  • God forbid, when you got shit to do and you stop by someone you know, they want to talk, and if you say you gotta go, they tell you not to be anti-social and shit, BUT YOU GOT SHIT TO DO!! God dammit people leave me a lone. So these days I stop and chat so I can keep up appearances.

  • Would you stop and chat with James Doakes?

  • the worst people to stop and chat with are the ones that dont understand that the pause.................... 'Anyway' actually means ok ive had enough of this stop and chat now but then they continue babbling on and you feel trapped and try use the '...............anyway again

  • I'm usually with Larry in these situations.

  • I STEAL FORKS FROM RESTAURANTS

  • What I love about this show is that it gets us to questions everyday society lol. This should become the curriculum of a sociology course lol

  • I don't like to stop and chat but I do it anyway for obvious reasons lol

  • I think you should never be obligated to do a stop and chat if you don't want to. If you're not in the mood, why feel forced to do something you're not in the mood for? I've been looking for this scene forever, btw. Thanks for posting

  • All you have to do is say "Hi, how are you?" No need to stop. Larry is right. There are many people I see and I keep walking as I say "Hi, how are you?" Because they are either people I don't know well, or I just don't want to talk to them lol

  • Anyone else came looking for this clip after "chat and cut"?

  • Thank you SWYPE! Content was supposed to be ACKWARD... I just pulled a "Larry". Lol

  • Love this show and the idea of "stop and chat". I totally relate, not a big fan of "stopping and chatting" makes for an always content of "what else am I supposed to?" Call me a hermit, Lol.

  • This show is so good...best part is it can teach you a lot of things about real life. Ok, I'm making that up, it's just this segment that makes the most realistic sense because it's so true.

  • Every episode of curb are awesome but there are some that really stick out. This is definately one of them

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm justifies all my behavior my girlfriends all complained about.

  • Sometimes I don't mind S/C but honestly they are rather annoying. I mean dammit come on, I have to go somewhere and you want to talk to me; someone you havent seen in 6 months + about your daughter in law and the new baby. No!

  • You know those stop and chat's where both do the stop to chat, because both feel like the other one wants to stop and chat, and nobody wants to be rude, but then it turns out that neither of you really wanted to stop and chat and now there's two idiots who have nothing to say after the first "Ah, hi." looking at each other. ...I hate those.

  • hahaha love this

  • I love how he just walks past and the guys just standing there :D:D:D:D

  • I hate stop and chat..

  • rofl its true the person who wanted the stop and chat just have to say hello, you have to respond with a more thoughtful question.

    LOL

  • what's absolutely worse than the stop and chat? when you say hello and get snubbed!

  • i have nightmares of stop and chats

  • I totally understand Larry... it really blows when you're in a rush at the super market or somewhere else in public and someone you know wants to talk for half an hour... man, if only I had the balls to snub someone like Larry. lol

  • Stop and chat is as terrible as when you get the hug when you went for the handshake.

  • Was that Jerry Seinfeld??

  • @hm9831 no.

  • you what always prevents the stop and chat? EARBUDS. never fails.

  • I dread the stop and chat also. There's this guy I barely know at work and I always happen to run into him at the worst times. Talk about an awkward situation.

  • I agree with Larry on this one.

I don't like stop and chats cause it's a waste of time to me.

If it was a fine and fit female that wanted to with me on stop and chat, i would only for her digits.

  • I avoid stop and chats by moving very quickly in public always. In and out lol

  • Happened to me yesterday. So annoying. And then I saw him again 5 minutes later.

  • This always happens to me at the gym. I can't workout and stop and chat at the same time! This trainer thinks I hate him because I don't stop to have a 10 minute conversation every time I see him! People are so freaking sensitive its ridiculous!

  • no-one understands larry but you can sort of see where he is coming from

  • God i do this all the time someone says hey how are you?! and I say hey im good! then i look down and keep walking is this mean?

