@duff1098 what many people don't know is that blizzard and diary were actually written around the same time. Randy really liked the solo and thought it fit well in both songs (with some changes made in tuning, tempo, and scales used). Ozzy released the diary album a year later so they wouldn't conflict with eachother and they pretty much toured after 1980 with the songs they had written.
@diorhomme I'm almost positive I've read on a few occasions that this section of the solo was a remake or tribute, if u will, to the Crowley solo, as desired by Randy...
@betterthananyoneelse lol... k. and you're better than anyone else right? Fuck off you Napoleon Dynamite looking faggot. You should kill yourself as well.
@drummerjdb wtf does napoleon have to do with anything? I was just commenting on the fact that you said "kill yourself" to someone who obviously was having a great time playing a great song and why people like you are the reason rock is dying out.
you could order it online i got a tab book with all the songs from blizzard of ozz and diary of a mad. i got it at sam ash they have alot of tab books go there
This was a great attempt, but I'm like everyone else, i'm a Randy Rhoads perfectionist. You need to listen to the parts from 0:32 to 0:38 again and really try to get it the way Randy had it b/c he was doing a lot more than just back and forth on two notes...
Your right! And you might be playing it right I really can't tell. It just looks like your stretching further than what is really needed thats all. If it sounds right who cares right? Take care keep shredding
I'm not knocking your playing or anything Im just trying to help. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to Randy solo's and playing. Randy's style was very unique but it was very limited. He didn't change much. He recycled riffs and runs in all of his songs just like Believer and Mr. Crowley with that run at the end. He loved that run. Loved it enough that it was his warm up routine. The run is in F# dude.
The book I have is officially licensed. So it wouldn't be put out if it wasn't correct BUT I dont go on tabs alone. But that run at the end is in F#. That scale was Randy's favorite warm up scale from which he utilized in this song and in Mr. Crowley as well. They are almost identical actually. Slowing a cd down changes pitch. I dont care if its the best training machine ever, the pitch does change. Besides starting that run in G wouldn't be correct as far as the Key for the song and the solo.
my program does not change pitch when you slow it down. because i practice with it, and its all in tune at a slow speed.
he may have intended to start that run on the f#, if you take 2 minutes to slow it down you'll hear how sloppy he started that lick. it was double tracked uncleanly and there is a messy slide due to the position shift.
the important part about that last run is hitting the a note on the upbeat. to sound like the cd you have to slide into it.
you should also know randy only recycled most of his solo licks due to limited time in the studio. ozzy wasn't gracious enough to let him have tons of time to record what he wanted. if you listen to the live solo, it is totally different. he didnt intentionally track the same solos, he had to lay something down and be done with it. so he played licks he was really good at.
Do you think you could do a video on here slowing it down. Like you said , there is nowhere on here to find this lesson... and you have it down perfect.
maybe man, a lot of people like this solo. it was quite interesting to learn it. and lots of people play it wrong. we'll see, if i get a few more requests for this then i'll probably do a lesson.
Not to bad. You are correct on the no accurate tabs part. Fortunately for me I have the actual Diary book and i mean for the most part you got the tab correct. The run at the end was a little off by what I could tell from your fret hand. The reach in that run isn't as far as it looked like you were making it out to be. That run at the end is so fucking killer. If you would like message me and Ill tab that run out for you the correct way that it is on the cd. Not bad just clean it up a bit.
Nice! Now do you wanna learn the tribute solo? :D
