  • compared to the laser crapb - for 20 odd quid - its not that bad - theeffects are quite good - what do you expect for £20

    nice vid

  • dpss? diode pumped solid state

what does that mean in lasers

  • The "diode" part of DPSS refers to the pump light source. In the case of a DPSS greenie, it is an infared diode.

The SS (solid state) simply means that the lasing material (cavity) is composed of nifty crystals and not a gas mixture like one would find in an argon or helium-neon laser.

  • so does the DPSS laser appear brighter than regular lasers?

  • "Brightness" of a laser is something of a subjective thing. The majority of what makes a laser beam visible is the output power (generally measured in milliwatts [mW]).

One will also find, however, that when comparing visibility of a green laser of equal output power to say, a red laser, that the green laser light will appear "brighter". This is because the human eye is more sensitive to green light than it is to other wavelengths.

  • cool!! i wanna play too!

  • these are fun to play around with, especially if you build them into a gun. i did that once and people thought it was neat that I could project a laser anywhere

  • or you could just get a laser pointer...

  • i got one of these but in a red , beam , its called the laser crab,

it reacts to music , if u sit it on a speaker it rocks out wickedly, combine it with a small mirror ball .smoke machine, and u can transform a party dance floor

  • good for night clubs and shit :D

  • Nice...

  • you built it yourself? how?

  • these are fun, yes?
