@CanFly2798 That's not what I meant, you see the chromium in stainless steel is what makes it stainless but it also leads to higher brittleness, in pocket knives this isnt a problem obviously but swords have higher shock tolerance requirements than knives so a stainless sword will most likely shatter if you try to use it. There are lost of websites that have pages of this in full detail if you wish to look that up.

That seems like a LOT of weight to be carrying. Honestly, out of all of that, you might need a shovel, MAYBE the machette, a hammer, and DEFINITELY the .22

Basic necessities so you break into places when you need to, dig trenches to keep the horde between you and a secure position, and above all else, KEEP MOVING. No place is safe forever, you've gotta keep on your feet to find food, ammo, and hopefully a survivalist camp. More weight=more pain, think light and fast my friend.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I would recommend getting a more powerful gun or two, at least. Sure, a .22 LR may take out a zombie with one head shot, but head shots are not easy to make on a moving target, so more stopping power may help. Also, zombies aren't the only thing to worry about. Other people trying to survive (or who are just assholes) may try to kill you too, and if all you've got is a .22, you probably won't fare very well. I recommend a Mosin-Nagant, at the very least.

That sword you have is better than most, yes, but I wouldn't recommend it for a zombie apocalypse/SHTF scenario. It's not really an optimal cutting weapon, and if I had to guess from looking at it, I'd say it's probably a Windlass sword. Even in terms of "battle ready" swords, Windlass swords are still pretty cheap. But hey, at least it's not a stainless steel wallhanger that some people (who seem to know nothing about swords) have.

For those of us that insist on having a sword during the zombie apocalypse, might I suggest the falchion. It has the reach of a Katana,and blade length but has more weight at the end. Falchons were invented during the middle ages for penetrating chainmail, so it should do the trick on a zombie skull.

Many falchions I've seen are about the size of a cutlass (22-25" long blade), and I've only seen a couple that are about as long as a katana (27-28" long blade). Not to say that falchions aren't good blades, because they are. I'm just more of a saber fan, myself, and katanas are quite good for their intended use, if you get a well made one.

Because although they may have good rang, unless you have 5grand to spend you would only get a head or two cut off "if your lucky"before it is to dull to use, and it is too light weight to cut thru thick bone like an axe. @nazranaknapp Five grand? Wow, you really should take a look at some more recent katana offerings on the market. Hanwei and Cold Steel make some good katanas, and some of them are fairly cheap. In fact, one of Hanwei's newest ones, their "Tactical Katana", can be found for around $150 or less, and they're pretty good, basic, tough katanas. As for going dull, just cut the head off at the neck. That'll save a lot of edge wear. They're also much more powerful blades than you seem to think.

Classical Loadout would probably include a sledgehammer and another light weapon such as machete or hatchet at your side. Assault rifle such as an E24 or a G36. And keeping some spare ammo and complete stockpile of M.R.D and munitions would be nice. And a workshop and a team up to 3-5 people. And don't make it a dude ranch either. It would get REALLY akward. So Academy would be the best place.

@videomaking1 the rifle is a Marlin 995. There is not a lot of information out there about them but they do not make this particular model any more. Look up the Marlin 795 rifles. They are very similar to this one but have a few upgrades.

one thing missing pistol/revolver just for a ready firearm. what i mean is the rifle is great for when you can stop aim and fire a smaller firearm was built for quickdraws. and the best part is that you can carry the three major sizes .22 .45 and .357 without taking up to much room but the .22 long rifle is the perfect gun when you have time to aim; not when you have to move fast and shoot faster.
