  • Hey, could you make a video of your Acela Express , with all 6 cars, doing the full speed of 150 (scale) mph? I'd Love to see that!! :D -Mike

  • Is this unit DCC? If it is DCC did you install 2 decoders into the units or just one?

  • @Tuxedo748

Hi! At the time of this video, the Acela Express train sets were still DC control. They have since been upgraded to DCC and I installed a decoder in both ends. Both motors are powered. If you do not wish to power one of the locomotives, you don't need to install a decoder in that one but all the lights will be on at the same time. Installing a decoder in the dummy will give a more realistic look with the markers on in revers, and headlights on in forward. Hope this helps!

  • awsome acela! where can I get that?

  • @mcrrocks80

Bachmann manufacturers these regularly as a part of their product line. Search for it on modeltrainstuff a.k.a MB Klein. They usually sell it at a pretty good price.

  • could i get when u don't need it any more

  • where can i buy those other amtrak sets that u have

  • Nice model. what scale?

  • Thanks. This is HO Scale

  • @marylindsayrr im not making fun of you but is the platform duck tape yellow electrical tape over a block of foam

  • @gtasandman That is correct. It was an economical option at the time and fairly quick what to get platforms. I don't build my platforms with those materials anymore. I use a sheet of styrene, cork roadbed and 1/4 Styrofoam now.

  • @marylindsayrr but it is a good ideal but if you take your time it will look more crisp and clean

  • @gtasandman time's a rare commodity these days...

  • Wow. Nice Model.

  • if only it was a real one :(

  • Where did u get the platform?

  • The Platforms were scratch built from woodland scenics 1/2 inch foam sheet and Elmers foam board (1/8" thick).

  • nice acela dude i haent been on one tho

  • olha a grasa caindo do predio

  • what decoder is in the acela? i am looking to buy a decoder for my acela set.

  • I don't use decoders for my Acela but a TCS TH150DP drops right in. You just have to remove the shell.

  • in the left lower corner where did u get amtrak?

  • where do u buy the sand?

  • The sand is actually called ballast. This particular ballast was manufactured by "Woodland Scenics". Most hobby shops carry this as well as online dealers.

  • COOL!

  • LOL! I never did tell you about that did I? Yeah, I've painted those myself. Bachmann has those phases out now, but the hue is off in terms of the blue and turquois colors.

  • trains? do you have any stencils for sale? LOL Dude, how the heck did you paint that phase V scheme? They don't sell those in O scale. In fact I'm not sure if there are phase IVb trains available for O either.

  • do you have any trains for sale??

  • I'm sorry. At the moment I do not have any of these trains for sale. If anything changes, I will let you know.

  • I like to be as prototypical as possible. Although I can't incorporate catenary on this layout, it's better to still run with pans up. It's kind of like a "It's better to have something than nothing" kind of thing.

  • Isn't it true that both locos are dummies and the Cafe car is the power supply?

  • Both the sets I have, have two power cars. The stock set comes with one powered locomotive and one dummy.

  • cool, but why are the pantographs up but there aren't any wires?
