I'm 49. My Dad was a master musician, of many instruments. He was either 8 or 12 when he started Classical guitar lessons. By his mid-20s, he was a coffee house hippie. He wrote a shit-ton of 'folksy' guitar music, wrote poetry... all that business.

Anyway, he gave me my first guitar for my 7th birthday. I wanted a BB gun. LoL.

My 24 yr old son plays very well.

And me, who's handled a guitar for over 40 years... still can't play shit.

@MrFaulconbridge haha, I was kidding :) This actually inspired me to write a song to submit for my high school music exam- It incorporates similar techniques, only nowhere near as polished as Andy's (obviously), playing guitar is my passion, and people like Andy are the ones who keep that passion alive :)

@mouldyteabag Well goodluck! What's interesting about Andy is that he is mainly selftaught. He played around 7 hours a day back in his teens playing along to some of his favorite guitarists. For songwriting he just puts his guitar in an alternate tuning he likes and just starts messing around finding cool ideas.

If you get into writing instrumental guitar, make sure you really put time into a composition and make it as interesting as possible. And remember, music comes from your heart. :)
