  • god hes cute

  • Very well argued!

  • I don't agree with all you say, but I respect your right to your opinion. Although I don't agree with gay marriage, I would support civil unions. A civil union would give same-sex couples the rights of a marriage, without the church aspect of it. The church aspect is where most of the opposition comes from. I believe that a lot of people opposed to gay marriage would compromise with allowing civil unions. Nobody would get everything they want, but both sides could meet in the middle.

  • I don't agree with everything you said, but I completely respect you for articulating your thoughts in such a gentle, non-threatening way.

I wish more people would understand that not everyone holds the same opinion, and that hateful, angry rants don't do anybody any good.

Subscribing to your videos now--I really look forward to hearing more of what you have to say. :)

  • I don't agree with everything you said, but I entirely respect you for the way you articulated your thoughts about this. I wish more people would just say how they feel with an understanding that not everyone shares the some opinion--and by knowing that would express it in a way that is not hateful.

Subscribing--I look forward to hearing more of what you think. :)

  • will you marry marry?

  • hmmm..gay people are quit clever

  • Yeah clearly every single gay person is intelligent? Because liking someone of the same sex makes you automatically clever just because you see one dude with brains.

  • I agree. See Stereotypes can be good... I guess.

  • I dont think its good, its still stereotyping people because of who they fancy, even if its a good thing its still presuming something from your sexuality. Which is making the word gay mean more than just your sexuality which it really isnt, being gay shouldnt have to define like who you are it should just be a part of it, if you get me...

  • I was kidding. Stereotypes aren't so great. But if they want to think we are smart because we gay, that's not so bad.

  • Fair enough (:

  • yup, it does XD

  • your cute....

  • Why do people want to marry anyway? It's something I simply cannot understand the necessity for. I believe love should be a strong enough bond between two human beings, especially if that bond includes children. Knowing the foundation upon which religion is built I find it even more difficult to understand as to why anyone might follow a christian god or any specific god for that matter.

However, my beliefs aside I will do all I can to encourage equality within society.

    love, peace, freedom

  • Good, I thought I was the only person who thought this.

  • im soooooo glad that there able to marry here in britain, but its still fairly new. I agree with you whole heartedly, people should have the right to take the next step in there relationship and commit their lives to each other no matter what gender their partner is.

People have some of the same view on gays and lesbians now as most used to have on women. Their people to!

  • I don't agree with you, but this was a nice, well-thought-out video. Great job! :)

  • Your video was amazing,

I live in canada, but i feel for the people who arent allowed to be married no matter of love,

Other states need ot open their minds, in certain states if yuo walk out of your house and are gay, or homosexual, you can be shot and kiled, peoples belifs arent open to new things, even though they marry within their families.

  • A big step backwards for America, and the world. Just as Obama was elected as well...

  • Our country is SUPPOSED to be based on a SEPARATION of church and state. I don't care if you're religious, I'm religious, too! But that doesn't mean I don't support love. And people can be religious and still be gay. Gosh.

  • Male .. Female.. Gay .. Straight everyone should have the same laws!! It's just plain unfair.

  • fuck religion.. long live to our beer!! =) ahahha oooorrr... bier bier über alles... über alles in der welt hahha

  • Can someone point out the bit in the Bible where it says that women are independent, slaves are unacceptable, and animals should never be sacrificed?

Gay people never read the Bible? False. I like the same sex, and I am a Christian who has read the Bible.

Trend? Being homosexual is not a trend or a choice; it's the way people are. When did you decide to be straight?

People who don't know their facts before making judgements are pathetic.

  • Yes Gay people are obviously pathetic?

What about gay doctors who save peoples lives

What about gay soldiers who fight for their country

    What about gay firemen/police men?

Yes Gay people are obviously pathetic.

You know what? I think your views are pathetic.

  • Marriage is not "only for people who worship God and his teachings", you blithering idiot! Are you suggesting Atheists don't marry?

And where did you get 'most gay people never read the bible' from? I doubt religious trends in homosexuals are much different to religious trends in heterosexuals.

Stop placing your opinion of what's rights wrong on some old, severely out of date book and start thinking for yourself.

You're not in the position to call anything pathetic but yourself.

