@immensecat haha i'm swiss and we speak german here :D. the text is made out of a famous german "bedtimestory" for children from 1890. in this story, a girl is told by his parents not to touch the matches. she doesn't listen and burns herself to ash. only the two cats can see the desaster and cry heartbreaking sad and the girl dies (aus der asche ganz allein, steig ich auf zum sonnenschein - out of the ash, i ascend towards golden sunshine). in original, the story wanted to shock little kids :D

@florinfetesti Seeing as it appears you are learning German, here are a couple tips for you: When you conjugate können for the subject du, it becomes kannst, not konntest, (Those pesky modals are horribly irregular) In this instance, kenne should actually be weiß (which is wissen conjugated for ich, also an irregular verb), the verb kennen, while it IS "to know" in English, in German it means more along the lines of "to be familiar with" and is used with things such as people and places
