I don't agree with all you say, but I respect your right to your opinion. Although I don't agree with gay marriage, I would support civil unions. A civil union would give same-sex couples the rights of a marriage, without the church aspect of it. The church aspect is where most of the opposition comes from. I believe that a lot of people opposed to gay marriage would compromise with allowing civil unions. Nobody would get everything they want, but both sides could meet in the middle.

Why do people want to marry anyway? It's something I simply cannot understand the necessity for. I believe love should be a strong enough bond between two human beings, especially if that bond includes children. Knowing the foundation upon which religion is built I find it even more difficult to understand as to why anyone might follow a christian god or any specific god for that matter.
However, my beliefs aside I will do all I can to encourage equality within society.

No, there is a scientific study published recently about male homosexuality. The level of testosterone was decreased in newborn mice, at some certain time/stage after birth, and they ended up gay. It is hypothesized that a combination of antibodies from a mother who carries her male child attacks the hormones thereby reducing its levels and turning the child gay while it is still developing in the womb.
Reduced testosterone levels is a very likely to result in homosexuality. But not all homosexuals fit this case. So it's not correct to say people are born homosexuals. Yes some arguably are, but not all. I also did mention an inbalance in hormones. Someone with inbalanced hormones may not have had this imbalance for all their lives.

Ok, oabamwill[FAIL]2008, you're right, about one thing. As a case in point, I should clarify - Why is it specifically illegal to view (not make) child pornography? All my other points remain unanswered. Where does it end? Why can't one have multiple spouses if all are in agreement? These are moral issues, and yes our law does dictate morals. All of these issues are MORAL issues, put in place by the majority belief of the voters.
A majority belief doesn't constitute a law because personal beliefs and civil matters are not the same in the United States. Marriage is a legal contract in the US and nothing more. Also, comparing same-sex marriages to having multiple spouses is idiotic. Once again, in the US marriage is a legal contract between two people. Same sex couples meet that requirement.

Are you going to disown them because your moral beliefs are different and no one can differ from you. I know a gay male couple. They have been together and have 2 kids. They are grown and both are straight males. Now their parents lives didn't "turn them gay!" How is two people getting married really going to effect your life. I personally doubt that being raised by homosexual parents will certainly cause that a child becomes homosexual, in turn. That doesn't affect other things caused by homosexual-couple parenting, though. Children have higher chances of succeeding in school, attending college, having high self-esteem and avoiding all manner of dependency when raised by a man and a woman, together, in matrimony.
This is false, and studies have shown homosexual couples actually can make better parents than heterosexual couples due to the drastically lower rate of divorce (yes, proportionally).

No, there is a scientific study published recently about male homosexuality. The level of testosterone was decreased in newborn mice, at some certain time/stage after birth, and they ended up gay. It is hypothesized that a combination of antibodies from a mother who carries her male child attacks the hormones thereby reducing its levels and turning the child gay while it is still developing in the womb.

Reduced testosterone levels is a very likely to result in homosexuality. But not all homosexuals fit this case. So it's not correct to say people are born homosexuals. Yes some arguably are, but not all. I also did mention an inbalance in hormones. Someone with inbalanced hormones may not have had this imbalance for all their lives.

in Canada here, and it was determined unconstitutional to deny same-sex marriage here.Remember the adage:'separate church from state'? I don't care if someone decides they want a ceremony and a piece of paper saying they're spouses. If a same sex couple can make their marriage last, more power to them, because there's a huge number of heterosexual couples that can't make it work.
It's up to the churches if they decide to marry a gay couple or not.

actually, Clestafarian, marriage existed before the christian religion and doesn't necessarily have a religious basis, depending on what country you are looking at.
if two homosexual people wish to be married, it doesn't threaten you or your values in any way... it's just two people wishing to express a loving bond between them in a tangible (and legal) fashion.
by preventing people from doing this, you would be forcing your views upon them. by allowing them to marry, there is no conflict.

Marriage by the state is defined as a union of two, not any part in any religion. Marriage that is acknowledged by the state is purely non-religious, non-spiritual, tax-union. Making religion a factor in a federal issue is a direct violation of separation of church and state, Marriage is not a religious union, nor will it ever be, if it was, you wouldn't involve your government.

Faith is a good thing, but in my opinion the bible needs to be updated, would you still use a text book written a few thousand years ago.....things change and religion needs to change along with it, I don't see why it cant.

First of all, there is no FEDERAL law. And Obama will see to it that there isn't one. Secondly, these STATE amendments will be overturned by the courts. No majority has the right to deny equality to a minority in America. Discrimination is wrong. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

Same sex marriage does not infringe on others rights. it takes away none of your rights, nor does it lessen them. is a kid seeing two people of the same sex kissing in public really better than telling them about it in a controlled classroom environment?as for religious organizations, the would not have been forced to preform gay marriage. the bill said that same sex couples could get married by going to a COURT HOUSE. not a church.

Excellent video. Continuing to allow same-sex couples to marry does not force any person or church to endorse them. They have the right to continue to describe marriage as they traditionally do. Marriage in the U.S. is a legal contract and nothing more. How religions interpret it should not influence a law.

Where will it end? Why is it immoral and illegal to marry your mother, brother, sister, or father, if there are two consenting adults? It it's behind closed doors, and no-one gets hurt, why is child pornography still illegal? Why can't you marry your goat, if you want? Why do people not realize that under the current California law, gay and lesbian couples have equal rights (civil unions allowed). Marriage is not a right in California, or in our US consitution.

child pornography is illegal because it mostly involves kidnapping of children. sexuality by force.and a child who is too emotionally and sexually young to willingly give in to sexual urges.the other things you wrote were red herrings. they haven't happened.and won't. why can't you say the real reason you're opposed to gay marriages is because your religious beliefs are anti-gay!

Ok, oabamwill[FAIL]2008, you're right, about one thing. As a case in point, I should clarify - Why is it specifically illegal to view (not make) child pornography? All my other points remain unanswered. Where does it end? Why can't one have multiple spouses if all are in agreement? These are moral issues, and yes our law does dictate morals. All of these issues are MORAL issues, put in place by the majority belief of the voters.

A majority belief doesn't constitute a law because personal beliefs and civil matters are not the same in the United States. Marriage is a legal contract in the US and nothing more. Also, comparing same-sex marriages to having multiple spouses is idiotic. Once again, in the US marriage is a legal contract between two people. Same sex couples meet that requirement.

Are you going to disown them because your moral beliefs are different and no one can differ from you. I know a gay male couple. They have been together and have 2 kids. They are grown and both are straight males. Now their parents lives didn't "turn them gay!" How is two people getting married really going to effect your life. People have done it for years without the full support and rights...are you going to blame the fall of the economy on these people being together.

I personally doubt that being raised by homosexual parents will certainly cause that a child becomes homosexual, in turn. That doesn't affect other things caused by homosexual-couple parenting, though. Children have higher chances of succeeding in school, attending college, having high self-esteem and avoiding all manner of dependency when raised by a man and a woman, together, in matrimony.

This is false, and studies have shown homosexual couples actually can make better parents than heterosexual couples due to the drastically lower rate of divorce (yes, proportionally).