  • well im not american and im not that big on them or america.not coz i just dont like em i just dont know much about it and they seem everywhere :D

but i agree with you on some extent gays should be able to marry but with that will it just cause more problems for thos who are so strongly agest it? you shouldnt be told you cant marry coz of ur sex its stupid but it will cause a steam when gays be marry to some people.

  • Our country was founded on separation of Church and state--therefore, what is or isn't a "sin" as you put it, is irrelevant. What /is/ relevant is the protection of rights and equality for all U.S. citizens. You may still have your Bible, but it should have no bearing on a state's constitution.

  • churches should have the right to not allow gay marriages in their church. and gay people should have the right to be married.

  • Tell me the bit in the bible where it say that same sex people can marry?

  • it is possible he just has a script in front of him, so he doesn't repeat himself.

    which is a good idea.

    keep itt up mongoose.

    wolf-london.

  • nice shirt. but does this mean you're gay? or you just have a lot of opinions? cos there's a load of homophobes commenting.

  • i totally agree. you rock XD

  • you sound like napolian dynamite

  • I have read lots of these comments and I just can't understand where all the hatred is coming from. Both sides are as bad as each other: glorifying their own opinion and attacking the other. Why can't we try a bit of understanding no matter what our religion or sexuality? The only thing insults and accusations create is more insults and accusations. Put aside your anger and discuss it calmly like the young man in this video.

  • a very valid point if this motion was passed it would be a regressional step. Im thinking of when black people or women had different rights to white people or men THIS IS THE SAME! if you have what it takes to make a marrige work then why the fuck cant it be called marrige just because you gay even us prodish brits have civil partnerships ok called soemthing differetn but legall the same thing. ps. to all the gay bashers homophobic = uneducated. (im getting married nxt year [but not to a guy])

  • Don't mean to argue but... let's be honest, do you really think he could remember all that of the top of his head? could you? He's written it out on a word document, and we would expect this so he can lay down his arguement smoothly... Dont make such unfounded critisim in the future. And i completely argree with you man.

  • Just because he's reading it so that we may all understand doesn't mean he's not smart. Obviously, he's intelligent enough to know that some of us would want specifics and he wanted to say the right thing. I think he seems very smart.

Then again, I wouldn't really take a whole lot of comfort from someone who can't use punctuation and just randomly calls people idiots.

  • lol ur smart n hott lol ohhh and there are some dumb arse comment on here from hillbillies hahaha GAY PPLZ RULE!!!!!!!!!

  • Shut up already!

  • omg this guy is so so so funny, one for personality of the year, i just love this guy 10/10 total

  • I agree. Are you gay?

  • lol

  • i didnt understand a word that u said XD

  • Surely a better solution would be vows that homosexual couples could take that gave them the same rights as married couples but did not carry with it the religious connotations?????

  • Yeh that is stupid that same sex couples should not get the same rights as heterosexual couples! However as far as marriage is concerned is that not a religious ceremony in which a man a woman should be wed? And why would a homosexual couple want to be part of a tradition that actively discriminates against them???

  • wow that sucks! people are people gay or straight and we all have rights!

  • I know! It's outrageous how those ignorant people make it look like gay couples are incapable of raising children, because that's their selling point (according to what they think).

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! dude.. yawn, americans r hawt (not really) but wtf?!

  • this totally sucks tbh,the fact that the world has come to a point that when a load of people think one way and the rest another,it becomes such a massive conflict giving us more to fight about. When in then end,the people that don't want same sex marriage to be legal are the people that have won. when the feelings of others who want to get married to someone of the same sex end up not even being counted. why should people be denied something that they want when it doesn't harm anybody?

    GreatVid

  • well said nick

  • you feel strongly about this because your gay, it's OK i can tell, BTW do you still put black nail vanish on.

  • Well said!

  • I agree.

    You're brilliant :)

  • 0:30 - 0:43

"Now proponents of Prop 8 would include many Republican Senators and the Mormon Church. These people believe that their personal affirmations on what marriage is should be applied to everyone, regardless of their personal affirmations or beliefs,".

In the above comment, I state that, "You telling me what to vote for is enforcing the exact thing that you oppose,". This is you also telling me what to vote for, the same way we are telling gays they cannot marry. If unclear, reply.