  • ive seen the perfect way to deal withf the stop and chat on a film called human traffic - search 'Human Traffic Part 4 ' and watch from 7: 26 onwards : )

  • @iReturnVide0tapes

Its called socializing you prick. get out of the basement

  • Classic.. Stop and chat

  • You can tell this is an OLD episode cause the west side pavilion mall behind them had Nordstrom

  • haha kinda like "the kiss hello" in seinfeld...you can see the genius mind of larry david at work

  • definitely agree with LD. there's degrees of relationships that are evident in how far out of our way we go to interact. the mall for example, see people i know all the time there. some of them i stop, catch up, and maybe use that time to book some other event with the person. others i politely acknowledge and move on. it has always been reflective of the type of relationship i had with that given person.

  • Classic Seinfeld humor.

  • Stop and chats are usually okay at first, but then they become excruciatingly awkward, so my normal procedure is to avoid them at all costs.

  • You know scenes like this will always come back and haunt Larry later on in the episode.

  • Honestly, I think this is WAY better than seinfeld.

  • I hate stop & chats! Even if it's a cute girl, I still can't stand it either way...

  • I have someplace to go, I'm not going to talk to every person I know. If they don't understand, they're obviously not my friends, more of a reason I don't feel like talking to them

  • I avoid stop-and-chats like the plague.

  • @skateposeur12 that's because you're more sane than usual.

  • the description says it best

  • Not everyone gets a stop and chat....thats just how it works.

  • okay i normally just think i am going crazy but i see by all of ur comments that im not thee only one who dreads stop and chats. i been working at this resturant for over 5 years and Strangers seem to see me out side of work and they want to stop and chat . i feel so out of place ! lol it has been theroputic for me to see this and be able to laugh my booty off!!!! thanks love Larry D. you feel like 2 people , one at work and one off work. Bipolar?

  • I have hid behind trees and crouched underneath benches to avoid the stop and chat. It sucks when you get caught lol.

  • Sometimes I wish I had the nerve to disregard social norms like that.

Larry David is an inspiration to us all.

  • Larry steals forks! Larry steals forks! He should have stopped and chatted.

  • i hate it when you see someone you know quite well, and you don't know if a stop and chat is appropriate or if it will be awkward ahhh!

  • I dread stop and chats. Especially when their people you barely know, and they start talking about people you don't know about and situations you don't care about.

  • I'm So With Larry On ''The Stop And Chat'' Rubbish. I Absolutely Love CYE Largely Because I Think So Much Alike With Larry. Me And Him Would Have A Brilliant Chat If I Ever Met Him.

  • nice job getting out of the dreaded stop and chat

  • lmao, I can totally relate to this. If I see someone I hardly know in the street I just try and avoid all eye contact.

  • Stop and chat = Run.

  • I hate to stop & chat, even with people I actually like.

  • It's like Seinfeld's "Kiss Hello". When I first saw this bit I was completely reminded as that

  • i did this at the mall friday... i had no qualms... my friend played the jeff greene part in the convo after i walked off from the s&c

  • Yes, but isn't it better and more polite to be friendly? Only kidding. Unless you're insensitive, then the whole "stop and chat" thing can be difficult to avoid, without causing offence. But as Larry David once said: "I don't mind talking to strangers, it's people I know that I don't want to talk to."

  • just keep your headphones in and keep walking straight ahead - it works

  • Stop and chats are so awkward because it usually happens with someone you either barely know or haven't seen in a long time...

  • I couldn't agree more, dirtymac. Most of the time I carry a newspaper with me, so when I run into someone at the train and they sit down next to me, I can do a one-to-two minute stop and chat, then offer them the paper. If they refuse, I can just say "sorry, I have work to do, let me know if you change your mind about that paper" or something to that effect..

  • Stop and chat is horrible when you really don't want to. But at least you can just say you are busy and go away. Meeting people you know on the train or plane is much worse. You might have to sit next to someone you barely know and don't like and you gotta keep talking for hours. That is awkward, especially when you have run out of things to talk about after two minutes.

  • The stop and chat is fine provided it's someone you want to stop and chat with otherwise it's torture.

  • hilarious...

