  • not bashin The Carter Family by no means, but this has to be the very best version of Wildwood Flower ever performed, the banjo pickin is amazing. i love it, could listen to this over and over and never get tired of it. RIP Keith Whitley

  • Who picks the banjo on this?

  • Did Mother Mabel proud! What a great rendition.

  • @monizzle22 They sure did - brilliant for such youngsters.

  • This is really good but it sounds like earl scruggs

  • @Master100Mind Quite a compliment to the young boys who did this all those years ago!

  • @Master100Mind Conversely, if it sounds like Earl Scruggs, then it is really good. :-)

  • @Master100Mind Yep. If it sounds like Earl Scruggs, it's good. Mighty good. :)

  • i cannot find the tabs for this version any where think it is one of the best versions of wild wood flower aside from mother maybelle. I any one knows where i can get ahold of this sheet music i will greaty appreciate you forever

  • I think that country music needs a good shot of this today. I've stopped watching CMT because they don't play real classics. The "classics" they play are songs that are no more than 20 years old. What happened to the old Hee-Haw videos of Conway Twitty and Charlie Pride? How about some old Hank? Merle Haggard? Keith Whitley? Don Williams? King George I (Mr. Jones)? Early George Strait? They don't even play old rock (or any music for that matter) on MTV. It's called Music Television for a reason.

  • Yeah, it's very annoying when radio or tv companies play what THEY think is what WE want to listen to and get it so wrong!

  • @wmckinley2002 no shit. i agree one hundred percent whole heartedly. Im 19 and hardly anyone i know likes anything like this. This song really touches on the cross roads of country and bluegrass much like most all the songs on heehaw and old radio. Those days are gone tho when george sang who's gonna fill thier shoes the answer was not a soul. country music lived a good long while if u ask me. 1920-1995

  • Thanks for posting this its one of my favorites.

  • You're welcome Debbie!

  • To think--2 16-year-olds picking this out. You just knew they were heading for bigger and better things. This sounds like it was ripped directly from the vinyl record! I have this album on vinyl and CD.

  • Yes They both made it right to the top!

And you're right it's from my original vinyl LP.