  • Yes, but you still have the choice to vote whichever way you wish. However, when the law was passed... gays do not have the choice of getting married.

  • Why don't they move to Massachusetts? Then come back.

  • 's not the same as getting married in California.... simple as that.

  • Except for the fact that

    a. you can't "choose" to be gay-

    b. if they either don't have the money to travel, have already made a successful living here, or have lived in California their whole lives, why should they go to Massachusetts?

  • you don't decide to be gay!!! it's not a choice it' just the way some people are born!

  • Yes you do. They can choose to feel whatever way they want. It's their choice to get married to the same sex. You can like someone else, but also get married to someone else.

  • Now I'm not homophobic as I'm bi-sexual but, I don't believe it's something people are born with but more the outcome of our upbringing and imbalanced hormones. This is what I believe anyway. But is still something we as individuals do not decide upon. I hope this makes sense as I am TIRED haha!

  • No, there is a scientific study published recently about male homosexuality. The level of testosterone was decreased in newborn mice, at some certain time/stage after birth, and they ended up gay. It is hypothesized that a combination of antibodies from a mother who carries her male child attacks the hormones thereby reducing its levels and turning the child gay while it is still developing in the womb.

  • Reduced testosterone levels is a very likely to result in homosexuality. But not all homosexuals fit this case. So it's not correct to say people are born homosexuals. Yes some arguably are, but not all. I also did mention an inbalance in hormones. Someone with inbalanced hormones may not have had this imbalance for all their lives.

  • yeh, that kinda makes sense but i'm gonna stick to my belief that one's just born that way. i don't choose to be attracted to guys, i just am. i think that's the same for homosexuals.

  • I'm gathering your straight, Joeysic66? When was it exactly that you decided you were straight? Further, would you be capable of changing your sexuality?

  • Joeysic66, You did not even attempt to answer my question...when was it exactly that you made the conscious choice to be straight instead of gay? By proposing gays chose to be that way, you propose there is a choice involved in sexuality. If you were born straight, then do you not also acknowledge the idea someone could be another way? If you refuse to accept that, your argument is invalid. And you ignorant. I don't like paying games of name calling, but seriously..think about it.

  • I never made the choice to be straight. The chemicals in my brain dictated so, whatever they may be. All males have the same chemicals for the most part. OF COURSE someone else can be different, but since when MUST they be born that way? I'm ignorant because I'm normal? K.

  • You fail at life. Your simplistic reduction would be ludicrous if it were not to be considered as serious. You have failed to recognize even the most basic elements of human psychology; people are cultivated by both their genes AND experiences (e.g. if you have the gene for left-handedness, you may or may not become left-handed--DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A CHOICE!) The quote-on-quote "gay gene" has greater influence than the left-handedness gene too, BTW. There is no "normal" in thriving evolution.

  • 1:40 - 1:45

"Regardless of your support or opposition to gay marriage, I urge everyone to vote no on the Californian Marriage Protection Act,".

You telling me what to vote for is enforcing the exact thing that you oppose. I will explain in the following comment.

  • I couldn't agree more! Nice to see SOME PEOPLE don't have a head up there ass!

  • No. Just... no.

  • my dickhead friend just wrote that....

  • wow this video sucks i dont care about california, and america was founded out of colonial wars between the french and british

  • Burnafatty, you're obviously a stupid little right-winger, who doesn't have a fucking clue. I'm from England and know that it was passed. Do you know who your President Elect is until January 20th, or do I need to fill you in on that too?

And dude, I like your videos, you're clever and a good speaker :).

  • yur eyethur wit us or again us! hah, hicks!

in Canada here, and it was determined unconstitutional to deny same-sex marriage here.Remember the adage:'separate church from state'? I don't care if someone decides they want a ceremony and a piece of paper saying they're spouses. If a same sex couple can make their marriage last, more power to them, because there's a huge number of heterosexual couples that can't make it work.

It's up to the churches if they decide to marry a gay couple or not.

  • wow thts alot of talking

  • ok.. this shit is fuked up.. y do u care about california if u live in scotland? ? aye! lol.. G A Y !!!!!!!!!