  • i feel like larry every day

  • This is gold lol, larry is so realistic, this also reminds me of seinfeld

  • maybe it's because he produced it?

  • I know lol, I was just saying, thats all. Both shows are great anyways

  • @Ploatic

well you know Larry David Wrote All of Seinfeld , he actually put in things that happened in his real life with a twist in almost every episode. Larry PWNS!!

  • I hate bumping into people I went to school with, it's truly horrible.

  • I hate stop and chats. Had three the last few days. They totally suck!! Nothing worse then having that dumb don't know what to say look on your face!

  • I can relate to that.

  • I recently had 2 extremely awkward stop and chat's at the grocery store. I fucking hate them! They're always so awkward and boring. And you can't avoid the person (like Larry David did) or you'll seem like a complete dick.

  • just walk the opposite way or hide

  • I think the unknown comic was Larry's hero.

  • i say thatv all the time i dont wanna do a stop and chat

  • The worst stop and chats are in the supermarket...you meet them all over again in the next aisle then over and over again....woe is me i'm off there now!!

  • Ohh dammit ya. These kinds of situations require serious vigilance to avoid bumping into them again. I'm forced to walk by the aisle first to check if they're there before I can go down it. Or pretend I don't see them and angle myself so that it looks like I never would have saw them.. has to be done tactfully though..

  • @denpunk666mitsos I worked in a supermarket for a along time. I bet I talked about the weather more then you.

  • @denpunk666mitsos those are the worst because you end up doing the double goodbye as well!

  • @denpunk666mitsos no actually the very worst stop and chats are on the bus when you get on and your moving towards the back and you see someone you know. and they want to stop and chat with you still you get off.

  • @denpunk666mitsos LMAO!! You are so right!! I always end up just looking in the isle and when I see the person, I leave the isle even if I really need something from it!!

  • stop and chat sucks. end of

  • I had the most awkward stop and chat recently. My former college roommate (who I hated) was standing outside a classroom where everyone was waiting for to clear out on the first day back to school. The whole time he was trying to talk to me and I was completely blowing him off. I was just thinking "fuck off"

  • cool story bro

  • i hate stop and chats

how ya doing? how have you been? what have you been up to? same old same old

  • I hate knowing people,........it's so much work, and I don't want to be talk to people, I'm trying to unknow the people I know allready, stop and chat. LOL

  • Especially being a college student is rough. Some classmate wants to talk to you that you don't even like or find interesting, and it happens constantly. Ugh!

  • That was not rude at all. I do it all the time. Why do people feel entitled to take your time away over a silly convo?

  • hes so right on this one. Im sick of having to talk to someone i have only seen idk once or twice in my life and saying wat??? " Oh nice weather we r having huh?" I dont like the stop and chat either

  • But you insist on talking to strangers on youtube?

  • haha thats a good one, i admit

  • Larry David is a god.

  • The morning after I watched this I was walking to class with a friend and someone try to initiate a stop and chat. I definitely gave them the old Larry David walkaround. My friend needs to watch this video to understand.

  • yea especially when you dont know anyone in there, and you have all these little conversations with all these weird people lol

  • on campus is definitely the worst place. It's like walking through a mine field every day on my way to class. guarenteed this happens to me at least twice a day.

  • I can relate to that. And it can be really awkward since I'm horrible at remembering people's names.

  • totally agree with him there, i almost have a phobia for awkward conversations and the silence which follows! u don't have anythin to say to somebody

  • you and me both brother ^^

  • that was not rude larry. i agree with u

    :)

  • few times ive done this and sometimes worry for looking rude to them, but after watching this im thinking well theres other people id rather spend more time with so im cool with it now, this show rocks, gna buy the episodes for sure!

  • they always happen at the worst possible times too, i just wanted to get a birthday card at the dollar store. thats what i get for thinking i could make a quick 5 minute trip without showering, wearing socks or putting on deodorant....

  • stop & chats are awful on campus. there's so many people you barely know from classes.

  • that's so true, hahahahahahahahaha!

  • I have stop and chat's in the gym. Nobody gives a shit. The worst is when they start telling me about their kids. I wish I had the rudeness of LD.

