Sesame Street. Where's the modern parallel? There isn't one? Damn right. Jim Henson and those working with him had a vision that entertainment could and should be used to teach. Always positive, often hilarious and accessible to all ages. Sure there was crap children's tv back then too but not nearly ALL of it like the case is today.