  • Dude. He's a US Citizen.

  • y do you speak in american when ur from U.K.

  • wow! i dont understand half da tings ur sayin! lolz!

  • im crap at spelling

  • just coz im against gays doesnt meen im religeouse so dont go making a load of crap about me. and if people are entitled to there own opinion then y arent i. so dont go thinking that im jsut some ponsy british preacher im just a normal guy like you and me. so if ur gonna waste ur time defending people who should really rethink there lives think how u couls be spending ur time. u gay or sumin

  • Marriage is recognized as a formal union between a man and a woman under God and has been this way throughout human history since its inception. If you aren't religious then why do you want to take part in what is essentially a religious ceremony? "the freedom to practice one group's beliefs without another group's beliefs being forced upon them"?. I agree, this value is being threatened by you people imposing your homosexuality upon the sanctity of marriage. You have your civil unions, be happy

  • just because your homosexual doesnt stop you from being a christian thats the most confusing thing i have ever heard

and if you are a christian no matter what your sexuality you should be aloud to marry

you get straight couples who arent christian marrying so your arguement really is null and void

  • And you have rules and instructions written thousands of years ago by men that were high on some drug they called "Holy Spirit". Go you! ^_^

  • actually, Clestafarian, marriage existed before the christian religion and doesn't necessarily have a religious basis, depending on what country you are looking at.

if two homosexual people wish to be married, it doesn't threaten you or your values in any way... it's just two people wishing to express a loving bond between them in a tangible (and legal) fashion.

by preventing people from doing this, you would be forcing your views upon them. by allowing them to marry, there is no conflict.

  • Marriage by the state is defined as a union of two, not any part in any religion. Marriage that is acknowledged by the state is purely non-religious, non-spiritual, tax-union. Making religion a factor in a federal issue is a direct violation of separation of church and state, Marriage is not a religious union, nor will it ever be, if it was, you wouldn't involve your government.

  • "Marriage is not a religious union"

Maybe not for you. But maybe for the millions of people with religious beliefs around the world. Maybe because of the vows you are taking in a Church it could be considered a religious union. I don't know, just some thoughts I had.

  • It is refreshing to see a young person expressing themselves in such an articulate way.You obviously have strong opinions on this matter whether you are straight or gay it matters not really. People have the right to choose.

  • Well, Gay/Lesbian marriage should be allowed. Its not different. Its a self choice, of happiness. If you choose to live in africa, cause it makes you happy. go for it, if you wanna be gay, because it makes you happy, GO FOR IT!!

  • Listen to the boy he speaks the truth

  • Amen to that!

This is why we love Nick so much. He's never afraid to speak out.

  • You're kidding right? Or are you just.. stupid?

  • yeah but your also uneducated and an idiot, thats probably why no one take you seriously. Whats the big deal is two people of the same sex want to get married, everyone who is against it, in my opinion is just being narrow-minded.

  • In my opinion Religion has held us back from many many things that could benefit and change our world for the better. I am not talking about belief in god, I am talking about letting a book that was written by a group of men thousands of years ago dictate how we live today.

So the bible says it may be wrong, big deal has anyone heard god declare it to be wrong.....no. The bible also says a father can sell his daughter into slavery if she doesn't find a suitable husband. Things have to change.

  • u really don understand the bible seriously what u just said was retarded

  • I understand the bible is a book, yet people live the lives by it and fight wars in the name of it. If someone wrote a book today and claimed it was the word of god people would think they were mad.

Faith is a good thing, but in my opinion the bible needs to be updated, would you still use a text book written a few thousand years ago.....things change and religion needs to change along with it, I don't see why it cant.

  • "Religion has held us back"

You are not attacking religion here. Just Christianity. It isn't just Christianity that says homosexuality is wrong, it is all the ancient religions.

And please tell me where is says a father can sell his daughter into slavery if she doesn't find a suitable husband. They could sell them to be wives, and there were certain laws that mandated their release on certain conditions (Exodus 21:5-6, Deuteronomy 15:16-18).

  • Ok first of all you are telling me you have a knowledge and understanding of all ancient religions, dont think so. And I would define being forced to marry a man, someone you would have to care for cook clean and have sex with as slavery, if you dont then I think religion is the least of your worries mate.

