is what happens to you on a really bad trip.

60's punk is the best!!!
Keep digging in the tombs and you never have to listen the GARBAGE that passes for music nowadays.
