I'm sorry, but the violins are definitly way too much covered by the rest of the orchestra. Since the violins are giving the melody, the orchestra is supposed to be giving the background music,not be so present. I really like this tune, but the brass are taking all the credits off the melody.

@Eroldir It's not the violins giving the main melody, it's the brass and choir. The stringsection plays an appreggio over. The melody is a leitmotif of the main theme in the soundtrack, a very simple 4-chord progression. But very effective. Great soundtrack!

@mormalv I'm absolutely sorry, but, a main melody of only four notes sounds more like accompaniment to me. Really, the strings give something more to this tune and I do repeat, if they were more present, the effectiveness of this track would be better.

@Eroldir No need to be "absolutely sorry" :) But I don't think the violin appreggio should be stronger, it's pretty clear that the composer uses choral and brass for the "star" theme througout the score. Listen to the track "The star shines". Same theme, different statement, and also the track "the mouse". I think this is perfectly orchestrated, the balance is exactly right, especially if you take in account the scene wich it was written for.

@mormalv Yes, I have listened to "The Star shines" as well. Same comment for me about that one too. I'm more fan of strings than brass. As a matter of fact, when I first watched the film, I took more attention to the strings (not realising with the sound effects that it was not as present as I like strings to be). And, of course, I do appreciate melodies with ups and downs like the arpeggios here. This 4 notes melody sounds a bit poor to me. Beautiful, but more suited for accompaniment.