  • different times, different laws, different opinions, different morals, almost nothing will ever stay the same civilizations change their ideas and thoughts with time

  • I just hope we are moving forward and not back.

  • I think you'll find both of those books in the Old Testament, and more importantly, the Torah - the entirety of the founding Judaic laws.

Jesus Christ said "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second this: Love your neighbour as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40).

For this reason alone, I do not judge others for their beliefs.

  • im english but i totally agree whats the point of descriminising gays or lesbians jus coz there not the same as u !!

  • Wow, how could California do that? I mean what could people have against gay and lesbian people?? I think it's disgusting how people can discriminate others just because of silly little predjudices.. If they have problems, they should keep them to themselves.

  • Could say the exact same about the religious, burn them all......Preach, preach, preach, preach, preach, about what? "God" lol please.

In my eyes everyone has a right to live how ever they want, I respect peoples religion as long as I get the respect back. I don't agree with their morals, but so long as they don't preach crap all over me I'm fine with it.

To put it quite blandly the religious are narrow minded.

  • Always with the Issues. There always has to be an issue with the gays."mommy says this....mommy says that...." Hypersensitive to any criticism. What does that indicate?

  • Very eloquent.

  • Your right, people should be able to marry who they want. Bisexuals and Homosexuals should have as much right to marry each other as Heterosexuals.

  • ok, if you are going to try and post a comment about how you're against gay marriage, don't start out saying 'look sweetie.' we are not five years old. however, 'recruiting straight people to be queers' is exactly the wrong thing to say. if you want to be taken seriously, try to be a little more adult about this. it doesn't happen like that. you don't just wake up one day thinking 'hmm, i want to be gay.' and you know what, you need to grow up. don't wish aids on people. that sucks.

  • I'am fascinated like a mouse by a Snake

  • intelligent & sexy!?

    amazing haha :)

  • You speak with passion and conviction

  • it was all a complete fuckover to begin with anyway.

They knew it would pass from the moment it was devised in their warped little minds.

Whats next? only white people can marry?

its a road littered with forks and bends but it all ends up the same way - the first step towards a new Aryan Race.

    well said my friend.

    well FUCKING said.

  • I live in america. I was so mad it passed. It is ridiculous. I hate america cant wait to move to the UK

  • I don't understand posts in other blogs that say that gay marriage will destroy civilization. Huh? No minority, especially one that is under 10% can destroy the society of a majority without nuclear weapons. Common people. If gays have full rights, they will fade into the facade that is America as equals...and the newest generation will see it the same way we all see the rights of women to vote. At one time, you could lose your life over arguments about suffrage.

  • here here!

    I couldn't agree more!

  • oh yea "and the mormon church" yea just the mormons no one else. open your eyes please

  • i don't live in america,

but i heard about this is, it's not cool.

    your really really hot. :)

  • babe, its not letting me watch this video :(

noooo.. i need another dose of Nick soon!

hope you have fun in amsterdam (whenever you go).

love you, you big ball of gay :) xxxx

  • :P <3

  • First of all, there is no FEDERAL law. And Obama will see to it that there isn't one. Secondly, these STATE amendments will be overturned by the courts. No majority has the right to deny equality to a minority in America. Discrimination is wrong. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

Excellent video, mongoos150. Keep them coming.

  • Thanks for the great discussion. Too bad more folks didn't watch before Prop 8 passed. But, I doubt many who voted for it use mediums like YouTube anyway. I'll bet most of the Pro 8 voters are computer illiterate. They certain belong with a group that don't drink coffee. Why a certain faction believes it's OK to marry more than once, but doesn't believe in tolerance of other civil groups is hard to comprehend. I'd call it hypocritical.

  • Don't drink coffee?

  • Two percent? And where did those statistics come from, the same people that actually believe homosexuals will drink their blood and other ridiculous claims? (Yes that is an exaggeration but it's not far off the mark). People against Prop 8 aren't the ones going from "facts" that other homophobes have spread in one of the most shoddily organised campaigns in history. So, skulls full of mush? That mush is called BRAINS. Use your own for once.

  • FINALLY!! Someone with an audience saying something that matters. Thanks man!