  • I love Larry's "rules". Some would say his style of handling everyday society is rude. But it's actually just common sense. Which most people lack.

  • I know, he does what we all think. I actually agree with him on alot of things, which makes me question my own social skills haha

  • Haha, you and I'd probably be great friends.

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TALK TO ME

i cant watch this video cu

  • o hai

  • s & c's occur alot w/ ppl u dont really know...those moments r awkward...tryin to talk but u dont really want to...by the way Larry is da funniest jew of all time

  • i hate stop n' chats.. I avoid them on campus all the time. people from class.. highschool.. random parties.. gross.

  • larry david is a comic genius

  • Man, so funny.

  • reminds me of seinfeld

  • there is a reason for that

  • ahahaha

  • i always thought seinfeld was alright, but curb is amazing.

  • CHOOSE YOUR STOP AND CHATS!!!

    Otherwise it gets all awkward.

    (just came from one) ug..

  • I HATE the "Stop & Chat". Rock on, Larry! :-D

  • Larry= The Truth. Just so real.

  • Ah someone I can relate to, lol.

  • I'm with Larry on this one. A stop and chat can be a big mistake!

  • I used to be really busy with school and left many stop and chats. after a few of them with the same people you're wasting your day talking about complete bullshit.

  • yes, i agree 100%, larry is the man. why should one have a stop and chat if one does no feel like it

  • This must be like the most realistic shit i've ever seen on TV. Kudos to Larry!

  • I always feel bad with certain people so I will do a SAC.

However, with other people I dont care. But with really nice or kinda awkward people I feel like it could make their day, so I try to be nice. :)

  • Good on you dude.

  • haha...this is why I love the show. It hits home with me on soo many levels. I HATE the stop and chat(unless it happens to be a hot chick)because it forces u to have to entertain this person for a duration of time...I'm sorry I don't need that kinda pressure...I'm with you Larry!

  • I had a friend in college who knew everyone on campus. 26,000 people on campus and everyone we passed he had to "stop and chat" with them. It was so irritating. We'd be on our way to class and all the sudden, "Hey Suzy!" "Hey!" "How's it going?" And I'm standing there not knowing who this person is at all...The worst time for a stop and chat is when you're in a hurry and the person won't shut up. LOL. I should always do what Larry just did.

  • Seriously! I have a friend just like that. It's so awkward because they NEVER introduce you...so you just stand there like an idiot, you end up looking like some odd sidekick to the person haha

  • I got a buddy just like that lol. I just want to say to him "Don't talk lets go" but I'm sure it wouldn't get through his skull if I did

  • The worst is when you have your iPod on walking and someone you know is coming...then they lock eyes and start to move towards you and you go 'Oh crap...they want to stop and chat.' So annoying! Haha

  • yessssss thats the best

  • haha oh man, stop and chats are the pinnacle of awkwardness!

  • haha. so true

  • I hate stop and chats too.

  • wtf !

  • Its quite un-nerving if you dont remember the 'stop & chat ' -ers name.

You are obligated to instantly recall a brief ecounters' name out of the blue.

Just say 'HI' & move on, sheesh.

    I love this show!

  • Lol stop and chat is a pain

  • Actually, avoiding the stop and chat is quite liberating. Might as well be more comfortable being myself. I did this to someone the other day and she still says hi to me. Didn't even know the girl, just worked with her from time to time so, what the fuck? Doesn't lay the grounds for a stop and chat. Uh uh... no way...

  • Yes I am in total agreement with this scenario too. I hate running into people I know and then it seems that I have to talk to them. Well sorry I don't adhear to the rules of etiquette when it comes to that stuff.

  • I completely and totally agree with Larry on this one. Drives me crazy when people stop me and talk to me for 5 minutes when all I wanna do is say hello and be done with it:) This clip plays in my mind quite often, and better yet, I find myself referring to classic LD moments nearly every day! I love Curb, keep it coming!!!!

  • Good to hear more people feel the same way :)

  • typical LD moment
