I just sold my LX200GPS (10") recently. It never ceases to amaze me how much money we're willing to spend just to make a tiny pinprick of light in the sky a little bigger so it becomes a slightly larger fuzzy BB in the sky. Meanwhile, incredible pix from the Hubble are all over the internet for free.
My next scope is a 12", but I'm going with an Orion XT12 this time. 1/4 of the price, 50% more light, and one guy can set it up with ease. Oh, and no more dragging car batteries around.
I totally agree. We are willing to pay a lot just to see a dot with a bgger magnification. But it's at the same time very cool to see the the things Hubble sees with your own eyes.
meh, i wont be able to afford such a telescope for quite a long while...
=P have fun