  • It took blacks four centuries to go from slaves to one of them being our president. Our battle for equality did not start untill the mid 1960. Hopefully it wont take us that long. Keep the faith.

  • In my opinion, when you say two men or two women cant get married its like saying a black person and a white person cant get married.its also just like abortions,i'm against them but keep them legal for people who believe they should be.And i know even IF i was religious at all i would still think the same way BECAUSE i am open minded, people who are voting yes on prob 8 are on a one track mind,"oh the bible says this the bible says that"well guess what, half of us DONT CARE what the bible says.

  • Whatever. You know what, go get married and then have an anullment be forced upon you. you wouldnt be thinking the same damn thing, get your head out of your ass and open your mind. And We DIDNT take the high road, the goverment is low, Almost as low as it can get. as for any homosexual agenda, none is being forced upon anyone, the only thing taught to school children is to respect others and their lifestyle decisions. This is just plain good manners regardless if the person is gay or straight.

  • Same sex marriage does not infringe on others rights. it takes away none of your rights, nor does it lessen them. is a kid seeing two people of the same sex kissing in public really better than telling them about it in a controlled classroom environment?as for religious organizations, the would not have been forced to preform gay marriage. the bill said that same sex couples could get married by going to a COURT HOUSE. not a church.

your argument has no merit. Fail.

  • Thank YOU!!

Drive Away The Hate-- Vote NO on Prop 8!

  • Great!

  • NO ON PROP 8!!! NO!!!

  • So my honest first reaction to this video was to say "Will you marry me?" but somehow that won't suffice in this case. haha!

So umm... I like the fact that you use iMovie. I used iMovie on my NO ON H8 video as well... And uh... [5/5] :D

  • Excellent video. Continuing to allow same-sex couples to marry does not force any person or church to endorse them. They have the right to continue to describe marriage as they traditionally do. Marriage in the U.S. is a legal contract and nothing more. How religions interpret it should not influence a law.

  • killallf, you should be the posterchild for why abortion should remain legal!

  • if prop 8 fails, churches will still be free to say all kinds of hateful, discriminatory things about gay people. and the state can't do much about it.

  • Where will it end? Why is it immoral and illegal to marry your mother, brother, sister, or father, if there are two consenting adults? It it's behind closed doors, and no-one gets hurt, why is child pornography still illegal? Why can't you marry your goat, if you want? Why do people not realize that under the current California law, gay and lesbian couples have equal rights (civil unions allowed). Marriage is not a right in California, or in our US consitution.

  • child pornography is illegal because it mostly involves kidnapping of children. sexuality by force.and a child who is too emotionally and sexually young to willingly give in to sexual urges.the other things you wrote were red herrings. they haven't happened.and won't. why can't you say the real reason you're opposed to gay marriages is because your religious beliefs are anti-gay!

  • A majority belief doesn't constitute a law because personal beliefs and civil matters are not the same in the United States. Marriage is a legal contract in the US and nothing more. Also, comparing same-sex marriages to having multiple spouses is idiotic. Once again, in the US marriage is a legal contract between two people. Same sex couples meet that requirement.

  • i couldnt agree more like rele love is love if you have a problem seeeing me men toghter and women toghter the look away dont stop them for what they feel.

  • I appreciate your eloquence. Well spoken.

  • well done.

    no on prop 8.

  • Nicely done! Not that it will convince the religious conservatives who think it would be nice to turn back the clock a few hundred years, but it's always refreshing to hear someone young and articulate take a principled stand. Keep up the good work!

  • Are you going to disown them because your moral beliefs are different and no one can differ from you. I know a gay male couple. They have been together and have 2 kids. They are grown and both are straight males. Now their parents lives didn't "turn them gay!" How is two people getting married really going to effect your life. People have done it for years without the full support and rights...are you going to blame the fall of the economy on these people being together.

    VOTE NO ON 8!

  • This is false, and studies have shown homosexual couples actually can make better parents than heterosexual couples due to the drastically lower rate of divorce (yes, proportionally).

  • To mongoos150: Please cite sources.

  • If you'd like sources, do your own research. It's readily available, it's common knowledge.

  • mongoos150: Your saying that doesn't prove it.

  • you first
